If nothing is announced within the next 15 minutes or so, then Newcastle will be the laughing stock of football again.
Mike Ashley – told Andy he had to go?
They have sold their top striker, Andy Carroll and left themselves only 7 hours in the transfer window to bring in a replacement – which it looks like they have failed to do.
So where do we stand now?
Without Andy Carroll for the rest of the season, and with nobody bought in to replace him.
Normally in businesses, like at IBM for instance, this level of incompetence would see heads roll.
But since the incompetence seems to be coming from the person who actually owns the club, we suppose the Newcastle owner will not sack himself.
Although that decision would be no more stupid than some of the decisions he has made at the Tyneside club these last three and a half years, which have been hell on earth to loyal Newcastle fans.
And my son Neil has just been on the phone absolutely furious with the goings on – which of course he has just been reading about – and he says he saw something that Alan Pardew may even resign.
We haven’t seen anything like that – but we feel that Mike Ashley has let his manager down big time – and maybe Alan should have heeded the advice of his friends, who implored him not to take on the Newcastle job.
And there is news supposedly coming through from Andy Carroll, that he was forced to move and told he had no choice – but that is unconfirmed right now, although we may hear more of this tomorrow.
The Sunderland Echo are now confirming this story that Andy was pushed out of the door by Mike Ashley.
I don’t think we’ve heard the end of this story by a long way, because as we said in earlier article – we really don’t know exactly what happened today.
To us it seemed that Andy asking for a transfer was all too convenient in letting the owner completely off the hook.
And the announcements about Andy’s move being official says that Newcastle accepted his transfer request, but then conveniently never mention that a fee had to first be agreed between the two clubs.
It just all seems rather fishy to us – that’s all – and all we want is the truth.
We all need to get to the bottom of what exactly happened today, that led to Andy Carroll being a Liverpool striker.
Comments welcome.

Comment #43On the thing about the offer being refused then accepted….
The way I see it 35million is plenty for a player with andys ability, but not for the symbol, icon and what he stood for. But when he requests a trasnfer then all goes out of the window and 35million is a nice price.
And trust me, noone is laughing at newcastle about this Ed.

Comment #45whats all this crap that he was pushed? How was he pushed? Ashley wasnt stupid, if he was worth £35m now imagine what he would have been worth in the summer? The tw*t wanted to leave and has back stabbed us. We shall never forget or forgive.
Gutted about no replacement, but no1 at the club would have imagined him handing a transfer request in so they it was out of the blue really. I hope ranger gets a real chance now and shows andy what he missed out!

Comment #46Ashley has certainly made life more difficult for himself with the fans, but then most of his recent decisions at first led to an uproar, until the club started winning and showing the ability to stay in the top 10. We as fans stopped worrying about relegation and turned our attention to Europe (albeit the Europa Cup). Now that dream seems dashed.
At the end of the year we are still in the EPL, we acquired some quality players, and we turned a nice profit during the transfer, which may or may not be used for new players.
Sounds like a good year to me….

Comment #48There is no way Ashley or anyone could force carroll to go. If he wanted to stay he could just say no.

“But hoping he comes and says what most of us think. He was told to go.”
Why the hell you hope he was told to go? So you can have another go at Ashley….surely you’d want it to be the fault of the bloke whos left??!!!
Seriously some people hate ahslye more than the love newcastle.

Comment #53Only February will tell how NUFC reacts on the field, and how the club moves forward for the future. I am upset, yes, because it all seems kinda dirty and typical Fatty Ashley. Honestly, Liverpool dump alot of cash on an unproven striker… let’s hope we invest this summer in some real quality.

Totally agree….. why complain, we were aiming to stay up and almost have, we have improved the squad Tiote, HBA, Gosling & Ireland got £35m for someone with half a premship season experience.
What does it take for people to support the club? He rejected £30m which i would have accepted in a heart beat. Nothing MA can do about player putting in request and a mad club offering silly money!!

Comment #57Naive, very naive. AC could have stayed, do you know how he was asked to go?
Do you know how MA treats people in his businesses. He lies, he cuts wages, he uses slave labour. Is it beyond him to tell a few porkies (well no, because he has done it before) to get AC to believe that he was helping the club by going is one way he could get him out, and I’m sure that there are others.
It will all come out eventually but I’m convinced he was pushed. Well on the one side we have MA and on the other we have the truth.

Comment #64Danufc9;
He’s on about 80k – 90k a week. An amount Ashley would never pay.
For those of you saying he wasn’t pushed, If you’re boss tells you have to leave, and you’re trebling your wages, most people would go wouldn’t they?

Comment #65If Andy was pushed, then there was some kind of advance thinking going on. And if there was advance thinking, then surely they would have had somebody lined up as a replacement. I think MA and DL are incompetent, but not that incompetent. Andy was not pushed, he was lured. And MA saw a great opportunity to try and win the fans by having Andy hand in a transfer request. MA is a sanctimonious liar, and Andy is just a greedy young man who will hear the wrath of the Toon faithful. Nuff said…time to move on!
