Well would you believe it’s been wet and windy in Portugal, since the lads have been out there for some conditioning work – and we cannot really call it a sunshine break now.
From what we can tell – the weather is not great in Portugal
The main reason the squad is out there is get some good practice in, morning and afternoon, with the training grounds at Benton being too hard and frozen to do much practice there.
And Alan is putting the squad through some hard conditioning work, in case fitness was the reason the lads conceded injury time goals in each of their last two league games, which cost Newcastle a valuable 4 points.
Its seems that Pardew has been pleased with what they have been able to achieve out there in the Iberian Peninsula:
“It’s going well – it’s wet and windy rather than sunshine, but we’ve got some good work done,”
“It was never a sunshine break. It was a conditioning week to make sure we are ready for the second half of the season.”
“And it was about regrouping too – looking at what we did well, what we can do better.”
It looks like it’s raining in Faro, Portugal today, where the lads are, and only in the high 50s Fahrenheit – not too warm at all.
Over here in Raleigh. NC it’s 8:45 am in the morning and 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Here’s the weather forecast for Faro, Portugal for the next few days – no sun to be seen until next Monday – and they’ll be back in Newcastle by then.
Oh well – the lads will get some good training in which is why they went – but no sun tans!
Comments welcome.
Note – we still use Fahrenheit in the US – for conversion purposes – 60 degrees Fahrenheit is around 15.6 degrees Celsius.

Comment #43Leazus, I don’t think clubs want to wait to the last minute but agents and selling clubs are more likely to do deal at the 11th hour or the player will be stuck where he is. Like the prices dropping on Xmas eve…..but what do I know!

Sadly, i forced to agree with you (Taarabt not coming to Newcastle).
What’s this I read from that Guillem Ballague that we have been chasing Jose Angel (21 year old left back) from Sporting Gijon?
Any info anybody?
