Joey Barton And Kevin Nolan Receive Top Recognition

Newcastle midfield powerhouses, Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton, have been named in MATCH magazine’s Top 50 Stars of the United Kingdom  and Ireland.

Joey Barton – scoring first penalty against Arsenal

The midfielders, who are both 28 years old,  have been in great form for the  Newcastle side this season, and we understand manager Alan Pardew is not only trying to get Joey on a long term deal at the club, but he also wants captain Kevin Nolan to sign up for an extended stay on Tyneside.

Indeed, Kevin is top of the scoring charts for Newcastle so far this season, with 11 goals in 27 appearances, and he has a total of 86 appearances for Newcastle, since signing from Bolton Wanderers, and has scored a massive 29 goals over the last two years.

Last year at this time Kevin Nolan was named the Championship Player of the Season, beating out other stars such Charlie Adam of Blackpool.

Joey Barton has played 26 times with 4 goals for Newcastle this season, and in his 42 months on Tyneside has 73 appearances with 8 goals, after suffering from three serious foot injuries during his time at  Newcastle.

MATCH magazine lists what they think are the 50 best players from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland, and may be read on-line – via the link we have provided.

We are hoping that Alan Pardew will be successful in keeping both Joey and Kevin at the Tyneside club over the next few years.

But we have to admit we are starting to have big doubts about Spanish left-back Jose Enrique wanting to stay at the famous Newcastle club past this summer, since there are persistent stories that his agents are already in communication with AC Milan.

That isn’t allowed until AC Milan and Newcastle have agreed a fee for the player, so we’re not sure exactly what is going on right now and whether those stories have any truth in them at all.

It would be nice to have a Direct link Ed. As I couldn’t find it. But then again I’m probably thick.

nolan and baryon have certianly shone this year…though i think that if tiote can clean up his disciplinary record he’s player of the season

maybe one day one of these lads will join the “pavel is a geordie” hall of fame

WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK OF THESE TEAMS WHEN ALL FIT.

I WOULD GO MORE ATTACKING AT HOME AND SLIGHTLY MORE DEFENSIVE AWAY.

    HOME: 3-5-2—–Ranger–Ben Arfa—————-

    ——-Enrique–Nolan–Tiote–Barton–Jonas—–

    ————–Colo—Williamson—S Taylor———

    ————————-Harper————————

    Away: 4-5-1———-Ranger————————-

    —–Ben Arfa–Nolan–Tiote–Barton–Jonas——

    ——Enrique—Colo—Williamson—Simpson—-

    ——————–Harper—————————–

    Subs: Krul,Best,Ireland,Gosling,Fergison,Lua Lua,R Taylor,

Add next season, not a bad team/squad.

anyone have an idea how much alexis sanchez of udinese would cost, he scored 4 goals against palermo the other day, including one outrageous goal where he sprinted at a crazy speed before rounding the keeper after tricking him with a load of stepovers. di natale got a hatrick in that game too, but sanchez is young and can play as a winger or striker so would fit the bill.

Nolan was my Man of the Match against Bolton!
and Barton needs to be signed up pronto!

I am totally pissed that it looks like Enrique will leaving in the summer coz for the first two years he was here he was crap! Its only this season and last that he has been outstanding for us.
If we push on and manage a top 10 finnish however Enrique could be persuaded to stay.

A lot of people on here and other rubriks are talking as if its a foregone conclusion that he,s definitely already gone . He is also wasted at left back, being more at home on the left wing!

Getting back to the theme of the post, our most important players this year have been Barton, Nolan and Tiote, the last has just signed a long term deal. Hopefully the other too will also be signed up soon! And as for Enrique, well i still hav,nt given up the chance that he may still somehow might be persuaded to stay although the reality may see him go.
AC Milan would be a good move for him,as playing against us next year he would murder us on that left wing!
Lets just concentrate on getting three points against the Toffees on saturday, we have one or two difficult fixtures coming up!
