We wanted to hear from the Newcastle captain today, and Kevin’s done the right things and come out said the appropriate things.
Kevin Nolan – needs to rally the troops
And most importantly – Kevin has stressed it’s now time for Newcastle to move on without Carroll, who could possibly be out another two months with his thigh injury, by the way.
Nolan told the Evening Chronicle today:
“We’re all disappointed Andy’s gone. He’s a massive character.” “But he wouldn’t have been there last night, and wouldn’t have been there next week.”
“People move on. This club’s a massive club, and no player is bigger than it.” “We don’t know how long Andy’s going to be out for – eight weeks or so – and we’ve just got to put that to bed. He’s gone.”
“We’re all delighted for him on his move, but we’ve just got to get on with it.” “The main thing is we’ve got to do the best we can for Newcastle United.”
“The best for us is making sure we stay in this league, and I firmly believe we’ve got the quality in the squad to do that.”
Nolan didn’t support the two strikers as he normally does last night, although he’s more up field when the lads play a 4-5-1 formation.
But it was just a terrible game last night on an awful pitch, and Newcastle did not play well – it’s as simple as that – and we didn’t deserve anything from the game – and that’s what we got – nowt.
Kevin was disappointed by Newcastle’s performance:
“It wasn’t a great game. We feel so disappointed with the fact we’ve lost Shola after 10 minutes.“The game sort of petered out. They got their chance and took it.”
“It was just a dreadful night – losing Shola and the game – but I think neither team deserved to win.” “You’ve got to make sure you don’t give sloppy goals away, but we’ve done that.
“At the end of the day we’re paid by the club to do a job, and we’ve got to step up. The lads have been champing at the bit and shouting that they want to be playing games, so this is the time.”
“They’ve got to take their chance.”
News that Newcastle will look at the free agent market to see if they can bring somebody in – and one of the strikers available is Frenchman Jeremie Aliadiere, and while we don’t rate him too highly at all, he would certainly add to our capabilities.
Not sure if anybody better is available, but we’ll see.
And the lad would get tremendous support to do well for the club from the Newcastle fans, as the team is now in desperate need of somebody who can put the ball into the back of the net.
But Jeremie scored just 11 times in 78 appearances for Middlesbrough.

Comment #122i reckon mr fantastic would do a good job, he could just stand in the middle of the pitch and could make a goal line clearence to the other end of the pitch with his outstretched leg and then header it in himself.

Comment #123Finally brought myself to watch his interview. It looks perverse, him in red 🙁 . I agree with you Carl92, I think its dawning on him, the enourmity of what he’s done, almost seems depressed in that video! Why shatter so many dreams, including your own? I smell a rat, a fat rat.

Comment #124I can’t believe pardew got rid of our only player with pace in routledge. Guthrie, Nolan and barton must be the slowest midfield in the league !!!
