Spanish striker Xisco cost Newcastle a whopping £5.7M from Deportivo in 2008, and that’s one of the worst deals ever done at Newcastle – and it was by Dennis Wise.
Xisco – could be given another chance by Pardew
And there was news that Championship club Middlesbrough, who were relegated with Newcastle two years ago, may be interested in the 24 year-old.
But this is what Alan Pardew said on that today:
“I’ve not heard any news on Xisco, I was surprised to hear the story.” “There has been no contact with Middlesbrough at all.”
“We have contacted a number of Spanish teams to see if they are interested.” “He’s a lovely lad and popular with players here. He’s lost his way a bit.”
“I’ve sat down and told him that if nothing comes out in the transfer window this time, he will stay and we will try to get him back on the scene again.”
“We’ll work with him. Sometimes it’s not about the attitude of the player, it’s about the attitude of the club as well, and we’ll work him.”
“If he’s prepared to change things a bit, I’m prepared to as well.”
Those are excellent words from Alan, and he seems like a very good man-manager, and we had heard before that Xisco was a popular lad in the dressing room..
And while Xisco has not done too much on Tyneside, a few fans, including my son Neil, think he just hasn’t been given much of a chance on Tyneside.
And we remember earlier in the season when he got a few run-outs on the left wing, and he looked good.
Certainly the lad did well against Aston Villa, when he brilliantly set up Andy Carroll’s third goal in injury time – and Newcastle made it an unbelievable 6-0 in their first Premier League game at home, since coming back into the big time.
Maybe Alan needs to give Xisco a run out as a sub in some upcoming games – at least give the boy another chance – he may surprise us all.
And for both his sake and for Newcastle’s sake, we hope he does exactly that!
Comments welcome.

Comment #203No, sgt, I’m not acting like I’m above anyone. I’m clearly above you if you can’t see being homophobic is primitive and archaic.

Comment #204nothing homophobic bout what i said you idiot, i said i dont want to see it on nufcblog, if i did i would go to xisco is gay.com. Furthermore i also said i dont care if the lad is gay or not as long as he plays well for nufc, thats all that matters to me, so learn to read before you judge and lable somebody a homophobe, just because your gay doesnt mean thats the reason i dont like you, i just dont like you…lol

Comment #206it’s hard to decipher if that last sentence of yours is referring to ME as gay, but I assure, I’ve been with woman most of you could only dream of! ha, i’ll probably get slagged for that but you know what, at the end of the day when I’m routinely laying down to what you can only whack-off to, you can think of that.
and yes, SGT, don’t back track. your comments were quite clearly homophobic. Mention (in jest or otherwise it’s irrelevant) of suicide due to forced exposure to homosexual activity (albeit PG-13 stuff) is not homophobic? C’mon!
Nuff arguing with you over the internet. You’re the idiot clearly, not me. Good day, lads 🙂

Comment #213Look matty, obviously if you are reading comments on here looking to cal people homophobe’s then you have a vested interest in the matter…lol
I am 27 years old married with 2 kids. I am retired from the us army after 3 tours in iraq as an infantryman. I was wounded in combat. “combat” something your punkass could never make it through….Questioning my sexuality is funny at best.
Don’t get mad cuz i busted you out on nufc blog, change your name we will forget about it in a week. LOL

Agreed. Everyone is getting pissed at the smallest things right now. We are all upset at the lack of desire to add to the squad.

Comment #223I would not loan us a striker if I were a big team looking to give a player some game time. If Carroll is fit he is automatic first choice. We have Ameobi, Best, Mclovin, Ranger and Xisco.
Ameobi has been around for years and is good for a goal or two. He is mediocre and needs to go.
Best has shown glimpses of quality and deserves the chances that Ameobi has had. He wont get it until we get rid of Ameobi. He has a season to prove himself.
Mclovin has good speed and skill in the box and offers something that the others dont have. He also gave his all for the team when his pa died and in the process, for me, became a real part of the spirit of the team. I hated that Chris never gave him a chance when we got back up. I’d keep him as long as he wants to stay and retains his speed.
Ranger looks like he has talent and creates many chances when he is on the pitch. He should either be starting games or he should be out on loan getting game time.
Xisco deserves a chance but I don’t see why he isn’t playing every week for the reserves if he is such a keen footballer. I think he is here for the wage and represents.
To get a player on loan they would want to be higher than fifth choice striker and until we sort out out own stocks we wont attract the quality we need. We need to take some risks and let some people go.

Comment #224Can we just conclude that the reason Alan Pardew (and even CH) didnt give Xisco the chance is because he is not GOOD enough?
