Ryan Taylor Roars Back With Great Game For Reserves

It’s not only good news that Newcastle have taken 5 points off three difficult games against Arsenal at home, and Blackburn and Birmingham away, but we’ve done that with lots of players out injured.

Ryan Taylor – terrific performance last night in Reserves win

One player who has returned to training and had his first game last night is Liverpudlian Ryan Taylor.

Ryan played the whole game in the 2-0 win against Bedlington Terriers at Whitley Park, in the Northumberland Senior Cup, and according to Reserve team manager Peter Beardsley,  Ryan  was simply outstanding in both his play and his attitude.

That was Ryan’s first game in three months, after sustaining a broken ankle, and of course we all know that Ryan just wants to play.

And we think he could well get lots of playing time under Alan Pardew through the end of the season, although competition for places will soon become fierce.

Ryan’s set pieces caused problems for Bedlington throughout the game last night, and Ryan even came close to scoring on a few occasions, and was the stand-out player in the game.

This is what Peter said about Ryan, after the good win last night:

“I thought he was outstanding. He keeps it so simple, everything he does is the right thing at the right time, and his attitude is sensational.”

“I asked him towards the end if he wanted a rest and he just wanted to keep going and keep going and keep going. If it had been 120 minutes, he’d have kept going.”

“He’s that sort of character. Before he came to Newcastle, I knew he had ability but I absolutely love the kid. He’s a pleasure to work with.”

Well those are good words from Peter, and obviosuly Alan Pardew will be keen to see Ryan in training over the next 10 days or so, but he will be on the bench against Bolton, that’s for sure.

Ryan is just one player who will now be available a week come Saturday for the  Bolton game, with other returning players  being Steven Taylor, Stephen Ireland and Shola Ameobi.

But we have to think that Alan Pardew will keep faith in the 11 who have started the last 3 games and garnered 5 points with three excellent displays – if we forget that first half against Arsenal. 😀

Comments welcome –  but please be civil to other readers with different opinions – thanks.
