Newcastle Are Unchanged – Kuqi On Bench

As expected, Newcastle United are unchanged from the side that got the amazing 4-4 draw last Saturday against Arsenal.

And new signing, Shefki Kuqi,  is on the bench and may make his debut in the second half of this afternoon’s game.

Kuqi of course, spent a year earlier in his career at Ewood Park, and replaces 19 year-old Michael Richardson on the bench.

There had been injury doubts about Leon Best and Nile Ranger, but Leon starts alongside Peter Lovenkrands up front, and no doubt Nile Ranger, and maybe even Kuqi will get a  a run-out in the second half depending on how the game goes.

Newcastle will need to get off to a good start this afternoon, and put in some solid defending, and if we can somehow get some goals, we could see all 3 points this afternoon, with our first win since January 5th.

That’s what we are hoping for, but we expect a tough game.

Blackburn: Robinson, Salgado, Samba (c), Nelsen, Olsson, Hoilett, Jones, Nzonzi, Dunn, Kalinic, Santa Cruz.
Subs: Bunn (GK), Emerton, Grella, Pedersen, Benjani, Roberts, Hanley

Newcastle: Harper; Simpson, Williamson,Coloccini, Enrique; Barton, Tiote, Nolan (c), Gutierrez; Best,  Lovenkrands
Subs:  Krul, Perch, Campbell,  Guthrie, Ferguson,  Kuqi, Ranger

2-1 NUFC Goals by Nolan and 40 mins and Ranger 82 min (off Baton cross or Nolan deflection in the Box…)

Don’t like the early pairing up front see my post on the early Match Preview Blog.

Would have liked to see a 4-5-1 played like a 4-4-1-1 with Best alone up front and either Nolan or Tiote drifting up (Guthrie thrown in as the additional starting midfielder with Barton & Guti)…

Oh well Pards gone with his familiar 4-4-2 & now its all up to the lads… Lover & Best have a lot to prove today and the midfield and Collo & the Bull on defence will all need to have good days today to pull out all three points!

    HWTL!!!

Ed, love the blog as always, but seriously you’ve got a mental block with the Kuqi signing. It’s NOT a LOAN! It’s a short term contract on a free.

Anyway, keep up the goood work!

    3-1 to the lads

keep that momentum going, don’t let up!

I will say, in the first 47 seconds against Arse, we were going all out, we just forgot about defending. let’s shore up that defence, close down quick and this should be a good victory!

I see Joe Cole may be a target for us – with just a little bit of thought we could of said 35m and a player, how about including Cole – that’s the depth of our management planning!

today, 1-1 Best to score HWTL

You keep saying Kuqi is on loan Edd, he’s not, he’s our player, signed on a short term deal, not a loan.
