After the conflicting news this morning it seems that Newcastle star striker, Andy Carroll, is indeed near full fitness and could play at Fulham in 9 days time.
Andy Carroll – could be ready for Fulham game
But another local lad, Steven Taylor, has already been ruled out of that game with his hamstring injury.
Alan Pardew seems confident about Andy, so much so that Andy is in the squad currently in Portugal getting some decent training on some good pitches.
Newcastle have not been able to rain at Benton because the pitches are just too frozen, but news today that owner Mike Ashley has said he;s going to fix that problem, which is good news.
When asked about Andy Carroll’s fitness, Pardew told the Evening Chronicle:
“Andy Carroll will be the closest.” “We’ll take him on the training camp to Portugal, and hopefully, he’ll be in with a chance for Fulham.”
There was news late last week that Steven could be out another five weeks with the injury, but it seems it’s not as bad as that, as Alan Pardew said today:
“No chance on Steven Taylor for Fulham, and Tiote’s still suspended.”
“Taylor may be ready for Arsenal, when I think Andy will play.” “It’s just a case of whether Andy makes Fulham.”
And of course the Fulham game will be the third and last game missed by Cheick Tiote, and he should be back to face Arsenal, at St. James’ Park a week on Saturday – 5th February – with a 3:00 pm kick off.
What a tremendous game that promises to be, and of course Arsenal are hardly strong in the air in central defense.
