Magpies Scouting All Over For Players – Must Get It Right

The Newcastle scouting team, including Manager Alan Pardew and Assistant Manager John Carver,  will be out scouting games in Europe over the weekend.

Gervinho – Lille winger – one player Newcastle are after?

Newcastle have already identified potential targets, and they are watching these players before making a final list of those they want to finally go after this summer.

But of course Newcastle’s track record in the transfer market over the last 15 years or so is close to hopeless, although we seem to have started to pick up some decent bargains over the last couple of years, with players like Cheick Tiote and Mike Williamson brought in for what amounts to peanuts – Joey Barton please take note. 😀

It seems like the first time for a number of summers that  Newcastle will be spending some real money on players, as they use the £35M they received for Andy Carroll to bring in some big money players to the Newcastle squad.

Manager Alan Pardew talked to the Evening Chronicle today, and fully understands they have to get it right this summer:

“We don’t want to make any errors because we need to bring in the right type of players.” “I will be going to two games on the Continent this weekend.”

“I will be looking at players again to check them before we give the final nod.” “Whether they are available we don’t know but we’re working hard.”

“We’re looking everywhere – no stone will be left unturned.” “Nothing will be left to chance.”

“The French market, the Dutch market, the Spanish market and the German market – we’re looking everywhere all of the time.”

Newcastle have been linked with a number of good players already of course, and they include Gervinho, Seb Larsson, Johan Elmander, Jason Puncheon, Max Gradel, Jeremain Lens, Connor Whickham and Moussa Sow, to name just a few.

There will be a lot more to come once the summer rolls around,  but we just have to hope that Newcastle can bring in four or five good players, and then we could be in business next season to fight for a Europa Cup place.

Comments welcome.

just seen Thomas Kahlenberg is training with blackburn after being release by wolfsburg due to attitude problems…
this lad has the best attitude ive ever seen and cant understand it. I used to work as an assistant chef to the danish national team and ive spent a lot of time with this guy….very humble and a very good player…..for free i would be very happy with him – way better than loverpants…he can play any where in midfield or on the wings.
he used to be the captain of auxerre in france…

After Lille victory over Marseille last week, you can forget Gervinho excepte if you’re ready to pay twice the price.

Lille will probably play Champions league, the club is extraordinnary well managed, so just give up…

Ed if we sign any 4 of the players that you mentioned we’re after I’ll be ecstatic! I really hope Pardew gets it right. We can’t afford to get it wrong as we’re really tight on players and were relying on our key players to remain fit all season. Now that Barton and Enrique are injured we are really struggling. This is clear evidence that whoever comes in has to be of the same quality or better. I just hope we can survive the drop before we get to the summer as the teams below us keep winning it’s making me sweat. If we survive and buy well in summer there’s no reason we can’t reach a Europa spot next season or even win a cup.

Magpies Scouting All Over For Players – try the injury room and local casino – and ranger might be in the knocking shop – then we might get a full team on the pitch every week, which is not much to ask for 30-40 grand a week.

Everyone seems to have forgotten about Tranquilo(?) Barnetta, I wonder if we’re still interested in him in the summer because I reckon he’d be a class signing, can play either wing or off the striker.

Barnetta is class. He was our target in the winter window. He’s pacy and crosses well. We should get him. He probably won’t cost more than 7mil

I think we offered £8m for him in the january window but then he got injured for a few months so nothing happened with the deal, it’d be class if we got him though.

I like Karim Ziani, former Wolfsburg and Olympique.Good midfielder. He is in Turkey, isn’t hard to bring him.

Please, see Jucilei, great player.Played for Brazil 1 time.Center Midfielder, great pass, strength. Now in Anzhi of Russia.

And I like Chris Baird. Not expensive and so much better than Simpson and Perch.

We can try Lincoln. He played for many years in Europe, he isn’t expensive.A little old, but great player. If we don’t want to pay for sign a player.

And we can try Matt Fryatt, of Hull.

