Gosling Out For Four Weeks With Knee Injury

Another piece of bad news for Newcastle fans this morning  is that Dan Gosling is out for the next three to four weeks,  after his knee swelled up after playing three times in one week.

Dan Gosling – floating cartilage in his knee?

Dan has had a terrible injury to his knee, that he sustained last March, which resulted in having an operation on his ACL, and he only just returned to the Newcastle side, and had  looked good, but then the knee swelled up.

The Newcastle club medics think the problem may be a floating cartilage, and are deciding what the next step should be – but it could be to have exploratory surgery, and if that happens he could be out at least another four weeks.

Alan Pardew talked about Dan this morning:

“It is such a shame – our medical team has worked hard with him,”

“He has felt a bit of swelling that won’t go away and we think we may need to have a look at the knee.”

“There may be a bit of cartilage in there so Dan is going to have to be patient and may be missing for three or four weeks.”

There’s some new news that the swelling, that it has not subsided with rest, so that’s not good to hear.

We would assume the club will go ahead with the exploratory surgery, and see what the problem is – and then fix it.

But it seems that Dan is going to be out until some time in March, which is a pity, and it must be so frustrating for the lad himself.

Here is a link to send a note to Dan via the Newcastle club, so he keeps his spirits up – I’m sure he’ll appreciate the messages.

But we should all remember that when the great Ben Arfa finally arrives back in Newcastle, the very last thing we want to happen is that he be rushed back.

Maybe Dan and Ben Arfa will not fully return until next season, and if that means they will have made perfect recoveries from their injuries, that’s OK with us.

Comments welcome.

Gutted for tha lad, but like you say Ed, if he AND Ben Arfa only return next season, they’ll be fully fit and we’ll finally get the best out the both of them.

This my last posting on this site because I am sick of the villification that I took over a week ago for telling the truth about the injuries to Carroll and Gosling, based on my own medical knowledge and a family contact I have within the game. The trouble is that some of you muppets believe the shite put out by the FCBs’ gobshite yes man Pardew, whose sole aim this month has been to stop the fans putting pressure on Ashley to replace long term injuries to key personnel i.e. Carroll. The problem with Carroll is a tendon, not a muscle and he will not kick a ball in anger until the beginning of March at the earliest. He isn’t even running, except of course to the casino. Gosling will be lucky if he plays again this season. Everton were right in witholding a contract offer. There are none so deluded as those who go around with their eyes closed. Oh, and there won’t be any arrivals either. Farewell.

bit negative Jimmy… chill out pal. People may have villified you but its there opinion and theyre entitled to it just as you are yours. and I dont think Ive read as much negativity on here about our manager whose doing a really good job btw since he first came here. what if a couple o people are injured this happens in football and I still think that when all are fit again we have one of the strongest teams in the EPL

I did think for some one who had been out for so long we played him to much. He had 70 mins in a reserve game, 10 at snderland and then another fair chunk of a game in the reserves a few days later. He was rushed back if u ask me. He should had this amont of football in 3 weeks not a week. A bit nieve of AP i think.

Pardew’s to blame for the Carroll injury he left him on at Tottenham when he was clearly struggling, also gosling’s injury played him too much, Pardew’s just a puppet and a clueless one at that, he represents perpetual failure, and he’s a liar, so fits in well with his other 2 mate’s the 3 (liar) cockney stooges. I hate Pardew and can’t stand his voice.

On Gosling & Arfa we should not ruch them back this season maybe give them a game towards the end we should have enough to stay up without them. Next season with them 2 & a couple of good signings we should start to push for europe

Serious? yous hate Pardew? peeps, I was one of the first to condemn ashley after what he did to hughton but im sorry to say that after Pardew has come in I think hes better than Hughton. He doesnt just play the same team every week. He isnt run by the players, he is also an open man and very forthcoming. I felt the same when it all happened but surely yous cant be blind to see that he seems to have bettered the team….. I might as well get mesel lynched proper by saying that I think Ashley is now finally doing whats right for the club whether some of you like it or not, I have never supported this man but I can see that things are going in the right direction and Im excited by it. Pardews a puppet? Hughton was the players puppet

Sorry lads, but I do remember Jimmy’s comment in the last week or so about Carroll’s injury. He definitely called it and everyone jumped on him hard. Don’t be too pissed that he was right. We all lose in this one (including Jimmy) as Carroll will be out for some time to come.

We need striking options, but don’t see Ashley spending money anywhere but in the casinos. I still believe Pardew is covering for the Board’s lack of desire to sign anyone. Disappointing and frustrating for us fans. Every day that passes in this window without a signing other than HBA feels like a kick to the goodies.
