While we don”t really appreciate the way Sky Sports are going giddy about the proposed transfer news of Carroll to Liverpool and Torres to Chelsea – we have to admit the news today has been astonishing.
Mike Ashley – seems he turned down both offers for Carroll
Who would have ever thought that Andy Carroll would ask for a transfer away from the club he professed to love so much, but if the news is to be believed, that is exactly what has happened today.
And it came after Mike Ashley turned down the second bid of £35M from Liverpool – and as reported earlier – he did not accept that bid for Carroll, as Sky Sports had initially reported.
But then Andy turned everything upside down by requesting a transfer away from Newcastle.
And as we’ve said many times in the past, if a player does not want to play for Newcastle United – then so be it – even if it’s Andy Carroll.
If the news is true, then Andy Carroll has left a black mark on his time at Newcastle, since he has basically left the club, some may say deserted the club, since he only allowed Newcastle 5 hours to get in a replacement.
So we have to feel rather sorry for manager Alan Pardew, whose probably burning up the telephone lines right now, after one of his favorite players has left him seemingly in the lurch.
We hope Alan can bring in somebody good – and it could be on loan, although whether he can get a decent striker in before 11:00 pm local time tonight, is a good question.
We have to hope he does, and we’re still not sure if the Stephen Ireland deal has gone through at the club.
And we also see that Manchester City have launched a last minute bid to take Seb Larsson on loan to Eastlands.
Oh my – this has not been a good day for Newcastle United, that’s for sure – and now we’ll just have to wallop Fulham on Wednesday evening.
And knowing the lads we have on Tyneside right now – that could well happen – and of course we need a win.
Even more so after what has happened today – and of course it’s far from over.
And trying hard to look on the bright side, we will have some big money to spend in the summer – so that’s good. 😀
