Good Feelings In The Newcastle Squad

We would have expected that there were some reports that Newcastle players were down-hearted a bit,  and a little of that was in the Newcastle Journal today.

John and Alan – need to rally troops – but morale seems good

But Alan Pardew has called those reports just ridiculous and untrue, and of course Andy Carroll’s £35M to Liverpool has been relayed aorund the world – a just turned 22 year-old Geordie worth £35M. It was even reported in the USA Today in America.

Even though the Journal had said Andy Carroll was back in training Monday, that turned out to be false, and it seems that Andy’s thigh injury will keep him out another 8 weeks, and he’s already been out 5 weeks with it.

So maybe the good news (?) is that we would have been in a similar situation even if Andy Carroll had not  been sold – and that’s another  way to look at it.

Pardew is keen to move on, and we don’t blame as he told the Evening Chronicle today:

“There’s still a good feeling here.” “I looked at some paper reports and they said we were looking dejected on the pitch because of Andy’s departure.”

“That’s ridiculous. He’s out injured and wouldn’t be playing even if he was here.”

“He hadn’t played in the four games before that and there has been a good feeling on the pitch.”

The lads will get phenomenal support tomorrow, and it could be a packed-full St. James’ Park, and it’s all set up for some Newcastle heroes tomorrow.

Wonder if we’ll get some, and we wonder who they could be?

A win will be fantastic – and that’s an understatement!

Howay The Lads!!

Williamson looked desperate at times against Fulham. He was lucky not to give away 2 penalties.

Hope he doesn’t do anything silly because our central defenders are as thin on the ground as our forwards … and our right wing … and left back …

Would love to see someone like Ewerthon come in on a free, but we all know how unlikely that is.

If we’re gonna get 3 points tomorrow, who is going to score our goal? Defence and midfield will really have to work their socks off and have great games.

Maybe Coloccini will pop up with another goal? Or the Bull 😀

Lets get one thing straight. You have a centre forward who is progressing very well. he is not the scourge of Europe, he has one England cap. Some muppets come along and say, here is a bucket full of cash, we will have this centre forward (A british record fee). We would have been insane to turn this money down.
It is how we move forward and progress THE TEAM, which counts, in other words lets see how this cash (if any) is spent. Its pointless boycotting games tec at this stage, becuase we might bring in several good players in the summer. Short memory time?? remember when Andy Cole was sold, and Keegan said ‘you just have to trust me’,? Well he made us even better. Lets just get the 10 points we need for this seasons target to be hit, and then just trust that we have even bigger fish to fry that Andy Carroll.
I am sure that if we have a striker battering defences down next season, we will be saying ‘Andy who?’.
The king is dead, long live the king. Shout yer heads off for the Toon, ten more points.

    Well said Lynxie.

I forgot about JC being at the club actually. Kind of surprised me that AC wanted to leave while working on somebody he waxed lyrical about when he was appointed. The many faces of Andy Carroll, eh?

Now. Can we kindly shut the f up about Andy “Judas” Carroll and get on with the season?

Mug, fan – what’s the difference?

You all happily bounded to the NUFC shops when FFS was caught out by the media calling Newcastle fans idiots for the amount of money we spunk into the club stores. Let’s not forget that Shepherd also took a salary from the club.

Oh how short your memories must be.

    Yorkshire stop shouting,

How fickle can people be. Last week everyone was saying Ashley never sold anyone who didn’t want to be here. You can’t have it both ways.
I’m glad we didn’t give in to Carroll’s wage demands and rock the boat with other players.

Ashley has a wage ceiling which we have needed for years and years, after the excesses of owen, luque, Boumsong etc’s astronomical wages. People like Colo are still on 90K a week, = 4.5M a year in wages alone gone on one player.

Everyone was happy with Tiote, Ben Arfa etc. We’ve sold one player for a stupid amount of money because Liverpool were desperate. How long before Carroll gets injured again due to his lifestyle and how long before he gets in bother again. You would have to be a grade A moron to turn down 36M.

We got cauught without replacements because there was no time and no one ever thought they would get an offer that big. We had a 17M offer for Bendtner rejected !!

