Carroll Resumes Training – Wants To Stay At Newcastle!

12:08 pm, Monday, January 31st, 2011 by Ed Harrison · 428 Comments

Andy Carroll wants to stay a Newcastle United player and isn’t keen at all on any move away from Newcastle.

Andy Carroll - wants to stay on Tyneside

And the great news for Newcastle fans, is that the striker has received the all-clear from a Swedish thigh specialist to resume training, and he will do that today on Tyneside.

We suppose he could be ready for the game at Fulham on Wednesday night, but that may be jumping the gun a little.

And Mike Ashley has again done the right thing and just turned down a £30M bid from Liverpool for the lad, and we have to hope there’s no way Mike will accept any offer for the local hero.

Carroll is back in Newcastle today, and a source close to the player told the Evening Chronicle today:

“He’s in Newcastle and he’s going to be at the training ground today.”

“That should tell you everything you need to know about whether he’s staying or going.”

“He’s tired of saying how much he wants to stay.”

That’s only one reason the local lad is a hero to Newcastle fans, because he only wants to play for his home town club – the famous Newcastle United – and we love players who want to do that.

And of course if Newcastle do accept the offer from Liverpool,  Andy could technically turn down the move down, even if he was offered £75K/week from Liverpool.

But he shouldn’t be put in that position and Mike Ashley can gain a few friends on Tyneside today by rejecting all bids for big Andy.

And of course Newcastle will renegotiate Andy’s current deal, once this all calms down a bit.

Comments welcome.

if it was 1 of the top four he might go but lfc is on the decline and are no longer in that bracket. so take a hike and “calm down mates” ha ha ha ha.

  • 4 MacToon // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:19 PM

If I were Andy it would be so so easy to stay at NUFC. He’s living the dream and can’t wait to score some more goals for the Toon.

Back in training already great news especially because weve got arsenal on saturday!

    He’s Newcastle’s No9 – England international

Playing in front of 52,000 screaming Geordies.

    Q. Why would he want to move away?
    A. Cash

Renegotiate his contract to a sensible wage for a £30million forward – problem solved.

    MacToon – exactly mate.

  • 9 boater // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:24 PM

Dublin Steve -Don’t think liverpool are on the decline mate. I think they have arrested the decline. Much as I hate to say it, think they will improve this season under KD by getting back to basics and bringing in some much needed additions in this window.

Mactoon – are you 8? Yeah, yeah we’d all love to play for the toon, but what has that got to do with it man? If the club take the decision to sell then that’s it, doesn’t matter about your shearer bleedin duvet cover. Get real.

  • 10 Solaidback // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:25 PM

Dublin Mag – why would he suddenly change his mind if a top 4 club came in for him, he’s said it there, he doesn’t want to play for any other team, so what makes you think he’d leave for a top 4 team??? wake the f****k up for f***s sake!!!

  • 11 traceline // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:25 PM

if one of the top 3 (or madrid, milan etc) come in for him, we might have a problem as they’d be able to dangle “immediate” glory in front of him.

Liverpool tho? hahahahahahaha….. laughable. for once we seem like the more stable club in all this… I honestly bet carroll took one look at those headlines and thought “what would be the point?”

Good man Andy – proving there’s more than money to all this.

Lol gotta love SSN news round up…

Ashley young staying at villa, liverpool havent agree deal with chelsea for torres, newcastle reject bid for Carroll…

so to paraphrase…Breaking News….there is no transfer news!

    I’m still hooked though!!!

  • 13 Jamma // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:26 PM

If I was a pro I’d sign a contract for the whole of my career for the toon tomorrow. Then anybody could speculate as much as they want.

I wouldn’t take £100m for Big Andy, he’s 22 – over the next 10 years or so he is going to be much much more valuable than that to us. Bottom line, he gives us hope, that in my view is invaluable.

