At Least We’ll Now Have Under-Soil Heating At Benton

Bobby Moncur’s opinion is always worth hearing, when controversial things have happened at Newcastle, and Bobby has talked to the Evening Chronicle today.

Alan Shearer – the great Newcastle striker

This is what he said about yesterday’s goings on:

“I was very surprised to hear as a local lad that Carroll had put a transfer request in at such a late stage.”

“When I heard he was on his way to Liverpool, I knew we had seen the last of him at Newcastle.”

“Once you start talking to a club, your head is in the clouds and before you know it you are at another club.”

“In some ways if he has trebled his earnings, can you blame him?”   “In some ways to get a bid of £35m or more, can you blame Newcastle if they think they can invest in the team?”

“I said Spurs’ bid for £25m was paltry but £35m is closer to his true value.”  “When you look at what Torres left for Chelsea for, it has to be about right.”

And with money to spend in the summer Chief Scout Graham Carr and Alan Pardew will be doing their homework before the summer, and we could see some top players coming in.

We hope we see some top players coming in. 😀

We’ve been impressed with Graham Carr at Newcastle, and of course it was Graham who scouted and signed Cheick Tiote last summer.

Bobby continued:

“When you look at the players Graham Carr scouted and brought in, it has been good.”

“Ben Arfa and Tiote have been great coups and if we are able to bring in some more of similar quality then I would not be too disheartened.”

“Losing Andy is a massive blow for the fans because he was the most exciting player we have had since Alan Shearer.”

“We have lost him, but there is money in the pot and we just have to see where the club go from here.”

Of course a big question on Tyneside is just how much of that £36M, the club is said to have received for Andy Carroll,  will be given to Alan in the summer.

It’s a good question and we have no idea of course, but there’s one thing we can almost guarantee now – there will be under-soil heating at the Benton Training grounds next season.

Comments welcome.

If we can bring in Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Arda Turan in the summer it will make this whole fiasco slightly less bitter. Here’s wishing.

sammydolan – yeh he has, but he’s unproven at this level so I’m not sure. I’d go for astro.. ok he’s no prolific but he’ll guarentee u 10-15 goals a season!

I think you should all wait and see what league we are in before you start spending the money. Have just seen that Ireland is going to be out for at least 2 more weeks, which means that he won’t have played for at least 2 months, so don’t expect to see him available for selection until the beginning of March. I thought that Pardew had shown the depths of his stupidity with his decision making at Stevenage, but I’m afraid he is proving to be thicker as well as more gutless than even I thought. God help NUFC!

We’ll not bring in any big name players we don’t pay the wages. Under Ashley we have become a 2nd rate club & won’t get back into the top echelons until he’s gone

hes been out for a month and we have been fine and hes due out for 4-6 weeks still so whats everyones problems ben arfa and gosling would be fit before him then anyway him alone hasnt made the team weve been 4 games unbeaten including spurs and sunderland and people now saying we are going to be lucky to escape relegation! get a grip!

it was a well known fact he would want a new contract and club have every right to say we gave you a new contract 2 months ago and for a month you havent played and your due another month out how can that be justified when barton has to take a reduced wage and hes playing best football ever for us and if it wasnt for him carroll wouldnt score half his goals.

The end of the day its a fact we have tiote nolan enrique colo ben arfa when fit barton (best eng mid in country at mo) taylor which apart from top 6 would waltz into any other team in prem and some would get in top 6 still! noone is making these points 35 mill plus add ons can get us 40 mill . arfa and tiote =9.5mill so we can get at least 4 players like this and better with that money instead of scrounging around the basement bargain! we need 3 wins 1 draw to not go down and we have to play likes of birmingham at home wolves at home etc so stp complaining and get behind the lads that have done the business for the last month without carroll!

near 40 mill for a player who wanted a new contract or would leave when we are trying to do the arsenal model which they refused adebayor and he left etc no player is bigger than the club and 2 months after cannot be justified giving the players far too much power its simple. Of course ashley wanted this money anyone would it makes sense the not having a backup is a bit daft but so late in the day. motnhs ago people were saying 20 mill he’ll snap hands off and we got double that so fair play cracking deal. Ronaldo put in trasnfer request and he left and he was a much better proven and more important player. Of course the club should demand a transfer request he went away thought about it went to liverpool and signed. how many players have been told to go and they arent happy and decide not to i mean keane did it to birmingham so carroll had the chance to do it and he didnt he upped and left. Its a good deal for him and us if you look at the bigger true picture dont jump on the media band wagon look at the figures themselves!

Don’t count on Gosling coming back any time soon, that lad has serious problems, and Ben Arfa won’t even be training until the beginning of March at the earliest, so add another month on to that. And please, no pathetic songs about the mackems on Saturday, as they run their club a damned sight better than the pricks here run this one, and look at league table – they will be in the Premier League next season and will now finish a lot higher than us. Just seen that smug bastard Redknapp laughing his head off at our club. How low can we sink with the FCB? I think we’ll find out in the coming months.

Interesting how AC just happened to be hanging around NUFC headquarters and MA’s helicopter was standing by to forward the lad to Liverpool. AC & the club were both in on this & are now each tell lies for no reason at all. There was going to be a deal, it was going to be done at the last minute so no replacement could be secured.

