Three Players Newcastle Are Tracking For The Summer

Ivory Coast winger/striker Gervinho and PSV’s  Jeremain Lens are two players who Newcastle certainly seem to be following, ready for the summer transfer window.

Cheikh M’Bengue – Newcastle interested in 22 year-old Toulouse left back

We watched Gervinho last Sunday play for Lille against Lyon on the TV, and he’s very fast down the wing and has an eye for goal.

Apparently one of his weaknesses is that he misses quite a few chances, but given he’s got 11 goals for Lille in around 25 appearances so far this season, at least the lad is getting into position to take the chances, and he’s just 23 years old and there’s room for improvement too.

Gervinho has just 18 months left on his contract at Lille, and Newcastle should be able to get the player for less than £10M hopefully, and talk of paying £15M for him, which Aston Villa were reported to be interested in doing earlier in the week, would hardly make him a good deal for the Magpies.

We have also been linked with 23 year-old Dutch winger Jeremain Lens, and according to our records the first interest shown in the player was last April.

The Amsterdam-born winger has great pace, which seems to be what Newcastle will be looking for in the summer, and that will add another dimension to the side.

The 23 year-old Dutchman seems like Gervinho,  in that he can play as a striker or a winger, and the lad’s already been capped three times by the Netherlands, and currently is at the PSV club.

He’s is on a four year contract, and has scored 7 goals in 25 league appearances for PSV this season, and we’re not sure what the fee would be for Lens, but he does seem a similar player to Gervinho.

And the Sunday Sun is reporting that Newcastle are tracking a number of left-backs in case Enrique leaves the club in the summer, but it could be that Jose has already told Newcastle he will be leaving this summer, as their are persistent reports his agents are negotiating with AC Milan and Liverpool are also interested.

The Sunday Sun is saying this morning that Newcastle are tracking Toulouse left back Cheikh M’Bengue, and the youngster stands 6′ tall and is just 22 years old and has so far played 10 times for the France U21 side.

The Toulouse-born player has been with his hometown club Toulouse since he was just seven years old, and he’s come through the club’s ranks and has so far played 54 times for the Toulouse first team, with one goal.

M’Benque made his debut in September 2007 against Marseilles, at the age of 19, coming on as a substitute in the 2–1 victory.

This is the first time we have been linked with this player and he’s a hard tough tackling full back, and has already had a couple of suspensions because of his very tough tackling.

Sounds good to us.

Hopefully we get these 3 for around 25M then look into buying a class striker and a young RB – also we need someone to play alongside collocini because he is different class to williamson.

Lens is a good player, great pace, but we can’t pay high for him.

Gervinho is a dribbler, but create a lot of chances of goal.

I like if Baird come to us, he’s better than Simpson and Perch.

In Brazil, we have a great forward, Kleber, he played for Dinamo Kiev, good shot, pass, strength.

And we can buy Lincoln. He played for many years at Bundesliga, for Schalke and Kaiserslautern, and played for Galatasaray. And is very cheap.

Gervinho up top with Ben Arfa tucked in behind?

They wouldn’t offer much of a threat in the air but would be awesome on the counter attacking with pace.

We’re always being linked with these wingers who can also play as a striker.
What we need is a out and out striker. None of these players mentioned are going to score 20 goals a season in the EPL.

alfa81- the thing is though, they can provide 20 goals a season as long as we buy an out and out striker as well.

this might be me dreaming, but i know theres a chance of us lining up with this team at the start of the season (even if it is a 0.0000001% chance)

All the players i have mentioned (that currently don’t play with us) could all be obtained within reason for the following prices if we bargain right and all want to move to the EPL..

Taiwo: Free (will be tough to get but if not M’Bengue would do for 5mil)

Gervinho: 8mil (we can get him, Tiote could play a part as well, his contract runs out in 18months as well)

Lens: 10mil ( money would play the biggest part here)

Turan: 12mil (wants a move to the Prem as he reaches his prime and wants 1st team football which we could offer)

Ireland: 4mil ( simple, he hates Villa, we can get him for a low price and is a good player)

Erdinic: 8mil ( wants European football but also wants to move to the Prem, again money talks, absolute quality player though)

    Total: 42mil

With the 35mil plus the possible sale of Enrique (which of course i wouldn’t want) 15- 20mil then we would have an incredibly strong team whilst still having money left for wages etc.

Knew it was Cheikh they were watching a week or so ago heard Pardew himself has watched Toulouse 2 times and thus must be him or Moussa.

From the way things look, appears Enrique will be outta here.
Sure the guys a decent player, but he can be replaced and hopefully he will bring in enough to get us a decent replacement.
There`s M`Bengue, Taiwo and the Honduran guy at Celtic everyones raving about.
We should have leverage there with Forster on loan.
So not to worry, even if we lose both he and Jonas, rumored to be going also, would rather have a winger who can get his goals and cross the ball decently.
Expect big changes in the side come summer, as Pardew will want to put his own stamp on the team.
And had there been no big whats is name fee, we would probably lose some players without much in the way of replacements.
One guy i hope we hang onto is Joey, who has made the difference in this side this season, just look at yesterdays game and tell me the side was the same without him.
His very presence tends to give confidence and drive to the side, how much is that worth?

Sign M’Bengue if for no other reason than we can stand our two Cheikhs on either side of Llambias and invite captions for the photo.

    ” Two Premiership defenders: £8 million….
    This photo opportunity….priceless!”

You lot must be dreaming if you think we are going to get any of these players. This is just a smoke screen to deflect recent critisism over the Carroll sale. If your lucky you might get one or three up and coming players from the lower divisions but big money buys – forget it.
There are too many pictures of Pardew on this site and it needs tidying up a bit. It’s disconcerting to see that Ashley plant given so much space. You lot are worse than the Chron site.

We are being linked with everyone and his Dog!

If they fit into our wage structure, however is another question! Jermaine Lens is a good player but will expect to be paid a big salary if he makes the move across from PSV!

For the rest, if scouted properly, there is a load of talent playing in the Dutch,German and French leagues!
Lens is a recognised Dutch International and would cost a lot. We would be better finding another unknown name, like Tiote who no-one had heard of till he came to us and is now making his name playing for us!
If we get Lens then okay, but i would,nt pay over the odds for him!

    Swooping Magpie!

I don,t want to make any big money buys! This how we dropped ourselves in the shite last time!
    ( Michael Owen )!

Who pays 150,000 a week to a player who is injured and sits on the bench doing diddley! Owen screwed us for as much as he could get and then left!

Have you lot been sniffing the deluded pills agains… lol

Fact, if our scouts are watching these guys, don’t you think others are too?? if they are, then what makes you think they’ll come to the Toon over clubs like Spurts, Cessepool, Chelski, Arse-nil, Mancs etc etc??

Snub @ 4 – Those 3 players for £25m plus a class striker & a RB clover all for the supposedly £35m we got frome the Carroll sale… have a word with yersel yeah fella.. lol lol

We’ll be lucky to get 1 of those 3 mentioned & then we may lose 1 or 2 of oour better players to other teams along the way, so we’ll need at least 5 decent players in this summer & none of them individually will cost more than £10m guaranteed… so stop dreaming, it doesn’t help!!!