  • 14 Solaidback // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:27 PM

Dublin Mag – why after saying he wants to stay a he Toon & not play for any other club makes you think if a top 4 club comes in for him, that he’d change his mind??? wind yer nekc in yeah!!!

  • 15 Davies // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:29 PM

Actually, Boater, if the club decide to sell, Carroll has to agree terms with them. He’s not obliged to speak with any other club if he doesn’t want to.

    Clearly, he doesn’t want to.

  • 16 Solaidback // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:29 PM

Boater – Clubs can’t sell a player if the players doesn’t want to be sold & vice versa…. :)

  • 19 garyharri // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:32 PM

I just hope to god that we noobody of any significance leaves we need our squad. I hope we have a suprise signing too but cannot see it. Ireland could be a good signing if his head is in the right place. I also we think we need someone pacy as apart from Jonas and Jose we are very flat footed. Pace is a neccesary component to any good side in the premier league. HTL

  • 20 boater // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:33 PM

Players leave clubs reluctantly all the time, just as clubs accept transfer requests reluctantly. Beardsley didn’t want to go to liverpool from newcastle, neither did Gazza. Ferdinand didn’t want to go to spurs, but they understand that it’s a business and they have to act accordingly at times.

  • 21 dublin mag steve // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:33 PM

solaidback every player has their price and when the big guns come knocking even the most loyal of players can have their heads turned a player of shearers loyalty comes along once in a blue moon lets hope weve got 2.

  • 22 Jamma // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:35 PM

boater! Haha quite good that one mate. Just pointing out, i’m toon through and through, why would I want to play for anyone else? Number 9 is worth more than a paycheck to me..what difference does it make if you earn £40m over the course of your career or £20m? Wages wouldn’t mean shit and painting on a fake smile while lifting a trophy for a club I don’t give a shit about is ridiculous. Much rather lift one trophy for the toon than 100 for Manure, sorry but that’s just my opinion, so you can take your “sensible” crap and shove it.

  • 23 Davies // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:36 PM

Nice on Jamma. With you all the way on that. Hope AC is too.

  • 24 boater // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:38 PM

By the way, I think (touching a lot of wood) that AC will still be here tomorrow.. my point is – relying on his blind faith as a toon lad as the sole reason for him to stay forever and ever, is nuts. We need to constantly be improving the the squad, so that the likes of AC, tiote, enrique want to be a part of something which is upwardly mobile. Not just ‘sticking’ as we’ve been spoon-fed all transfer window.

Just look at liverpool now – they failed to address the squad issues over the past 2 years and their star players are wanting out.

  • 25 thegreatoba // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:38 PM

    Jamma @ 21

    spot on mate…

  • 26 NEWEXPATMAGPIE // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:38 PM

What we need to do to stop all this bullshit is tie down all of the players we have had offers for to long term deals!

This includes Enrique, Tiote and Barton! Until we do that we are gonna get all this crap every time a window comes round! Ours is still a team under development, and if anything we should be strengthening and not selling!

It looks as if Ireland is coming on loan/ (Rehabilitation) to us. Everyone says he,s talented, but he comes with a reputation as a troublemaker. Not gonna judge him till he,s played a few games for us.
Not pleased that van Aanhout has gone on loan to Leicester City! as i thought we were interested in him? and i still think van Wolfswinkel is worth following for the future!

Wait for a rush of last minute trans this evening before the window slams shut. Hopefully nothing involving any of our players though!

  • 27 boater // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:42 PM

Jamma – so your point is what!?! You love the toooon so much you would want to stay forever and ever.. Ah that’s nice. I’m pleased. Thing is this forum isn’t about how much you or we love the toon. We’d all play for newcastle forever, cos we’re mags dreaming about playing for our beloved club. There are real life grown ups who also have a say in the matter though.

Shouldn’t you and Davies be in school today anyway!?

  • 28 BiffBaffBoff // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:42 PM

Pardew press conference delayed because I believe he wants to announce Ireland signing + Barton signing a new deal.

