Nolan And Guthrie Both Fit For Fulham On Wednesday

Alan Pardew has said today that 23 year-old  Danny Guthrie is fit and will be ready for the important league game at Fulham on Wednesday evening.

Danny Guthrie – raring to go on Wednesday night at Fulham

We had been getting a little worried about Danny,  since he hasn’t been in the Newcastle first team much at this season, but he did a great job when he came on for the injured Alan Smith against Sunderland, and again he had a good game against top side Tottenham in our last game.

And the former Liverpool midfielder was thought to be an injury doubt following that 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, when he hobbled off in the second half.

But Danny was simply suffering from cramp, and  as a precaution Guthrie did not participate in the training camp in Portugal, as he rested up with a few of  the other Newcastle players.

Captain Kevin Nolan also sustained an ankle knock, but the Newcastle leader will be in the side for the important Fulham game on Wednesday.

Pardew told the local Evening  Chronicle today:

“Danny will be fine for Fulham. He did not train, but he’s OK.”

“Kevin had an ankle knock and also didn’t train, but he will fine too for Fulham.”

It would be just great if Newcastle can get all three points on Wednesday night, because it still hurts that the lads gave away those 4 points in the last two game  – and yes we’ll get over it some time – maybe in a year or two. 😀

Fulham play Spurs in the FA Cup fourth round tomorrow afternoon in a game that kicks off at 4:00 pm, so that could give Newcastle an advantage on Wednesday, since it’s a short three days later.

Pardew talked about Portugal – where the weather was damp and miserable – and you thought it was bad in Newcastle.

This is what Alan said today:

“The weather out there in Portugal was pretty damp and miserable.”

“But at least we had the chance to get some solid training done on grass and I caught up with a few of the players.”

”We also rested a couple of the lads.” “We came back together as a group and, in terms of fitness and football, it’s looking good, it was worthwhile to go.”

“Now we are just focused on Fulham.”

when he  had some of his best games for Newcastle.

Newcastle need to push on this season, and finish as high as they can, because for one thing that will persuade good players to join the club this summer.

1St comment sweet. but is guthrie really the answer if Nolan and Carrol were fit I would exicted. Still Fulham should be 3 points. Tiote Ben arfa carrol nolan Barton in the same midfield is a awesom prospect. watch out prem league were coming back.

i think we have a nice little run of fixtures coming up apart from maybe arsenal and birmingham away, if we get a good result against arsenal then we could potentially go unbeaten til we play man u at sjp and wouldnt it just be fantastic to break there unbeaten run. infact we only have to play 3 of the big 5(liverpool are not included in the big 5) and i think all of those matches are at home so maybe we can overtake the scum and we should overtake blackburn and liverpool as we have a game in hand.

we might just end up with a europa league spot come the end of the season and wouldnt that be amazing considering we where in the ccc last year

Any inside info on any transfers guys, apart from the usual gossip in the press? I have to say I would be pretty happy with Ireland and Larsson. As long as Ireland can rediscover his form and a loan deal and everyone wins.
Really dont understand why we arent being linked with Kranjcar or O’hara??? Im hoping we try and grab either of them on deadline day.

Come on Ashley..get your wallet out

Good news that these two are up for selection against Fulham.

On a different note i have just been reading an article about Shay Given willing to drop to the championship for 1st team football.

would anyone have him back as what a defensive line up that would be to get him back, Colo in the form of his life, Enrique best LB in prem this season and Williamson playin well, just need a RB to top it off…

We havent had a good defence for as long as i can remember. Things look good 😉

Darlo apparently Pardew does not like keepers who can’t kick to teamates(Krul). So getting a keeper who is the worst kicker (Given) is a no no! Great shot stopper mind!

DarloGeordie, that would be a real kick in the balls for Harper, bringing Given back. I’d be ashamed.

ya i dont think it would be fair bringing given back, plus do we really need to spend money on him and his wages. harpers the man in my eyes. gettin really sick of checking transfer gossip now.. its being the worst january for gossip ever. really need a new striker though. see oba back in premier league with birmingham…..

    Points noted lol cheers.

Im just not to keen on Krul but still has a bright future ahead of him due to his age….

Hopefully tomorrow and Monday we will bring someone in, can’t wait to see Ben Arfa back in action there seemed to be something special about this lad