As for Ireland. NUFC will hold him out until the very end, unless they think he can help avoid relegation. If they don’t need him this year they get6 a few games out of him and can buy on the cheap in the summer. If they do need him, and NUFC stays up or goes down, they can turn him back if AV values him too high.

dougski, in a nutshell spot on mate. At last the voice of reason!
    1) Club rejected 2xoffers £30/£35 mill
    2) Carrols agent told him L`pool willing to offer him £80k a week
    3) Carrol asked Pardew he wants the offer matched in a new contract
4)Club refuse quite rightly, team spirit broken immediately if they don`t
    5) Carrol says right I`m off
    6) Club says if you want to leave we need a written transfer request as we aint paying you 10% (£3.5 mill) and we need to prove you were the one who wanted to leave!
Can`t see anymore the club could`ve done and £40 mill is way over the odds for 20 championship and 14 premiership goals.
4x more wins and we`ll be ok(12x points should be enough)
    Ful (A)—1 point
    Arse(H)–1 pnt
    B`burn(A)-1 pnt
    B`ham (A)–1 pnt
    Bolton(H)–3 pnts
    Evert(H)–3 pnts
    Benny/Gos back!!
    Stoke(A)–1 pnt
    Wolves(H)–3pnts
    Villa(A)– 0
    Manure(H)–0
    B`pool(A)–1 pnt
L`pool(A)–0 plus break his bloody neck
    B`ham(H)–3pnts
    Chels(A)–0
    Wba(H)–3pnts
    TOTAL—21 points SORTED.!!

I said it yesterday , the way the press conference was cacelled…People whining about it was ashlys fault. I SAID IT YESTERDAY u stupid people.

If andy was a true geordie,if he really wanted to play for Newcastle United if he really loved the city and the fans he wouldnt have leaved the club. He tought about the money,AND HE PUSHED ASHLY ” give me a new contract or i leave” wtf? who wants a player like that in our squad…of course ashly sell him. Think about Colo, the Bull, barton , nolan and guti who stayed with us when we relegated and is still here and showing passion at the pitch they are the real heros of this club. That prick andy can fuck off and burn i dont care. Geordie boy my ass, Pardew has 36 mill and when i look at the players who we have bought in this season and the spirit we have.. we will stay up and we will be stronger next season. And i pray to God that Liverpool with ANDY CARROLL will be placed behind us in the table this season..i pray..

i am sick of people still thinking AShly wanted this..,.pardew says he will get all the 36 mill and Carrol wanted the money. We have bought smart last time with tiote and arfa and i trust we will buy smart in summer. We just have to stay up and get a decent place on the table so we can attract players.

Giving pardew, taylor and so long time contract shows just that Ashly want Newcastle to be a respectable club again. I trust him,yes he have done stupid things in the past, but i have a feeling we will come stronger out of this than Carrol and Liverpool, i think suarez will flop d and i hope carrol will do so too. Lets hope Shola and co can get in the head that its up to them now and show that on the pitch..i think Arfa will be much more loved than Carrol ever was…in Arfa i trust..and Enrique , collo, barton, nolan are the real heros, they was here when we relegated and they are still here..From today an onward i have not heard about a local lad from newcastle with the name carroll that once played for Newcastle with the famous nr 9 on..time to focus on the players who still wear black and white and hope barton give Carrol som decent tackles in anfield..

Dougski and CT have it right – lets get behind the lads until the end of the season and see whether they keep their word about spending the money in the summer.

don’t know what everyone else thinks but Pardew’s press conference on BBC seemed genuine to me – the club shouldn’t be held to ransom by anyone

    Life goes on, Carrolls gone.

When Martins left after we had gone down people on this blog were moaning about the fact that we had Ameobi and Carroll as strikers and how rubbish they were and that we should spend millions on the latest wonder sriker to have a You Tube video out scoring a goal.
In two years time we might all be cheering about Ranger or possibly Phil Airy and taking an amused look at Liverpool as they work out how to get Mr Carroll back on the rails, you never know!

dougski you make some good points but everything comes down to whether Ashley actually spends the money on the club for good players. I think he will spend a few million (up to 10 perhaps) in the summer but much of the money will go in his pocket. Only time will tell but I do not believe he will spend 35-50 million in the summer. It goes against every policy he has established for the club. None of our remaining games will be easy without a frontline striker. Ameobi is inconsisten to say the least, Peter very rarely takes his chances, Ranger isn’t ready, and the worst thing that could have happened was Best’s hat trick because some in the club including Pardew, think he is a Prem quality striker now. We should just squeak by this season and stay up but only because of points already in the bank.

    Another quote from Pardew

“We didn’t want to lose Andy yesterday, and if Andy really wanted to stay then he could have stayed. But he’s not here.”

Stating once again its Andy’s fault fro in Andys words “Jumping” at the chance to join Liverpool.

Despite claiming that he was forced out at Newcastle and did not want to leave the club, the highly-rated striker admitted he now has a massive opportunity.

    ANDY ‘Greedy’ CARROLL SAYS:

“When I knew [Liverpool’s interest] was real and that there was a chance for me to come here I knew it was a great opportunity and I had to take it,” Carroll told the club’s official website.

“Liverpool is a big club which is going places and this is a chance to show what I can do. What I did at Newcastle has got me here and now I have to carry it on with Liverpool.

“It’s a great feeling. The No.9 is a big number and the one I wanted. To get it at Liverpool is a great feeling.

“Liverpool is a massive club and it’s nice to be wanted by a club like this, never mind turning up and being here with everyone around.

“They have spent a lot of money on getting me here and I just want to repay them for what they have spent. I want to win trophies with this club and help push us forward.”

however angry i am with the whole situation i will still want Big andy to become the new england number 9 and become the best striker in england….until Phil Airey makes his mark in a few years and becomes the new alan shearer of course!!! (never scoring against newcastle for the rest of his career would be the only retribution i wish for)
as much is it pains me to see him leave, i don’t believe anyone will ever know the full story and I for one, think he’s a cracking player and hope he goes on to be the great player he can be….

no sour grapes from me !!

all this is now in the ast as far as im concernet. Forget Andy and get behing the team….

Dougski’s analisys is spot on !!!