  • 29 GeordieGerman // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:42 PM

Pardew probably can’t take the press conference till someone comes in and takes the shotgun over that he has now got pointed in the direction of Ashley and Llambias.

  • 30 dublin mag steve // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:43 PM

boater i beg to differ about liverpool if you think kd is gona turn them around your off your loaf he will lose out on tactics everytime, bangin your chest and saying how much the badge should mean will only get you so far their midfield is shit its wafer thin theyve no options i admit their trying to address the squad issues but that wont b easy with no champions league football on offer.

  • 31 joe // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:45 PM

it’s unrealistic to think that every newcastle player will have the same loyalty as you jamma, even andy carroll for that matter. I’m newcastle through and through too, but if barca or milan came calling and told me they wanted to build the team around me, it would be pretty damn hard to say no! That’s not because i dont love newcastle, but because i have ambition to play for the best clubs in the world.

£30m FFS!! SELL HIM and buy him back for £12m next year. That’s all he is worth. We could sort the whole team out for that sort of cash…

  • 36 boater // Jan 31, 2011 at 12:49 PM

dublin mag – I hope you’re right. If they do get adam, ashley young (or n’zog) in today as expected. Another decent striker to play alongside Suarez they will line up a whole lot better.

They have looked a lot better in the past 3 games mate. 3 or 4 signings and they’re gonna be coming back into the top 7 easy.. like I say everyone else is adding at the moment. Sturridge to bolton n’all,, not that he’s what we need, another 1 in 6 striker like, but good player for that side.

He’s worth £30m now and he’ll still be worth £30m in the summer. Newcastle have no need to sell Carrol and if he fulfills his potential then he’ll be worth even more. We need not do the Scousers a favour by selling our big man; let them stew….. Up the Toon!

@ boater – you make good point, same as Joe.

We’ll just have to hope big Andy is as passionate about the toon as he claims, he certainly shows it when he plays, and outlines it in interviews..

just saying – to most Geordies NUFC are the best team in the world regardless of trophies, other players or league position.

It is however likely that AC could have his head turned by wages and/or the likes of playing alongside the best players, only time will tell.

I for one would be gutted if that turned out to be the case.

  • 60 GeordieGerman // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:20 PM

Danufc9, he may even Ashley will be able to work out that there is little time to bring in a new striker.

  • 61 Toonkistan // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:20 PM

It all depends on Chelsea if they pay something like 50million and they sell torress..they will pay 35million and it would be very very hard to resist…this might smash all the transfer records …but the great thing is liver wants to secure carroll deal before they sell torres…i have serious doubts thats its gonna happen …also 2 big transfers on the deadline day would be too much to handle :P:P

  • 62 SuperShearer // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:20 PM

Tottenham had a 38.5 million bid rejected for Aguero. Frankly if they can afford that for an untested player in the Premiership, and it does make a huge difference, then surely we should demand the same for Carroll?

  • 63 Milzzy Rascal // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:20 PM

10 hours. I wish time would get a move on!!

  • 64 boater // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:21 PM

Jamma – I don’t doubt Carroll’s loyalty to the toon for one second. But the man in suits – super agents, high rolling billionaire owners are making all the decisions here. It’s not enough to think AC’s love for the no. 9 shirt is gonna come into it – when you’re talking deals up to a staggering 30+mil quid.

Much as I love him, that’s a massive outlay on someone half way into their first proper season at the top level.

  • 65 Toon-tinted-glasses // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:21 PM

Danufc9 – Especially when you hear the rumours that Torres is in a chopper heading to Chelski….Liverpool then have 40-50m warchest!

biffbaffboff – carroll signing yet ANOTHER contract is not like a new signing. A much needed new signing, that’s a new signing.

I will be incensed if we don’t get 2 more players in today. Most importantly a bleeding winger to replace Routledge – why let these players leave with no replacement?

