Summer Transfer Market So Vital For Newcastle

It’s something that starting to concern us just a little, when we are linked with ordinary players like Carlton Cole.

The top two running the Newcastle team

And that is who exactly will Alan Pardew and the scouting and coaching staff go after in the summer, and by early September what will the squad look like at the Newcastle club?

We have to hope it will still contain Jose Enrique and Cheick Tiote, but then we’d like to see at least four new top players in the squad.

Newcastle will now be out in full force on the scouting front, and then Alan Pardew will have to build his list of the players he wants the club to bring in over the summer.

And then it’s the job of Derek Llambias, and other in the Newcastle hierarchy to do just that.

We have no idea what the real list of players Newcastle are after but it seems that Alan wants to do a thorough job right now, before he starts to go after players in the summer.

Alan  told the Sunday Sun today:

“You can trust me to rebuild this club”. “We have a big responsibility this summer, but I have really good confidence in my transfer record,”

“This summer is going to be very, very important for this club – and it will be important for me, Graham Carr, John Carver, Peter Beardsley and the rest of the staff as well.”

“It is so important that we bring in players that are the right fit for Newcastle United because we want to go on and have a better season next year and aim even higher.”

“I’m confident that we can do that because my transfer record has been strong.”  “Look at my time at West Ham and the players I bought in – I like to think I did well on that side at Crystal Palace and Reading too.”

We hope the £35M fee we got for Andy will be used in transfer fees and wages for new players, so maybe we can see around £20M spent on transfer fees, and we also expect some free agents to be brought into Newcastle in the summer too.

Free agents like Seb Larsson and Johan Elmander would be good acquisitions for Newcastle, and we are said to be interested in players like Connor Whickham, Gervinho, Stephen Ireland and Niko Krancjar, but whether we can attract these players to Tyneside, is still an open question.

And one last word to Alan Pardew – please don’t bring in Carlton Cole – please! 😀

Most pointless, sh!t stirring article ever. I’m right in saying you wrote for NOTW over the summer? Sheeeesh… you learnt something from them.

Ed, you’ve got to put a lid on sensationalist stuff like this. Look at the headline… so obvious it doesn’t need to be said, but so far down the line…

And before people say “Don’t read his blog then.” I’m sorry, but with nearly 30million views, you’ve got your own responsibility as a blogger. Don’t throw out unsubstantiated, boat-rocking, knee-jerk, non-stories such as this.

Heed your own advice, and just support the lads in the NOW. Worrying about Summer is low in the priorities at the moment. Bolton then Everton is what we should be focusing our collective and positive efforts on. Not who may or may not come through the door.

    Cole is just paper talk.

Ashley wouldn’t let Pards buy Cole if he wanted to because there is no potential profit in it.

He is running it as a business, expect young French/African players (who have EU passports) arriving and Jonas, Jose and Joey to leave.

Joey wants 5 years (from now) and the club want to give him 3 years from now, he’ll go for 3m as he only has 1 year left, Jose will have one year left and we’ll sell for 6-8m and Jonas will go to for 10m (not because he’s better than the other 2 but because of the length of his contract).

20 million from the sale of AC, but surely there will ‘be’ more from the fat man and from the PL itself!
Hopefully we can have up to 25 – 30 million to spend including 20 from the sale of players.
Free transfers like; larsson and elmander would be

pardew and west ham have history plus all mid table clubs will have scouts at the relegation threatened clubs matches looking for bargains, so i am sure that this cole link is a load of crap imo.

surely majority of 35 would be on transfers and the interest will be spent on players wages

Would love to see Gervinho, Samba, Taarabt and Pavlyuchenko in the summer and a couple of free transfers like Elmander and Larrson. I think that would be a great summer transfer market 😀

‘players plus wages’ – that phrase irritates the hell out of me. I want to see £35m on transfer fees minimum! To save on wages, get rid of Smith, Raylor, Loven, Sol, Perch, Xisco and maybe Guthrie, we’ve already shed £30k p/w off AC and when Joey signs a further £15k p/w. We aren’t stupid!!

NUFC-83 I hope you’re right about Barton, but if the report in the Screws of the World is right he wants a 5 year deal that would mean he would be 33 when it runs out. Even with his drop in wages I can’t see the club sanctioning it because it doesn’t make financle sense. 5 year deals for youngsters yes but not 28 year olds.

I hope Joey takes the two year extended offer, giving him another 3 years at the club.

“5year deals for youngsters but not for 28 year olds” if you were talking about wingers i would agree , but mid fielders ? joey would give us his best years between 28_33 , you dont need pace , just good old experiance, and who better than joey, who could also be on the brink of a england call up so we sell him who do we buy ?and for how much? makes sense to keep him for as long as possible, look at scholes, 35 36? but ash will sell , he wants the money

What do people think about the goalkeeper situation …do we get fraser forster back and loan tim krul out , or do we sell fraser as im pretty sure neil lennon will be making an offer as hes now thier nailed on first choice , i know tim krul is a decent keeper , but ideally id like to think wed give preference to the local boys if the players in question are equally talented ….local pride means a lot..

coolcatcarter is right about the wages business. There’s been savings on Carroll’s wages, other previous sales not reinvested, Sky and Premiership money – even more for a decent league finish.
As for the wages on new deals – you mean for the lifetime of the new signings, just for year 1 or what? Its meaningless shite. 35 million for transfers minimum – and no more BS.
