Joey Barton Pulled Out Of Everton Game At Last Moment

The surprising news this morning, was that Joey trained on Friday, thinking he would be ready to play against Everton, but had to again pull out at the last moment.

Joey Barton – trained on Friday but didn’t make Saturday game

We knew Joey was very keen to play against the side he supported as a boy, but it’s still a bit worrying that his injury has not healed.

And we have to hope it’s not like Andy Carroll’s thigh injury, which was supposed to take only a couple of weeks to heal at the end of December,  but he was out for a full 10 weeks before he made his debut for Liverpool yesterday.

Alan Pardew is now just concerned that Joey Barton, a really vital player for the Newcastle side, will be fit for Stoke a week come Saturday.

“Joey actually trained Friday thinking that he’d be OK, but again didn’t feel quite right,”

“I don’t think there’ll be a problem for Joey against Stoke, and I don’t think there’ll be a problem with Stephen Ireland.”

“Ireland trained Thursday, and looked like he was going to be OK, and then got the thigh injury which kept him out of training on Friday.”

And the news that we were interested in Norwegian International left-back John Arne Riise, who played at Liverpool for eight seaosns,  is just not true – well at least according to the Newcastle manager.

Speaking on the news that Newcastle may be interested in Riise, Alan Pardew said this today:

“It’s not true – absolutely not true.”

Trying to read between the lines there with what Alan said – we think Newcastle are not interested in the player – what do you think?

So the next time we see headlines linking  Newcastle with this player – let’s at least remember the Newcastle manager has said it’s not true.

But just you watch – there will still be news linking Newcastle with John Arne Riise over the summer – probably when it’s a slow news day.

Comments welcome.

Todays blog reminds me of Newcastle General. Nothing but injuries.
I’m accept and expect game injuries. “in the call of duty” so to say. But the injuries we are getting during training, that’s got me worried. I thought that we had one of the best training grounds in England. In fact I remember when Charles N’Zogbia went to Wigan Steve Bruce said that N’Zogbia would be in for a culture shock.
Has anyone any Idea what Pardew’s injury record was at other clubs?

Gosling and ireland had injuries when we bought them, and it is common when ready to return that another injury occurs due to lack of fitness, that happens everywhere.
Barton hurt himself in a warm up, that’s just a mistake on his part. Hatem ben arfa had his leg busted by a t**t. Smith is crap. And jonas and jose were injured through playing hard as they both always do, that happens now and then. So really, although its unfortunate, I can’t see any point in blaming training grounds and staff

Yes we do have one of the best training grounds in England.

BUT every year we get these problems through the winter when the ground is frozen hard under foot causing issues with strains etc.

AP has highlighted the need for under ground heating at the training ground which will counteract these issues.

It does not seem to matter what players we have, we always seem to have these issues every year, so the players, the manager or the matches are not the issue.

Hopfully there will be progress this season for the under ground soil heating at the training ground this end of the season.

i was walking my dog and i seen jb training on friday and he looked fine. think there is more too it. spat the dummy out again but behind closed doors. hell of a player and dont see the point in not giving him what he wants but somewhere in the contract should be if the performances drop then wages would decrease.