  • 93 lewman // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:41 PM

i reckon that andy might just have secretly signed improved terms for his contract and that this along with the ireland signing and barton getting a new contract, will be unveiled today

  • 97 Norwegian-Geordie // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:43 PM

I believe wearing the Toon nr.9 is worth more than any amount of cash. Can’t put a price on that:)
To people who believe we should sell because 30 mill is a lot of money:
Yes, 30 mill could do a lot of good to the club but loyalty goes both ways. AC is loyal to the club and the fans so we should also be loyal to him and not jump at the chance when 30 mill gets thrown at the club.

  • 98 Whitecap // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:43 PM

There is no way Carroll would be sold without a striker coming in to replace him. Also, Mike Ashley would never be allowed to show his face on Tyneside again after showing Carroll and Hughton the door in less than 2 months. He would be a marked man.

  • 99 PrinceAlbert // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:44 PM

  • 105 boater // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:50 PM

Norweigan-Geordie. There are two scales here – one for us: the no. 9 factor, the strapping overnight charismatic, iconic local boy who has just got a cap for england. Priceless.

Then there’s the footballing reality. A player who has started less than 20 premiership games – valued just below Torres – a proven giant in world football, golden boot winner, and World cup winner.

I understand the laws of diminishing returns, but 35mil for Carroll without the geordie-tinted specs is insanely overpriced.

  • 109 Rorycn // Jan 31, 2011 at 1:54 PM

It’s not just the fact it’s alot of money that’s obvious. The thing you’ve got to think about is can we buy a striker as good/as much potential who offers the same qualities? He’s dominated every centre half he’s played against bar maybe vidic and he gave him a bloody good game. There are no 6″4 aerial, quick strikers who can finmish out there who would join newcastle especially not for 30 mill and the wages we pay now.

@newcastle29 – There is a point the club – any club – have to accept an over the odds offer for a player. Ronaldo at manure e.g.

35mil could buy you 3 or 4 really top young players, re-invested wisely in the squad wouldn’t be going backwards, just cashing in on another club’s panic and pay over the odds for a replacement player.

I’m praying he stays, just trying to be objective about the owners’ view.

  • 122 coolcatcarter89 // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:01 PM

    #

I DON’T KNOW THE MAN, therefore cannot provide insight. I know he has ploughed enough cash in to prevent insolvency.

I also know, Champions League football is worth far more than £30m. Mike has the business acumen to recognise this. Put it this way, hypothetically speaking, we sell Andy for £40m. This would show a complete lack of ambition, coupled with our wage cap, who else is going to be signed who could potentially score those goals to reach the goldmine? “3 or 4 good players”? Yeah ok then….. Conclusion, if Mike is driven solely by money – we keep Carroll. If he has a a more noble side, enjoys watching Andy – we keep him. If his intention is to sell the club, you keep your biggest assets – Andy. That my friend, is logical.

My post off the last thread, ignore the top part, just a little spat with somebody :)

I wish people on here would stop saying £30million+ is acceptable and we should sell.

I know its a lot of cash but we have to keep Carroll for the future ffs.

I believe with the new contract offers to our top players and choice buying in the windows we’re not far off having a squad that can challenge for trophies.

We’d never be able to replace him.

  • 126 stuckdownsouth // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:05 PM

Why would renegiotate his contract he’s just signed a 5 year deal, when it looked like big Andy might go to prison. If we don’t sell him great, but let’s not demand he gets a new contract!

40k a week is 2m a year, why would we want to almost double that with 4 1/2 years left.

  • 127 Rotonda heights // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:05 PM

    Rorycn

If you want to play that way, ie a big target man, but the top teams play proper football:- Manu, Arsenal, Barcelona etc. You can only play one way with Carroll and it’s not much better than watching Stoke.

There is no way Carroll is worth 30-35M. We’ve just played 4 games wiithout him and not been beaten once.

How is accepting 35m a backward step? We’ve been ofered a kings ransom here. We were offered 7M not that long ago. Take the geordie factor out of it and the sentiment and 35m is way too much to turn down.

