Brazilian Ewerthon Keen On Move To Newcastle

Two free agents who Newcastle are looking to bring to Tyneside in the very near future, are Frenchman Jeremie Aliediere and Brazilian Ewerthon.

Brazilian Ewerthon – interested in joining famous Newcastle club?

With Carroll gone, and Ameobi out for a couple of months with a broken cheekbone, and now Leon Best sustaining a hamstring strain on Saturday, Newcastle have only two fit strikers – Peter Lovenkrands and 19 year-old Nile Ranger.

Ewerthon, who is 29 years old and was born in Sao Paulo, left Palmeiras by mutual agreement  last month, and he is therefore available for Newcastle to sign to a contract, probably until the end of the season.

His agent Barry McIntosh admitted that talks with a number of clubs were going on right now:

“A number of clubs like Ewerton, he is a free agent and is looking to seal his next move,” ”It is no secret that a number of Premier League clubs are keen on him.”

“I am not going to go into details about who we are talking with, but if you’re asking me about whether he would move to Newcastle? “

“Then yes, obviously they are a caliber of club he would very much consider playing for.”

Ewerhton, who stands just under 5’8″ tall, played 21 times for Palmeiras this season, and scored 7 goals and one advantage he will have over Aliediere is that he should still be both physically fit and match fit.

If Newcastle really want this player then they will have to offer him a really good deal to see off  the other interested clubs, because Newcastle need at least one new striker at the club – as soon as possible – and preferably in time to be in the squad for the game on Saturday at Blackburn.

If he’s not carrying an injury, bring him in. It wont do no harm, we can only gain.

If he doesn’t have an EU passport, he won’t a get a work permit, because he hasn’t played the requisite number of games for Brazil.

Good news Stuart. I hope Ranger has been withdrawn from under 20 team as a precaution. Taylor saying he won’t be fit for another 2/3 weeks, which is concerning the way Williamson has played recently.

This is what we are reduced to?
    – signing a freebie striker with a name like a sheep-sh***ers endurance contest!

I wonder is he related to Llamby arse?

What do you suggest Sav, sign nobody and hope none of our 3 strikers get injured the rest of the season?

He’s an absolute risk ! On the plus side he’s played at the highest level and on his day grace the PL, however no one should be fooled in thinking he’s a world beater other wise he wouldn’t be looking for a club outside the window.
So a risk defiently, but one we need to take, because the alternative is go with what we’ve got and that’s an even bigger risk to me’

No work permit problems so sign him up! Give him James Perch’s wages

He ha a very impressive goal scoring ratio in Germany and Spain….

    001–2005 Borussia Dortmund 119 (47)
    2005–2010 Zaragoza 111 (48)

Just over 1 in 2 in those leagues. Certainly seems more of a prospect than Aliadiere.

Nah, Stuart (9), of course not, but I can’t get past the fact that its a far cry from the way Liverpool handled a hostile bid for THEIR star striker, so i’m just having another dig at Cashley and Co.

One thing strikes me is why an approach was not made to Chelski along the lines of -” if you want to get this deal done and we don’t want to spend the rest of the season without a front man given that there are only hours to replace Carroll, loan us one of yours (perhaps Malouda or one of their top youngsters?), we’ll sell Carroll to ‘pool and you get Torres.”
    Seemples.

Was signed for Toulouse for £6.5mil in August 2010. Scored 21 goals in 32 league games and 5 in other comps. Runner up as signing of the season, top goalscorer and league team of the season.

Great signing on football manager haha. #

Lets get him, hes free and has decent pedigree, good stop gap signing.

Not really football tactics, just common sense to makeit a triangular deal. i think Sturridge was already loaned by the time we accepted Liverpool’s bid but I’m sure Chelski must have a couple of Van Aanholts in the striker positions playing in the reserves who’d have helped us through to May and been glad of the experience.

What’s done is done. All we can do now is look into free agents and ewerthon looks decent plus he may well have a point to prove.
He could be a diamond in a Toon strip. I would be happy to cheer him on at sjp

I’d get them both in till the end of the season but to be perfectly honest with you I’m starting to feel like maybe we don’t need another Striker as badly as I originally thought. We play the rest of the season 4-5-1, get Ranger to learn how to reciprocate his sub performances in a full 90, and have Ireland and Nolan rotate playing that Attacking Mid position and we’ll be in good shape!

Check out this vid it’s hilarious!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8zruGUQZko

New to posting comments, but read these blogs every day, agree that we might as well take Ewerthon for the rest of the season, but like Sav comments, we were in the driving seat with the Carroll transfer (just like the given transfer to man city) the inexperience of Ashley and Lambias in running a football club was highlighted once again by not negotiating to bring someone else in.

As a side note, according to the Mirror, Andy Carroll is going to be out for the rest of the season……..his injury and the way the deal was done seems to have more a more of a striking resemblance to the Woodgate transfer every day!
