As expected, Newcastle will field the same starting line-up for the fourth consecutive game today, as they welcome an in-form Bolton Wanderers to St. James’ Park.
Alan Pardew stays with the side that has performed so well since amazingly coming back from a 4-0 deficit against Arsenal after 26 minutes, in Newcastle’s last home game.
Both Ryan Taylor and Steven Taylor return to the bench from their respective injuries, which is some good news, but Shola Ameobi is still getting used to wearing his new protective face mask, and is not included in the squad.
Danny Guthrie is also not included, as he has sustained a slight injury, but should be back next week, when the lads entertain Everton.
The fast improving Nile Ranger and new signing Shefki Kuqi are on the bench, and both could see some action, depending on how the games goes this afternoon.
Newcastle are just one point behind Bolton in the league, and have a score to settle – a 5-1 hammering at the Reebok last November, in what could be Newcastle’s worst performance of the season, and certainly was our biggest defeat.
And a win this afternoon could well see Newcastle in 7th place in the league table by tonight, which would be just great.
For Bolton, on-loan striker Sturridge from Chelsea starts up front and could be their danger man, and former Middlesbrough center-back David Wheater also starts for the Trotters.
Howay The lads!!
