Jonas Talks Glowingly About His Fab Friend Coloccini

Fabricio Coloccini and Jonas Gutierrez, Newcastle’s two Argentine Internationals, were the two best Newcastle players on Saturday, at least according to our Man of the Match poll – which is positioned down the right hand side of the home page.

Fabricio Coloccini – he’s scored again – it must be his birthday!

Fabricio put in another almost flawless performance against top side Spurs, and Jonas produced some great energy and runs down that left wing, and had a terrific struggle with Alan Hutton.

This is what the 20 times capped Argentine said about his close friend, Fabricio, today:

“I know Colo very well and he is having a really good season.” “The defense in the last few games has been really strong.”

“That is really good for the team, but for him he has certainly been one of the best players of the season – if not the best.”

“It is not a surprise to me just how well he’s doing.” “I know how he played when he was in Spain and he was one of the best defenders in La Liga.”

“People in Spain know how he can play. But for me, it is normal to see him play like this.” “He has played like this for most of his life.”

“He hardly missed a game for Deportivo la Coruna, he played the full season and in every minute.” “If you saw him play then you would see similarities.”

That’s one of the real positives of Fab,  in that he is very rarely injured, and can play game in game out – and that’s probably exactly what Alan Pardew will have him doing.

We suppose Steven Taylor and the ever improving Mike Williamson fighting it out to play alongside Coloccini.   and what a buy that Mike Williamson has been for just £1M, and we still think he continues  to improve – amazing.

It seems the Newcastle players may see some success ahead for the club,  and certainly the way the lads have performed this season, things are looking much better than we ever thought they would, at this stage of the season.

Think of the buzz on Tyneside  if the lads hadn’t conceded those two injury time equalizers over the last two games –  we’d have had 4 wins this year with 8 goals scored and zippo conceded.

Things are starting to look up at the club.

I agree with boater, Williamson and Collo for me to I know that Taylor has signed a new contract but make him wait and earn his place in the side.

For me Taylor next to Collo all day, although Willi and Collo have the edge (partnership wise) atm, once Taylor gets back to full fitness and gets a run in the side him and Collo will be a formidable duo 🙂

There are arguments for and against Willo and Saylor. The fact is they are different and changing them round depending on the opposition would be sound.

    Big slow forwards – Willo
    Nippy Forwards – Saylor

S Taylor at rightback? not a chance, he’s a centre back, and we need competition between those 3.
also, Danny Simpson is still young and if competing well in the Prem, keep him there, he can only improve and get better.

    Spot on nufcburty,

Tayls is not a fullback he is a center half, and simp is a good young fullback who is getting better everygame, he is linking up well going forward with barton and putting in good balls into the box, he made a mkistake against tottenham but he is till young and that is one of the few mistakes he has made all season, plus he made some great last ditch defending to save a few goals earlier in the game….tayls and willo will have to be swapped per tactics for the team we are playing….
