It’s Official – Newcastle Announce Kugi Loan Deal

Alan Pardew has bolstered his attacking options at Newcastle, with the signing of free agent Shefki Kuqi, and the Newcastle club have now officially announced the deal on their web-site.

Shefki Kuqi – honest hard working striker

Alan Pardew talked about the signing of the 6’2″ Finn, and this is what Alan said today:

“We needed another option up-front, because we’re a little light there due to the temporary loss of Shola, and Shefki will provide us with something different.”

“He’s match fit and knows the English game well having been in the country for the best part of ten years. He is ready straight away and that’s what we wanted.”

“Shefki is a good, honest pro who will give us a strong physical presence from the bench.”

Newcastle are short of strikers as the club surprisingly lost local lad Andy Carroll to Liverpool, on the very last day of the January transfer window, and Shola Ameobi is also out with a broken cheekbone for maybe up to two months, although club officials are hoping it will be a lot less than that.

The Finnish International has played 62 times for Finland with 7 goals, and has played 512 first class club games with 147 goals for 14 different clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday, Crystal Palace, Blackburn, Ipswich, Fulham and Swansea.

Ed, why do you keep calling it a loan deal. We have signed him on a free. He wasn’t on the books of another club, so who did we loan him off. Free transfer, free, free, free!

If anything we’re now weaker in that department. Shocking signing.

Are we still in talks with Ewerthon? he looks a good finisher, and a real ‘fox in the box’ type who we really need. He would be a useful addition, and on a free too!

I understand we are short on bodies, but Shefki Kuqi is embarrassing, hopefully he will just be on the bench and only used as a sub sometimes…

    Robson Wonderland @ 5:

Sibierski was a nightmare signing too. (NOT), so lets just give him a chance in a black and white shirt. He will know that this is the biggest club he has ever played for, and may put the ball in the net a handful of times (thats all he needs to do, finish.)
Not my idea of a good signing, but he is helping us out, and putting himself in the shop window at the best club he will ever play for. You just never know. We put up with Shola don’t we?

I hate the signing but if we won against Blackburn 1-0 and he scores it will be well worth it 3 more points towered safety

Can’t help thinking a word to match his name for a song. Any ideas?

An extra body, I suppose. I assume Ewerthon wanted more than we’re prepared to pay. Fair enough.

You are obviously assuming that this guy is gonna be worthy of a song?
How about the one we used in the 70’s for Paul Cannell, but exchange Paul Cannell for Shefki Kuqi……….? (one for the older readers that one ha ha ha )

Just give him a chance! There doesn’t seem to be that many other options who want to come? End of the day he’s going to get some great service probably best of his career! Let’s just get behind him and see what he can do!

It is another embarrassing master stroke from the management at NUFC.

Cue more jokes from friends who support other teams, its embarrassing, simple as. There was Vela, Sturridge, Keane all available in the window, before Andy left we needed one and we got noone. This is a joke.

We Just Need to Support the Team Boys and Keep ourselves in The Premier league. There are Players Coming Back to Fitness in defence and midfield so as Alan Pardew says this guy is just until the end of the season. We have 4 Strikers Now and also Kevin Nolan Who Can Play as a striker if required . Lets See what The Lad can do for us ??????? I remember when we got Alan Clarke from Sunderland( thank god we didn’t have this blog then )- What did he do ??? He scored for us and he became our Hero so it could be worse at least he didn’t play for Them Lot !!! Give him His Chance!!!!

“Shefki is a good, honest pro who will give us a strong physical presence from the bench.”

Best & Ranger will lead and Kuqi will be called on if and when required. He was free! Bodies.

Plus there’s time yet to bring in another face.

    Why not Lynxie?
If he scoreas a goal-two till the end of the season (entering as a substitute of course) in which we gain few points, I think it will be worthy.
And I do not know the song about Paul Cannell, I’m only 32.

what the hell are the other players going to think of him in training, this reminds me of mike basset picking benson and hedges for england.the whole football world is laughing at us.we have enough fit strikers at the moment, plus nolan and a lot of players coming back.maybe the opposition defenders will be rolling around the floor laughing, thus giving him the time and space to score, although i have just seen his open goal howler on youtube.

Oh no,it’s true,he’s signed. All those people saying give him a chance obviously haven’t seen him play much, the guy had no pace 10yrs ago.We might aswell have given one of the stewards a run out.He reeminds me of one of those players out of the football games years ago when you had to push the head down to make him kick,if i remember correctly the plastic players were quicker with more movement and a better first touch. Not good enough to set foot in the city never mind wear the shirt

Welcome to NUFC. Has a lot of nicknames this guy… Flying Finn, The Sheriff, Kosovar Ox and um, dead leg. Hope you’ll never start a game… but if you’re called upon late in the game, show us why you’re called those names.
