Newcastle have been linked with French International striker Kevin Gameiro today.
Kevin Gameiro – looks a decent player
This is not the first time Newcastle have been linked with this player as there was a report on the Tutto Mercato Web site last November that the player was interesting Newcastle, but also Arsenal and Tottenham.
The FC Lorient player is also interesting other European clubs like Monaco, Hamburg, Schalke 04 and Benfica.
The 23 year-old has so far played a couple of times for the full France National side, and for the French Youth sides.
Last August, Gameiro was called up to the full France squad by manager Laurent Blanc for their UEFA Euro 2012 qualification matches against Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kevin made his senior team debut in the match against Belarus appearing as a substitute in the second half, and then last month Gameiro earned his second full cap in the 1–0 victory over Brazil.
Like a number of players Newcastle are linked with at the moment, Gameiro can play on either wing or up front as a striker, or even as a withdrawn striker.
The strike started his career with Strasbourg in 2005, and then moved to Lorient in 2008, after Strasbourg were relegated to Ligue 2.
Kevin played 68 times with 17 goals for Strasbourg, and has so far played 105 times with 49 goals for Lorient, which is a decent goal scoring record, albeit in the French League.
This lad looks a decent enough player, and we’ll continue to build up a dossier of players Newcastle are linked with over the summer.
You never know, we may even sign one of them, and then we’ll have all the information all ready on the player.
😀

Comment #1I think buying this guy would be quality, the more french speaking players the more likely ben arfa and tiote will be well settled. Also this guy is pacey and likes running onto balls, which if you’ve ever seen benarfas through balls for benzema he has quite a knack for them

Comment #2A striker! this is more like it – we keep hearing about bargain midfielders when we desperately need a class goal scorer!

Comment #4Now he is a ideal target hope the rumours are true. Looked very good from the limited number of times I’ve seen him play.

Comment #6can all this nonsense stop. everyday its a player we are linked to. 90% of these transfer stories are false. This is just lazy reporting. when the transfer window opens then lets start talking about transfer targets, until then lets focus on the season

Comment #7bristolmagpie, your a dull boring sod…
if you’ve known anything about eds blog is that any news thats related to NUFC will get a mention… now if there’s nothign better than reporting speculation then so be it… if you havent got something productive to say in response to such speculation then just close the web page or move on to a another story… what do you hope to achieve by demanding “all this nonsense to stop”?
why exactly is it “lazy reporting”? ed just collects whatever news he comes across from all his sources and shares them with us… if this thread is lazy reporting then every one is.
and as for focusing on the season… i think you find that there’s time and place to do everything… come match days then its all this site focuses on…
in closing, keep your negative comments to yourself… this is eds blog, he can write what he likes and if you dont like it, f**k right off to nufcblog.org

Comment #9That obviously means that scouts are at France! Hopefully they spot the players that are quality and will be available at a reasonable price.

Comment #12showing your maturity bristol… thank you for hi-lighting your ineptitude… and being able to take criticism in good grace
just bare in mind what i wrote and hopefully you’ll save yourself the hassle of having to respond to threads that dont interest you or that you feel are worthless or nonsense.
this site is about NUFC and everything it encompasses… if there’s speculation in the press about us being interested in a player i’d rather hear about it, even if there’s no truth in it.. its called being a supporter of your team…. anything that mentions NUFC, hell, i wanna know about it… however pointless.
now… NUFC only… no more tit for tat ok?
