Newcastle May Scour Free Agent Market For Striker

News today that Alan Pardew has been given the go ahead to scour the free agent market, to bring in a new striker, after Shola Ameobi was injured last night.

Jeremie Aliadiere – this former Arsenal striker is available

Pardew also lost Xisco on loan to Deportivo la Coruna, and that was just terrible timing, and Ryan Donaldson is out on loan at Hartlepool and Amble-born striker Phil Airey is out injured with a hamstring injury.

Ryan started his career as a striker and played there for the England U17 side a few years back.

It seems former Arsenal and Middlesbrough striker Jeremie Aliadiere may be the bets bet, and if Newcastle are to make a move expect it to be done very quickly so he can play on Saturday.

But we have never rated Aliadiere too highly – but beggars can’t be choosers, as the saying goes.

Pardew told the Evening Chronicle today:

“It is a possibility. We have to explore every avenue. The situation is we are short on bodies.”

“We will have Ryan Taylor back soon and I am looking forward to having Cheick back in the team on Saturday.”

“That will be a big boost for everybody.”

OK – so who are the free agent strikers who could do a job for Newcastle through the end of the season?

Be quick because Alan will be checking this site in an hour or two for some of the players. 😀

Comments welcome.

Note:

If you have a subscription to NUFCTV – have look at Jose’s interview last night after the game  – he comes across just great – and said he wasn’t worried about Andy leaving because it was good for Andy and it’s good for Newcastle, because we got big money for him. He didn’t seem bothered at all that Carroll had left.

This Spanish lad comes across so great – and he even admitted he should have done better on Duff’s goal.

Jose also said the pitch was  ………………….  and after hesitating a little said what’s opposite to dry – and the interviewer said – wet? 😀

    Nightmare state of affairs.

We should move for Milevskiy in the summer, exactly the type of player we now need, and could be gotten! not like some of the silly names i’ve seen mentioned

Is it too late to get Martins, Keane, xisco, vela or any of the other tens of available players from the transfer window which shut a few days ago?

I wouldn’t mind Aliadiere tbh. Anyone will be better than Best, after his performance last night.

This club is laughable, why oh why was I born a Geordie 🙁

As boater keeps saying on here, we needed bodies in even before we lost Carroll and now we’re gonna search for players out of contract or in other words, players who are not wanted anywhere else!

the only strikers i know who are free agents are aliadiere and franny jeffers and they are both shite. there is a perfectly good reason why a striker becomes a free agent and its nothing to do with how ugly they are its plain and simple its because they are simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO GET A CONTRACT OFF ANYBODY.

He’s the only one out there and only scored 4 in 20 for the past 2 Championship seasons. He’s not a goal scorer.

Best bet is to find an old school Euro hasbeen who is willing to cash in a la Kluivert

Instead of worrying about bringing in useless strikers we should play to our strengths and work on build up play that allows our mids eg Nolan arfa Barton to get into scoring positions. If we can get the ball into the box I’m sure best will score a few more. Even shearer wouldn’t have scored last night with the service best got.

OK, I’ve done my deep breathing and my knees are sore from my yoga position, and I’ve reviewed how I feel about things – well, the weather is still bad, I’m short of money, not much work about, I’m still pissed off about the pathetic FA cup loss and the totally incompetant transfer deadline cock up. So, we are now running around like headless chickens looking for rejects no one else wants. – unbloody believable.
And the positives? well there is a chance we will still be in the PL next season (no I don’t mean spring I mean 2011-12) – and to do this we must use what we have to their best strengths, and we do have some talent (including youngsters) – but have I seen any sign that Pardew is good enough to do this – so far I’m affraid not.

The former Newcastle City Council leader said: “I think [selling Andy Carroll] is a terrible move for the club. I’m a season ticket holder and like the other 50,000 masochists who turn up at the ground every week I’m very unhappy about it.

“I’m not suggesting we have a Mubarak-type demonstration outside the ground on Saturday, but perhaps something like it

donno78 – yes, I said the same earlier this morning – play our best players in any possible possition – with Barton & Nolan up forward and no long high balls punted up in hope. It will totally baffle the first defences they come up against.

Out of our 25 man team we have 14 players whio can play atm…. thats taking ameobi out and putting tiote back in. then we have reserves……. soooo bad this crack

Early December 2010, the word ‘stability’ was being used in every report on newcastle.

February 2011, we are looking down lists of emergency unwanted strikers.

Is there a list of available managers with a spine?

Joke club. Crap owner. Totally discredited manager. Liverpool got rid of their owners but we cannot because we are spineless. Crap owner has won and cowed us into saying now and putting up with all this bollocks.
