We haven’t said too much about Nile Ranger’s contribution to the fantastic comeback yesterday – but Newcastle scored 3 of their goals when Nile was on the field in those last 17 minutes.
Nile Ranger – in action against Arsenal
And this lad was winning everything in the air, and again on a couple of occasions, may have had his first PL goal, with just a little bit of luck – but this lad is starting to look the part in a black and white shirt.
He’s almost two and a half years younger than Andy Carroll, and is probably a better player then Carroll was at the same age.
And yes, the London lad still has a lot to learn, we all know that, but the 19 year-old has so much speed and natural ability he’s just frightening.
And as we said yesterday he scared the living daylights out of the Arsenal soft center defense yesterday.
No wonder he is back in the England Youth setup, having been included in the England U20 side to play on Wednesday night.
Leon Best also played his part yesterday, and should have had two goals after one was disallowed for offside but wasn’t, and he may yet have a career at Newcastle.
The 24 year-old former Coventry striker is now out injured with a hamstring injury and we wonder if Alan Pardew will withdraw Nile from the England game on Wednesday night.
Newcastle presumably only have Peter Lovenkrands and Nile Ranger fit for next Saturday at Blackburn.
Anyway, we wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge the part Nile did for the team yesterday – he was tremendous.
And Nile needs to continue listening closely to Alan and the coaches to improve parts of his game as he matures – just like Andy did.
Nile now has 48 appearances for Newcastle with 3 goals, and that’s an area he needs to improve, just like Andy was told by Chris Hughton a short 12 months ago.
And finally the unbelievable Newcastle fans, who again filled St. James’ Park to its capacity yesterday, showed just why they are the best in the business.
They carried their team in that second half, and inspired them to do the impossible – you could even feel the atmosphere watching the TV!
Remember – anything is possible – especially with Newcastle – but first you have to believe it. 😀

Comment #41if we win our game in hand we will be only 3 points behind the mackems and we already have better goal difference, i really hope we can finish above those pulse drinking burglar boys as that is all they have on us at the moment.

Comment #43I’ve noticed a lot of comments from folk regarding the new rules of spending within income generated. Thing is, most millionaire owners have several companies and they will ‘sponser’ the clubs for silly money to get around the rules ie pay for shirt sponsership at 5 times the current rate. This would geneate ‘higher’ income and allow clubs to continue paying over the odds for players. The only clubs that are going to be adversly affected will be the small clubs without millionairs backing.
I doubt the chelskis and mancs are in the least bit worried.

Comment #44A lot of people seem to be saying Ranger can’t reproduce that form over 90 minutes. How the hell would you know? How many games have you seen him start? He played 75 minutes against Fulham and didn’t look great but noone would have with the appalling lack of service and support the strikers got at Craven Cottage. When the team plays well, Nile tends to play well. When he started against Leicester last season he got man of the match so noone can say he’s useless over 90 minutes when he’s yet to start a Premier League game. Give him a chance, he’s better than Lovenpants.

i agree with some of what your saying. As for him not getting the service, yes we played shite against fulham but barton did play him a few good balls, which normally Nile would make something out of, but Hangeland had him marked well and was winning all the long balls. i concur with you on the fact he should be given a chance though, he’s much better than Lovenkrands and if him and best can learn play well together instead of playing like they dont know each other, we may have s steady strikeforce to keep us going until the end of the season, then we can bring in some stronger talent.

Despite all being a little creaky in the knee. Milan look stuffed, half the team are out of contract!!

Comment #51Huge fan of Ranger. The kids far from a PL first choice striker and his attitude of field is poor from unfounded reports.
But going off the 18yr olds pure talent, he’s exciting, very exciting! I honestly believe he needs that one goal and he’ll explode!
Due to way this club handled the transfer window he’ll never get a better chance to stake his claim as the clubs top striker!

Comment #53Sign Ewerthon up. Give him a shot. We need bodies at the striker position. From some of those videos, he’s obviously not lacking a nose for goal. If he still has some of that form, get him.
Plus, the guy’s goal celebrations and dances are classic 😉

Comment #54Jonas and Simpson were excellent yesterday 🙂
That`s the best they have played in the Black and Whites.
Collo and our midfield were also excellent after 30 mins
RESPECT
We do maybe need another good centre half with Willo not really up to speed

Comment #55To be honest, Andy Carroll looked pretty ropey against Fulham in the home game this season, so younguns have their off days.
The difference is in the mind. Carroll OK lacks the technical abilities on the deck of ranger, but has ice cold blood as a finisher. Never seen him choke. Ranger is guilty of ball watching and fluffing chances, surely that can be worked on by the coaches.

Comment #56Sorry but do not agree about Best. He waspoor yesterday and his goal was lucky because if he had headed it right in the first place it would not have dropped tto him. He put the disallowed one away OK but ran offside too many times in the first half, has no pace and reminds me of so many second class strikers we had in the 70’s and 80’s. Ranger is raw and has potential without doubt. We have had young uns with potential befoer so it is up to the coaching staff to bring the kid on at the right pace and not expect too much of him. We cannot expect too much too soon.
My nephew (16 yrs old) left at half time. I have just found that out this morning and give him a good B******ING. It was the most incredible match I can remember being at since first visit to SJP in 1967. Up there with Manure 5-0 and Barca 3-2Fairs Cup final first leg and Forest when the pitch invasion took place in 1974. “3-1 down 4-3 up now we;re gonna win the cup”. Sadly it did’nt happen

Comment #60Ranger has been pulled from England U-20s as he is our main man now against Brum unless Best recovers.
If he’s really good between now and May, can we expect Cashely to cash in again, or does the massive 35 million on Andy mean thst ‘No’ will mean ‘No’ regarding approaches for Tiote, Barton, Ranger and Enrique? Or is it all about profits at the end of the day.
If Cashley is still desperate for more dosh from human trafficking during the summer can I suggest he sell organs? – first Larry the LLambias’ sweetbreads and then his own. with a nice Chianti and some falva beans …fffuusssuusssssuuussssschlurp!

Comment #61go sign Ewerthon, he is the best amongst all the free transfer list. plus he got experience. He can do the job before we buy a decent forward during summer.
plus he is release january 2011, so he still fit enough unlike some of the free transfer players (kuqi and nonda) been unemployed since Jan 2010

Comment #62No means no but if anyone offers 35 mill they can take their pick. I’d be more interested in why all these big teams have such crap scouting networks. They only seem to buy off the guy next door

Comment #63When are one of the so called big 4 gonna try and buy him off us then?
I for one am starting to get really bitter about the likes of Cheski, Liverpool, ManU, Man city and Tottenham all throwing their millions around and buying all the best players in the league. As soon as we start getting half a decent team, we seem to sell our best players and have to start again!
Ashley appears only to be interested in cashing in on his play-thing!
Its not going to happen but it would be good business if new long term contracts are signed for all of our talent now. If this don,t happen, then we,ll be for the drop again next year!
So simple is it!