Are people seriously saying we couldn’t get an adequate replacement for half the money or much less. Llorente is touted at 15M for example if you wa t to play the ”Crouch ” way.

  • 128 boater // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:05 PM

    @hitman – don’t do that mate.

@rorycn – Torres has been out of sorts this season – and still has 9 goals,, pretty good considering. He was injured last season but nothing wrong with him when he did play. He choked at the WC yep,, but certainly not been bad for 2 years. Just too injury prone if owt.

The problem if we sell him in my opinion is, at the moment AC could be the difference between us staying up and being relegated this season, and if we sell him, no matter how much money is being talked about, there simply won’t be enough time to find a replacement before the window shuts in 9 HOURS!

Surely MA knows this and will not be stupid enough.

And to all you people who are saying £30m should not be turned down. Well then they can accept in the summer instead when we’re still in the league, have more time to find a replacement, and his price will be exactly the same, if not more.

  • 141 Thump // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:13 PM

AC knows that it’s entirely possible that we could push for Europe this season despite coming back up (and yes, I know the players opinions on that). I don’t think we’ll sell him, nor will he sign for them because we can all see Newcastle doing good things – why do that? This isn’t comparable to when Andy Cole was sold because then we had other goalscorers and money to burn.

8 hours until the window shuts… longest 8 hours I’ll see this year.

  • 142 boater // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:13 PM

Lesh – why would they have to spend that now? Get in short – term loanee from the buying club and re-invest in the summer.

  • 143 coolcatcarter89 // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:15 PM

Rotonda – I’m saying we couldn’t get an adequate replacement because of the wage cap. Andy WILL score goals, why take the risk?

As for, do you want to play the “stoke” way? Give me a break. Shola has played in the last 4 games yet we’ve played some decent stuff on the deck, and he’s a donkey. It’s called mixing it up, that’s why a nippy striker is needed alongside Carroll. Besides the last four games have been down to an outstanding defense in my opinion (but for a couple of lapses).

  • 144 dave 1961 // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:15 PM

What should be considered is Ashley had a club worth £240 million, now he has a value of £280-300 million, what is his 5 year plan, ? this just so happens to be how long it would take sports direct to become the market leader throughout Europe, I am confident that Ashley’s plans for his toy is now to follow that of his business empire. He’s made more than£30 while the transfer windows been open, I think he will keep Carroll and make an investment in the close season of 20-30 million and push for Europe to get maximum expose for sports direct, and I have a feeling he gains a few friends along the way.

  • 145 Rorycn // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:17 PM

Rotondo heights, Llorente wouldn’t come. Don’t be daft. That’s what i’m saying. You could roll off a list of players that would be cheaper and as good it doesn’t mean they would sign. LLorente was linked with barca and real recently.

  • 146 BiffBaffBoff // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:17 PM

If AC goes the whole team morale will be low, I know we’ve been unbeaten since hes been injured but hes still an important part of our squad and in the short term we can live without him, as we’ve proven, but in the long term we really need his goals as Ameobi, Best et al just aren’t as consistent at scoring as Carroll

Also, the window shuts in 8 hours time, what is the benefit of us having this £30m to spend when we cant use it untill the summer?

The Carroll deal rests of whether Torres goes to Chelsea. According to SSN, he has not left for London and he is currently still in talks with Liverpool.
My gut feeling is that Torres will stay, and then Andy stays where he belongs!

