Today’s Game Against Bolton So Vital For Newcastle

Pardew  thinks Newcastle’s next two games at home against Bolton and Everton are vital.

Stephen Ireland – should be ready for game at Stoke

Both Shola Ameobi and Stephen Ireland will not be in the squad today, but they will be back for definite after the Everton game next Saturday (Shola could even make it next week), and there are still 9 games left in the season, starting with Stoke City away on 19th March – which is 3 weeks today.

Alan talked about the importance of today’s home game with Bolton, and the Lancashire club are just one point above Newcastle in the league in 8th position:

“If we get a win then suddenly we’ll have momentum and we’ll have those two coming back into the squad so it’s a big game,” “This is a crucial game. When you look at the home games we’ve got left, our home games look better than they have.”

“We’ve had some really tough home games but there’s a chance to win some of those. We’ve got Manchester United in there but the rest we’d like to think we’ve got a good chance in, so this is a key game.”

“If we can jump above Bolton suddenly we can look at those games and really look to push on, but if we lose it knocks us back. Momentum is the big thing for me.”

“The pleasing thing  is that at spells this season we’ve lost Cheick and we did okay, we lost Shola and did okay, we’ve obviously lost Andy Carroll and we’re still going along quite nicely.”

That’s certainly true, and it says a lot for the fringe players in the squad, who have come in and done a job for the team.

And we should see both Taylors back today, Ryan and Steven, at least on the bench, and that’s another good sign that the Newcastle squad will become a lot stronger as the weeks go by.

And Newcastle should also have the great Ben Arfa back for the home game against Wolves on April 2nd, which is a must win for the lads, and a great time for the Frenchman to return.

So it seems that things are looking quite good for the  Newcastle club at his stage of the season, and the lads are doing so much better than we had ever hoped for last August.

A win today would be simply fantastic, and as Alan said it would further increase the team’s momentum.

Howay The Lads!!

If there were prizes for stating the bleedin’ obvious it would be a close run thing between Pardew and Ed. Maybe that’s why Ed has turned this blog into the Pardew Appreciation Society.

We havent been okay when we’ve lost Tiote… our record without Tiote is played 8, won 1, drew 3, lost 4, that isnt okay 🙁

What exactly do you have against Pardew like Spotlight Kid? You seem to slag him off in every post but you never really give a reason.

IMO seen as though everyone on here would’ve took 17th at the start of the season I reckon he’s doing a class job. Come summer if he buys right he could turn out to be a quality manager for us.

Nah, Colo and Willo are coming off the back of two clean sheets, you can’t bring taylor in IMO.

I’ve had this down as a home loss for some time. Bolton comprehensively out-fought and out-thought us last time round, with Enrique having his worst game of the season by far – against their right winger Lee – who skipped past Jose too easily and got ball after ball into the feet of their two strikers.

There is some real crap in this league these days, but Bolton are a really good side for me,,, just hope we are more prepared this time.

You can`t bring Tayls in when he isn`t match fit and Willo and Collo have been doin so well.
Also, they will want to set things right after the poor show they put on at the Reebok.

I agree like Boater, this could be a very tricky game. I dont think its going to be the whitewash it was at the Reebok Stadium though.

I think if our defense are on good form we should win it though.

I must admit i’m very worried about today’s game. Bolton are an in form side who have a good mix of solidity and creativity. More importantly they have goalscorers across the team. As much as i admire Best, i believe that he’s going to struggle today. I dont quite rate Lovenkrands and hope that ranger starts instead. Neverthless, hoping for the best and a loss for the mackems today

Also, really hope that Bartons shows his determination to stay and puts in a blinder today to earn himself a new contract. Barton, Nolan, Tiote & Jona will be critical today as i believe that any chance of a win will require all 4 to be on top form
