It seems that Newcastle are desperately trying to replace striker Andy Carroll, with just 10 minutes of the transfer window left.
Crouch – Magpies bid of £12M turned down flat by Spurs
So why did they let him go if it leaves Newcastle in the ditch?
The answer is the money – and also that apparently Andy wanted to leave his home town club, after saying multiple times the only thing he wanted to do was play for Newcastle – wearing the number 9 shirt.
Right!
We really feel for Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, who seems to have been put in a terrible position by Newcastle being willing to sell their 22 year-old striker Andy Carroll, on the very last day of this transfer window.
And news that Arsenal have just rejected a loan bid for their Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner, and Pardew seems desperate to bring in a new striker at the club.
And news that Wigan Athletic have turned down an £8M bid for Charles N’Zogbia – but we’re pleased with that one, because we don’t want the Frenchman back on Tyneside. And later news suggest Newcastle raised their offer to £12M for the former Newcastle winger.
But it shows the panic that seems to be going on at Newcastle to bring some new players in.
We don’t want to be too simplistic here – but this is just suicidal management at Newcastle United – to let a key player go, when you have no replacement lined up and only 7 hours to get somebody in.
And we thought Freddy Shepherd was bad.
Newcastle will have some explaining to do to their fans, if Andy Carroll joins Liverpool (see below – it’s now official), and no replacement is brought in for him at Newcastle. We’d hate to have to explain that one.
And we have to be honest – if nobody comes in at Newcastle before the window closes – we’ll be a laughing stock again.
Sorry, you can’t put money on the pitch – only players.
And the official news is that Andy Carroll has duly completed his move to Liverpool.

Comment #82Doesn’t matter what we got for AC, there is nothing the fat man has done for me to believe we will spend it in the summer.
The timing is the worst aspect…no time to get a quality striker from Europe and no forwards in the UK that can replace AC for a decent price.
One last thing…floppy chops at the spuds is gutted that he couldn’t get AC. Everything he said earlier was said in spite.

Comment #83I feel this may be the clubs chance to progress in the long term. The money we will get in plus a bit more could see to us becoming/challenging to be a top 6 side every year and seeing us being recognised on the pitch for once rather than off it. Forget about Carroll, he’s gone, who cares why/how he left we get a great price for a raw talent who hasn’t even played a full season in the prem. All the best Carroll but HOWAY THE LADS LET’S FINISH AS HIGH UP AS WE CAN!

Exactly. We plan to be a stable club following the Arsenal model, I have no complaints by that. Gosling, Tioté, Arfa, Ireland, I’m really happy with them signings. More than happy. We’ve outdone ourselves. But they strictly told us, he was not going anywhere. That’s the killer. We wanted him to stay because we thought he was loyal to the club and wanted to take the no. 9 shirt with pride. If Ashley said we’d be selling Carroll, and we did so for £35million and got a replacement, or maybe even gave Xisco a chance, then I wouldn’t mind it at all. Van Persie, Fabregas, One day they were unproven in the premierleague, but Arsenal hung onto them, and look at them now. Still, they’re only worth around £25 million a piece, and truth is, Carroll might one day match that, but he’s got a lot of work to do to make that value right. He did good for us, but it’s time to move on. If we hadn’t been lied to, I wouldn’t have cared. Maybe if we had a replacement. We have good players, it’s not a one man team, but it’s the motive of the board. Keep lying to the fans. Well excuse me Ashley, The soul of this club and any club is the fan-base, just because we’re touted as the best fans in the world, doesn’t mean you can treat us like shit.
Rant over.

Comment #95The only winners in this mad merry go round are Chelsea. Both Liverpool and ourselves have been left weakened because believe me Andy Carroll is no Fernando Torres. Possibly the only other beneficiary will be the fat shopkeeper’s casino manager.

Just hope ranger turns out to be even better than Carroll! Here’s hoping! What’s the point though, if he comes good we’ll just sell him, its infuriating!

Still a Newcy fan. I support the team. But I’m through supporting the board till we get the signings we deserve with the money from Carroll. If we don’t spend at least £30 million this summer, I’m not going to support our board anymore, why? Because they treat us like crap. If we don’t get the needed investment, then selling Carroll is another step backwards. I was also thinking about Nolan, I feel for the lad. They were literally best mates on and off the field, how this will effect Nolan I don’t know, but Carroll owes a lot to Nolan, and Nolan well… I hope he moves on from this too. Nolan has no faith in Ranger, as seen in matches, and has no faith in Ameobi or Best, so I might be right in thinking his form will decline now. He had immense teamwork with Carroll and Barton in the midfield, and now well, the guy he looked after and knew really well, has gone. Maybe I’m over-exaggerating this and making it seem like a divorce or something, but the spirit our club has, it’s almost the same effect.

Comment #107I am gutted we have lost bigger fella, but we’d have been in bigger sh1t if we had lost Nolan or Barton. Its no coincidence that our worst runs have been when they were missing, whilst we have been able to cope with not have AC for the last 5 matches where we should have had max points.
At the end of the day, no one could turn down £35m for a player thats only played 35 PL matches. Thats a cool £mill for each match. Unbelievable