  • 211 Sinner // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:48 PM

More interesting developments at Newcastle. If you remember (at 1151), they delayed Alan Pardew’s pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Fulham and switched it from the club’s training headquarters to St James’ Park. Now they have cancelled it all together. Unless you have had your head buried in sand for the last few hours, you will know that Liverpool had a £30m offer for Magpies striker Andy Carroll rejected earlier on today… and it would appear Mr Pardew doesn’t want to talk publically about it, yet…

Even BBC is on this>>>>>>> :(

  • 219 JohnnyBrookes // Jan 31, 2011 at 2:50 PM

I’d tell them, torres swap or no deal whatsoever. How do we end up bummed on this deal? Torres goes to Chelsea, we lose Carrol and get 30m. Think logically its all about attracting players, we lose Carroll, that shows a real lack of ambition and therefore who can replace him honestly. We will not be able to attract a player of his quality.

    No chance.

True or my thinking is why do a conferance where all you will do for the duration is answer questions over Andy, whats the point he has stated many many times HE IS NOT FOR SALE, does the club wanna do this conferance to keep rebuffing claims and saying ONCE again he is staying.

NUFC you should ALL be calm he wont leave us for Liverpool, if massive clubs like Barca come in then it may change but atm he wants to stay we need him, there will be NO DEAL.

Another thought as well is they may of seen Blackpool are buying Beatie and may think they could buy DJ Campbell for the £2 Million clause in his contract?

Or they may need to find another quick loan in the CM or something so thats why they cancalled it?

I still think its because they dont want to have a whole press interview dominated by Andy if they do it tommorow for Wednesdays game then it will be about NUFC not Andy.

TORRES AND CARROLL DOMINATE DEADLINE HEADLINES
    By Press Association Sport staff
Fernando Torres and Andy Carroll were looking increasingly as though they would be making big-money moves to Chelsea and Liverpool on one of the most exciting transfer deadline days since the January window began.
Torres edged closer towards a record-breaking switch – reportedly worth £50million – to Stamford Bridge after it emerged the Reds were actively trying to sign a replacement for the forward.
That replacement appeared set to be Carroll, despite Newcastle rejecting a £30million bid for the 22-year-old this morning.
This afternoon saw the Magpies cancel their press conference for Wednesday night’s Barclays Premier League game at Fulham, fuelling speculation they were preparing for their star striker’s departure.

Mid-table is the best you can hope for under Ashley. He runs the team like his businesses – squeeze as much profit out of it as possible. He doesn’t want to win anything but a bigger wallet. Shameful if this deal is true. Why did he have to wait until the deadline? This puts us in a bind…there is no time to find a replacement this season.

I hope we can win at least 4 of the last 14 matches. We’ll stay up if we can do that.

  • 311 NUFC_Richyg01 // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:13 PM

We bough Shearer for £15M and some people said he was overpriced.

Now if we have/do sell AC for £35M + then I think that is good business. I think EVERY PLAYER has a price, we need to appreciate that.

Im not saying I want to see AC leave, but £35M+ is mega-big money!

  • 312 chris6033 // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:14 PM

2 things to look at here, IF the bid has been accepted, AC still has to agree terms…if he wants to move then fair do’s…. he isnt that loyal…. and we have £35m to replace him with

  • 318 Jamma // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:14 PM

Love how people are jumping on the Carroll leaving bandwagon just so they can say “I told you so”.

Even if he did go, he wouldn’t be the same player, who cares about scoring goals for Liverpool? I wouldn’t – even Torres doesn’t anymore, they aren’t even top 4 anymore – GET OVER IT! The reality is they are now our rivals – even if they paid £35m, why would we sell to our direct rivals?

  • 319 MacToon // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:14 PM

boater why you think he’s going? I doubt he is but with Ashley nothing surprises me. FYI I have been on this blog many many years now and been watching the Toon for decades, I also repeat

Shearer knocked back Man U for us so why can’t carroll, afterall he has many seasons ahead of him and no need for him to become a “journey man” so early in his career.

  • 320 daneevz // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:14 PM

  • 324 mattyNUFC // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:15 PM

you can’t call those people morons, ToonBry, when people are actually putting REAL bids, backed by REAL money.

