The Newcastle scouting team, including Manager Alan Pardew and Assistant Manager John Carver, will be out scouting games in Europe over the weekend.
Gervinho – Lille winger – one player Newcastle are after?
Newcastle have already identified potential targets, and they are watching these players before making a final list of those they want to finally go after this summer.
But of course Newcastle’s track record in the transfer market over the last 15 years or so is close to hopeless, although we seem to have started to pick up some decent bargains over the last couple of years, with players like Cheick Tiote and Mike Williamson brought in for what amounts to peanuts – Joey Barton please take note. 😀
It seems like the first time for a number of summers that Newcastle will be spending some real money on players, as they use the £35M they received for Andy Carroll to bring in some big money players to the Newcastle squad.
Manager Alan Pardew talked to the Evening Chronicle today, and fully understands they have to get it right this summer:
“We don’t want to make any errors because we need to bring in the right type of players.” “I will be going to two games on the Continent this weekend.”
“I will be looking at players again to check them before we give the final nod.” “Whether they are available we don’t know but we’re working hard.”
“We’re looking everywhere – no stone will be left unturned.” “Nothing will be left to chance.”
“The French market, the Dutch market, the Spanish market and the German market – we’re looking everywhere all of the time.”
Newcastle have been linked with a number of good players already of course, and they include Gervinho, Seb Larsson, Johan Elmander, Jason Puncheon, Max Gradel, Jeremain Lens, Connor Whickham and Moussa Sow, to name just a few.
There will be a lot more to come once the summer rolls around, but we just have to hope that Newcastle can bring in four or five good players, and then we could be in business next season to fight for a Europa Cup place.

About wrongly accused people, is there a link between your name and the famous american boxer?
And about BenZema, there was a possibility three weeks ago. It’s over now.
Did you remenber what i wrote about politic and french or spanish club.
As president is elected by the fan’s in Madrid, this criticaly important there.
Now BenZema is doing good job. So he will remain in the club, Mourihno is dead, Valdano an Peres got the hand on all matters.

Comment #44Rubin “Hurricane” Carter? No, thankfully I’ve lived a more placid life, so far. 🙂
I must admit, I’ve kept checking Benzema’s form. Every goal over the past few weeks, has made our small chance, shrink even more.
I think Mourinho is desperate to return to the EPL, but I can’t see any of the top 5 clubs having a managerial vacancy to fill this summer. Seems “The Special One” will have to bide his time. 😉

Comment #45Irish Geordie ; Elamander has 17 goals in 3 seasons
Hes 30 years old so form can only really go one way from here on in, yeah he had a good game against us but we did fall apart. Owen Coyle isnt retarded if he was worth keeping he would be kept. I would rather airey donaldson vuckic or ranger be given more time to progress than sign an unproven old and soon to be past it premier league striker who will still require wages even though he will be acquired on a free.
I do agree though on keeping shola he is a class clown, village idiot most of the time and you think of for gods sake whenever hes played but occasionally he makes you smile and we get to chant his name to the okey cokey which is always a rite laugh,
Eastern europe is the place to be searching generally have larger statures and are better suited to BPL than fragile la liga players
If we were to get Benzema I would ejaculate kittens for months

Comment #52Some personal thought on the team
GK : Harper – Solid and we also have 2 very capable youngests.
DR : Simpson – Average, need another player to compete. Having said that Raylor can be a good cover.
DL : Enrique – Strong but will need a good cover or even a replacement.
DC : Colo, Williams, Saylor – Need another CB or perhaps Kardar can do it
MR : Badly need at least one natural right midfielder. Not necessary a winger tho.
ML: Jonas – Strong , and HBA can cover if needed.
MC : Barton, Nolan, HBA, Guthrie, Tiote, Smith – Good, another creative player would be a plus
AMC : HBA – Strong, Nolan is too slow both on and off the ball for the position IMO, but we have 1 or 2 good youngester ready to step forward if needed…hopefully
Strikers : Poor
Best is okay, but I don’t feel confortable with our other strikers. Shola can be a good squad player but way too injury prone and unconsistent.
So, we need at least –
1 DR
1 DL cover (or 2)
1 DC
1 MR
1 Striker
That makes it 5 – 6 signings.

you propose selling (24yr/ 6 goals in 10 starts) Best for 3.5mil – and signing (30yr/ 4 goals in 2 seasons) Santa Cruz for 5mil.
Are you lashed already?

A straight swap for Forster with Celtic.
The perfect replacement for Enrique, has loads of pace, likes to bring the ball forward.
Twenty five years old.
Ticks all the boxes
Would come here in a heartbeat.

Comment #57i think enrique will sign an extend contract eventualy..besides we have kadar (who never let us down..not in one match) & donaldson as covers..
but we need another central defender, cos willo & tylor are NOT reliable..
we also need another right midfielder (tranquillo)?
& a striker..cos strikers we have..all good backups..but that’s it.. who evers talking about elmander..no fu*kin way..old, & he sucks..he’s having his first good season at 30.. dont know who should we sign..BUT if there’s some truth in benzema rumour..ill be over the moon.. he’s the striker i really rate..i think he could become one of the best ever..
so if we manage to get 3 players in..ALL class..we’re in europe this time next year..& if injury free..champions league..
our squad is strong..but yes..1 solid defender..quality right midfielder & a world class striker & we’re on our way..
just dont buy another central midfielder..i mean..barton, nolan, HBA, gosling, guthrie, tiote, smith..& 47 youngsters with great potential (as we hear week in week out=))

Comment #581) Elmander is crap, and he is almost 30 years old. go for other young and better players i.e Gervinho
2) Larsson is average, against us he is doing nothing
3) i like our idea of buying “unknown” but in the end are good players (williamson and tiote)
*****
4) since our players are always INJURED, so buy 10-15 youngsters (in each position) to cover them all.

Comment #59Pardew will buy the players Ashley wants, ie cheap rubbish to try and finish 4th bottom and get him another years Premier league money, i think even our players will have also had enough of Ashley & will leave one by one this summer, that i have doubt of….