Everyones opinion on darren gibson of Man Utd? Only gets played in cup games in early stages.. Everytime I’ve seen him he’s the best passer for the game and creates quality chances but no one seems to rate him. I though exactly the same for joey barton and look what a success he’s been. Think we should look into D.Gibson!

He’s crossed my mind Snubs. I’ll put it like this, rather him then Ireland, though I think Fergie has him marked down as Scholes long-term replacement.

Hello niafron, I did read your reply regarding Remy. I think he’s more likely than Gervinho to join us. I think Gervinho will follow Hazard in signing a new deal unfortunately. Remy has many attributes that we’re missing, pace, dribbling skill, he’s direct; but would he score enough?

Would be interesting to know, exactly which matches Pardew is personally observing during this break.

    Hi Geordie!

If Rémy play striker and not winger, he can score a lot.

An important news about Marseille’s strikers, Brandao is facing, since this week end, charge for Rape.

So , change will maybe occur in Marseille forward sector.

Listening to Defoes comments the other day about thinking of moving in January and with Spurs being constantly linked with new players I was thinking would love to get Defoe in the summer.Has always scored goals where ever he has been and think Best n Defoe would be great together.Defoe did sign for Portsmouth before so Newcastle would definatly be an option if he would move don’t you think?

Another detail, the girl involved is supposed to be the sister of a player’s agent, and marseille local newspaper “la provence”, report she have already got sex with three other Marseille players in the past inclduing one who have leave the club.

So they will probably be some speculations about Ben Arfa, for his name is heard each time something goes wrong in France.

Like this Sex Scandal last year around Ribéry and Benzema.

Ben Arfa was totaly innocent, but sure, he was the first to be named…

You understand why he was eager to leave France, rarely a player have been so ill treated by the media.

Anyway, about Brandao’s investigation, the police have already said than these three famous player will be heard as witness, but than there’s nothing to reproach them according to the girl statements during his interview by the police officers.

Could this be a possible squad after the summer transfer window for the toon,,, if we get all the 35mill + hold on to the cream of the crop….??

    OUT: Campbell (free/release), Perch(£1mill)
    Routledge(£1mill), Smith(£1mill), Gutherie(£1mill), Lovenkrands(£1mill), Kuqi(Free/release) Best(£2.5-3 mill)..

This with the £35mill would be a handsome £42.5 million.

IN: Jose Bosingwa (£7mill), SW Phillips(£4 mill), Seb Larsson(Free), Stephen Ireland (£5mill), Gervinho (£10 mill), Johan Elmandor (Free), Roque Santa Cruz (£5mill).

Total £31 million and tat would leave us with a squad looking like this…………..

    GK: Harper, Krul, Forster

    RB: Simpson, Bosingwa
    CB: Coloccini, Kadar
    CB: Taylor, Williamson
    LB: Enrique, Ferguson

    RM: SWP, Larsson, Ireland
    CM: Barton, Nolan
    CM: Tiote, Gosling
    LM: HBA, Gutierrez

    ST: Santa Cruz, Elmander, Ameobi
    ST: Gervinho, Ranger

IMO i think we need quality, proven PL class players, with the exception of Gervinho, thats what we would be getting here, although I will be suprised if we get one of these signings with age + wages a problem I think we could do alot worse than this squad..

That’s how our gossip press behave too, build players up to be the next sensation, then do their best to unearth some sleazy scandal, however unlike HBA, they’re usually correct – Rooney, Ashley Cole, Terry etc.

I’m still clutching to the hope that Benzema becomes available, then like you said, guarded by his Islamic faith, believes his destiny is to play alongside HBA. 😀

We are plush with goalkeepers. Harper is our no1, great servant, very consistent, could easily have gained England caps in his career, but for been stuck behind Shay Given for many seasons. Tim Krul, young Dutch U21 keeper, great reflexes and shot stopper, still has a lot to learn about commanding his area and defence. Then there’s Forster, who’s going to be an England international no doubt, he’s young too, about 21, but he’s not happy sitting on the bench, so he has been on loan the past 2 seasons. He’s at Celtic this season, playing every game, doing brilliantly – he and Harper will be battling for the no1 in pre-season, I think.
