Another piece of bad news for Newcastle fans this morning is that Dan Gosling is out for the next three to four weeks, after his knee swelled up after playing three times in one week.
Dan Gosling – floating cartilage in his knee?
Dan has had a terrible injury to his knee, that he sustained last March, which resulted in having an operation on his ACL, and he only just returned to the Newcastle side, and had looked good, but then the knee swelled up.
The Newcastle club medics think the problem may be a floating cartilage, and are deciding what the next step should be – but it could be to have exploratory surgery, and if that happens he could be out at least another four weeks.
Alan Pardew talked about Dan this morning:
“It is such a shame – our medical team has worked hard with him,”
“He has felt a bit of swelling that won’t go away and we think we may need to have a look at the knee.”
“There may be a bit of cartilage in there so Dan is going to have to be patient and may be missing for three or four weeks.”
There’s some new news that the swelling, that it has not subsided with rest, so that’s not good to hear.
We would assume the club will go ahead with the exploratory surgery, and see what the problem is – and then fix it.
But it seems that Dan is going to be out until some time in March, which is a pity, and it must be so frustrating for the lad himself.
Here is a link to send a note to Dan via the Newcastle club, so he keeps his spirits up – I’m sure he’ll appreciate the messages.
But we should all remember that when the great Ben Arfa finally arrives back in Newcastle, the very last thing we want to happen is that he be rushed back.
Maybe Dan and Ben Arfa will not fully return until next season, and if that means they will have made perfect recoveries from their injuries, that’s OK with us.