If you have it stuck in your head that because he’s a local lad under no conditions would he leave, than i’d say you’re a bit more moronic than anyone here. How does any player get to another club? They all eventually leave their hometown club. Whether it’s by consent or otherwise is irrelevant. The reality is, ToonBry, Carroll is very close to being sold if someone comes in with that kind of money. And not because MA hates you or the club either

  • 325 munch27 // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:16 PM

All you people saying take the money do you really think the club would see any of the £35 million.

  • 326 JohnnyBrookes // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:16 PM

I hate this, Ashley your a nobhead.

  • 327 Thump // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:16 PM

Keep in mind that the Torres deal is supposedly £50m – L’pool have the cash to burn.

Also keep in mind this is the last transfer window before the fair trade rules come in; this is the most we are going to get for him and I’m sure Ashley is thinking that.

£35m straight back into the club for the summer window… but we will not get a goalscorer like Andy again. Guaranteed.

  • 328 Jamma // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:16 PM

£35m is big money? But why do we want it? To let everyone know we have mega-bucks to splash and therefore pay for overpriced players? Not our style these days i’m afraid, i’d rather get some players from Southampton or some of Tiote’s mates thanks.

  • 329 MacToon // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:17 PM

Same situation at Newcastle (not saying Carrol is as good as messi) but Club has said time and agiain he is not for sale and Carroll has said he wants to be here.

No one can call carroll for going anywhere, he will be trebling his wages and playing at a top 4 club. Fair enough they arent doing too well atm but l’pool will end up in the top 6 this season.

haha, id love if that were true Jamma, but BBC sports do cover the subject of sports journalism. Unless you do too? Please tell me you do!!! lol

but your right, it doesnt mean its happening

Isn’t it ironic that we’re having all this chatter under the blog post titled – “Carroll Resumes Training – Wants To Stay At Newcastle!”

This is turning out to be a nightmare…

  • 415 petey // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:54 PM

i know, and reading that article where countless times its said he isnt for sale and that he wants to stay etc etc. Its a mad world. Never trust a football club/footballer.

  • 416 Jamma // Jan 31, 2011 at 3:55 PM

petey – I don’t cover sports journalism, but if I was trying to sell newspapers, generate traffic for my website or coverage on my tv channel that’s exactly what i’d say too..

That’s it 5 pm in Germany and I’m going to hit the bottle.

  • 418 petey // Jan 31, 2011 at 4:01 PM

Question is, why would Carroll leave for a club like Liverpool who are fighting relegation this season?

    :-P!!!

  • 419 Jamma // Jan 31, 2011 at 4:02 PM

Sky sports have suddenly just changed their tune to “Liverpool have accepted” to “Liverpool are ready to meet the valuation”.

    Zzzzzzzzzzz

    UNCONFIRMED REPORTS.

  • 420 gorskino10 // Jan 31, 2011 at 4:03 PM

agree with Petey@ and also why on the last day this would hurt your loyal fans MORE than if you left earlier in the window he would be crazy to leave this club.

  • 421 connor_nufc // Jan 31, 2011 at 4:10 PM

Hes gone jus because reports are unconfirmed doesn’t mean there not true its over hes fcuked us over

News just in, Oba Martins officially at Birmingham. Unlucky blues!

If any Birmingham fans here, please know that Martins runs so fast that he forgets the ball behind him and will eventually always fall over.

So much for loyalty. £35 million for t he barrow boy to spend at the casino.

  • 425 PK-Norway // Jan 31, 2011 at 5:02 PM

HAHAHA …whats with ssn? Second bid rejected?

  • 426 dave 1961 // Jan 31, 2011 at 5:30 PM

we will not sell Carroll because of simple economics’ every player we went after next season will have 10 million onto their price, so £35 million will get us less then that £10 million would get now so no point selling. and it would take 3 years to start to get a good deal on players, so I am 99% sure it’s no deal, if Ashley needed £35m he could take it out of the club he has never done that so I guess he’s not that skint.

  • 427 dave 1961 // Jan 31, 2011 at 6:30 PM
