Are Newcastle Really Interested In Liverpool Star?

There are reports in today’s Sunday papers, that England forward Joe Cole may end up on Tyneside this summer.

Joe Cole – in action for England

Joe has had a really bad time of it at Liverpool this season, whom he joined from Chelsea on a free transfer last summer.

But of course Liverpool have also had a bad time of it until recently, and when Joe returns from injury,  he may be able to settle down a bit on Merseyside.

We’re not sure why Newcastle have been mentioned as a club Joe may join this summer, other then we have that £35M from the Andy Carroll transfer, and probably half of that will go on transfers this summer, and it seems that Cole could be available for around £5M this summer.

But at 29, Joe doesn’t really fit the profile of players coming to Newcastle, at least those that we have to pay for, so we’re not sure there’s much truth in this story at all, and it is a Sunday.

The other thing with Joe is he’s on ridiculous wages at Liverpool, since he was able to make his own deal with becoming  a free agent, and we think a London club would be a safer bet, if  indeed he leaves Liverpool.

Joe may be a good deal for Newcastle, but the questions would be his wages and the transfer fee Liverpool would want for a 29 year-old, but of course Joe is a good player, and he  always gives his all,  and could be popular on Tyneside, and certainly has stacks of experience.

Joe started his career at West Ham, and made his debut there at 16, and he played 150 times for the Hammers with 13 goals before joining Chelsea in 2003, where he played 278 times with 40 goals.

Joe has appeared 19 times at Liverpool so far, with a couple of goals,  and has played 56 times for England with 10 goals.

What do you think about Joe maybe moving to Newcastle?

No No No! we’ll not be signing anyone over 28 unless on a free.

Have to be our top targets as all available on a free. Just whether we can persuade them to come as usual.

    Gervinho or equivalent
    Ireland (if back to form)
Samba (really bossed us yesterday and would be a good replacement for Campbell but prob get 1st team footy)

Then with Arfa (who can played 2nd striker) and Gosling back and fit we should have a very good team with good depth, options and cover!

Of course, this being newcastle we’ll prob sign completely different players but hey it’s fun speculating!

Decent player, when fit. Another injury-magnet though. Unfortunately we’re gona be linked with every player’s mam and her cat between now and the Summer. I can’t be arsed.

    Apparently we’re after Bob Geldof.

6 games and 1 goal from our strikers!!
    Shocking fact!!
Hopefully,Pardew is gonna start Ranger for next match!
Did Best even had a shot on target??This guy is a complete joke,no wonder Jose was fuming yesterday!

Best is not a premier league striker!
Lovenkrands and kuqi are players way past their best!
    Ranger lacks experience!

Cant see how we’re going to score in every game?
Hopefully,Ben is going to make a quick recovery and we could use him as a striker for the rest of the season.

What do you mean, ‘and probably half of that will go on transfers this summer’.?
    Don’t start that already, Ed.
If you do, you can chuck in Carroll’s wages already saved on top of the 35million and then we can argue the toss about the money we were to spend in January but didn’t and then there’s the Sky money for a decent (we hope) premiership position plus sponsorship deals, season tickets and so on.
We cab leave Milner/Martins/Duff money to debate after that.
We expect the Carroll money to buy players. We have a right to expect it for the 50+ ooo who turn up every home game and no BS!

chamberlain going to Arsenal, and I think we want to buy a prospect for cover for Enrique (although I fear he may be on his way in the summer) Shorey is too old.

New contracts for Barton and Tiote but come the summer Enrique will only have just over a year of his contract left. This means he will try to play hard ball on his wages……and the club won’t stand for that and he will be sold probably for around 6-8m (he of course is with more than that but with his contract running down his price runs down too). I suspect the club will try to get him to sign before the summer but unlike Joey I think he is stalling.

cover/replcemnt 4 Jose shd be Nigerian Taye Taiwo from Marseille,25 yrs old,6ft,very strong with a thundering left-foot shot, free agent, turned down contract as he wants move to EPL.This guy is good,he’s been Marseille’s 1st choice LB for over 3 seasons, partly why Heinze was moved to CB. Also on yesterday’s game,Best shldnt b blamed too much, few strikers win anything in the air against Samba and Ryan Nelsen and we kept on swinging high crosses into the box (sumptuous deliveries BTW) bt even AC wld struggle against Samba/Nelsen. Enrique man of the match for me

he didnt sign a new deal at chelsea as they offered him too little, he didnt go to tottenham as they affered him too little, what do the gossip press think we will pay him. do they just wake up in the morning and think, lets just link this guy with that club and that should sell a few papers.

how do you get that job, it sounds well easy.

Ashley won’t spend a penny so I don’t believe any transfer stories. Clever move to get season ticket renewals in before end of season though so fans will commit so he does not have to!

Cole was a decent enough player back in his prime but he’s worse than useless now.
I wouldn’t pay a fiver for the fat useless get, he’s too old and has lost pace, couple that with the fact he’s very injury prone.
Ed stop watching American football and concentrate on ‘soccer’ – Chelsea sold cole because he’s ready for the knackers yard, Liverpool realised it after they had spent their cash and now want to offload his 100k a week of the wage bill

A big no to me. Too injury prone and very rarely has Joe Cole play to his “potential”. Considering our wage structure, doubt he would ever consdier joining us too.