Oh and to add to my earlier point to yorkshire toon: back then we could rely on FFS (mis)management – now the club will soon rely on us, the fans, to keep the club afloat.

Yorkshire T – The point of this blog is to be more upbeat. OK ideally we would still have had Carroll, Ben Arfa wouldn’t have broken his leg etc etc but life can be a bitch sometimes and you’ve got to get on with it. Whining about it gets tedious in the extreme and as has been said – we haven’t had Carroll for a while and he wouldn’t be available for some time yet. We are no worse off than we were a week ago (except for losing Ameobi to injury which was regretful but unforeseeable) so the lads knew they have to cope as they are and the last thing they should do is feel sorry for themselves. Come on pal get behind the players and your team whoever they are.

What a pile of steaming crap
The distressing plunge in morale is palpable, even from watching on TV.
And no effort made to strengthen says it all.
Now pardew going to the bargain basement, seeing as Best is like perch, a waste of a shirt, Ranger is NOT showing any promise, and Loven isn’t the answer either (but I feel he WILL score today) the ONE improving, potential quality player has been sold, and Ashley and Pardew have presented Newcastle as nothing better than a whore, giving what she’s got at a price.

Alex84, and if the club wanted him to stay they would have MADE him stay!!
Or alternatively….perish the thought, they may have sold him at 100% profit AFTER they brought in a cover player!!

You see, it is actually people like you who do not listen or think about what has been said by both parties….Carroll reckons he was pushed, I dont doubt for one minute he was, but i am also not stupid enough to believe he didnt ask for the same contract L/Pool offered!! Which i would have also……..

The other thing which does not sit well with me is Pardew & Lambiarse, our voice of the people manager, stated that Carroll had said Liverpool had offered him 80k a week and he wanted to go, OK……but what is not right about this is this was after The brill Mike Ashley, toon saviour had rejected 30 & 35m bids repsectively…….mmmm so bids were rejjected and liverpool were NOT therfore given permission to talk to AC??? Correct??

So in essence ??? Liverpool Tapped Carroll up then?? Yes / NO??

Compen compen compen…..unless they were Lying perish the thought again!!

    Use your noggin man!!

Lynxie mate, we can’t bring in SEVERAL players. Think about it – 1top striker minimum £15m, £50,000 a week wages on 4 year deal is another £10m, plus VAT @20% is another £3m. Total £28m. Remember Pardew admitted £35m has to cover transfer fees plus wages. So after bringing in top striker we’re left with £7m. That won’t even cover one more player on £40,000 a week for 4 years, even if he was on a free transfer. The FCB has us done up like a kipper. Don’t give him any season ticket money, and see what happens in the summer. Remember, players have to want to come here, and there aren’t too many of them about. Puncheon went to Blackpool ahead of us after Soton agreed a fee with both clubs. That should tell you a few things – Blackpool offering more wages than us!

Rotunda mate, you have your opinion, and its one I couldn’t disagree more with
But trading pathetic insults with someone doesn’t show your view as any better than THEIRS.
We as supporters are in disarray, in dispute with each other, snapping at each other, insulting each other
BECAUSE OF THE GROSS STUPIDITY OF THE WHOLE CARROLL/ASHLEY/PARDEW MESS.
We are perhaps the thinnest, weakest squad in the Prem, due to Ashley/Pardew. No signings made apart from injured Ireland, yet sold our No.1 striker.
How the hell is that good for the sodding club ?

@30 well said jimmymagpie, I was talking about that the other day too. People who think the £35million will go a long way on a player+wages are clearly not listening properly – it will only get us a couple of average players under the wage ceiling.

The wage ceiling will not attract a top striker when they could get more than £50,000 a week somewhere else. The cost of such a top striker plus their wages over 4 or 5 years would take up most if not all that £35million.

This talk about moving on and getting behind the team – well intentioned and perhaps the only way forward – but also comfirms we geordies have short memories and are not able to engage in long term action like Liverpool fans did to change the fortunes of the club, we forgive and forget too quickly perhaps?
