Jose Enrique To Stay At Newcastle?

I’ve been talking lately about Jose Enrique, and that he’s  likely to leave Newcastle in the summer, but there’s some good news today on that front.

Jose Enrique – will he stay on Tyneside?

Newcastle  manager Alan Pardew has said today that he thinks Jose Enrique will indeed stay on at the Newcastle club.

We really hope that’s true, because there’s no doubt about it, it would be just terrific news if Jose does indeed sign a new deal at Newcastle, and stays long term.

The Spaniard has long said he does not want to talk about a new deal at Newcastle, until the club are absolutely certain they will be in the Premier league next season.

And that could still be a few weeks away, with our next game after Stoke today being in two weeks time at home to Wolves, so if we can win the next two games, that would give Newcastle 42 points and safe enough with 7 games still to play.

It’s no secret that both Liverpool and AC Milan seem very interested in the top class Newcastle left-back, who may get a full Spanish cap sooner rather than later.

Pardew has always said he want to keep all the top players already at the club, although he did miss out famously, when the club sold Andy Carroll in January, but if Andy is the only one to leave, Newcastle will be in great shape for next season.

It seems Newcastle have been successful in tying down the great Cheick Tiote, as we talked about earlier today, and Mike Williamson too, who has been excellent this season and also signed  a long term deal at Newcastle.

This is what Alan Pardew told the Evening Chronicle today:

“There is no update at the moment.” “Jose Enrique’s a little bit different because he wants to make sure we’re safe before he opens negotiations.”

“Once we’re safe, Jose said he wanted to talk.” “We’re hoping to do that before the end of the season.”

And Joey Barton is another player the fans want to stay at the club, and he is now a huge favorite with the Newcastle fans.

It will mean a lot to Alan Pardew if he is able to keep his best players at the club, and of course he will be doing all he can to persuade them behind the scenes to stay.

Alan says he has a great relationship going with Joey Barton, and he thinks Joey is a great player – and he’s right about that.

This is what Alan said generally about the contract situation on Tyneside:

“I think everyone else will run now on their contracts until the end of the season.”

“We’ll all sit down and try to iron out issues with players in terms of contracts, and hopefully keep our best players at this football club. That’s what we want to do.”

This is potentially good news today, and if you’d like to send a note to Joey or Jose, asking them to stay at the club,  you can do so here.

Both Joey and Jose have been in terrific form for Newcastle this season, and it would be great if they both stay long term on Tyneside.

ochytoon, Brought my motorbike out of hibernation today. Weather is still a bit fresh here and went for a 50 km ride. That clears your head of cobwebs. Of course you could also try the start where you finished cure.

ocytoon if anyone invented a one pill hangover cure theyd make more money than if they invented a car which ran on water. A bacon stottie and orange juice also help if hair of the dog is out of the question

any1 who agree with me? why should a Player like enrique leave if he plays regular, get money for it( Even if u leave the club it’s a lot of money, even though it could tempt with some millions a year more), Premier league, players who will work for each others no matter what, AND ure a star player at the club, one of the best actually, and the Geordiepeople loves you. with the + and -, there are more reasons to stay, instead to warm the bench in a big club, watching youre best tears slip away trogh yore fingers. Just Sayin!

Pardew has only got himself into a ditch here. If Joey Barton and Enrique leave in the summer then what will he look like to our fans?

Newcastle United team in full: Steve Harper, Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Sol Campbell, Fabricio Coloccini, Jose Enrique. Joey Barton, Cheik Tiote, Kevin Nolan. Shola Ameobi, Peter Lovenkrands.

Subs- Tim Krul, Steven Taylor, Danny Guthrie, Shane Ferguson, Jonas Gutierrez, Shefki Kuqi, Nile Ranger.

I’m going for a straight 2-0 win. Nile Ranger with 2 goals off bench at half time

All i have to say is that is a really strong bench right there for us! If not working together for lovo and ameobi put on Ranger and Kuqi for 20-30 minutes. And of course Jonas can come on for any one for one of the defenders if has to , then we can revert to a 4-4 -2 system.

‘so if we can win the next two games…’ hahaha! You’ve been saying that for a month or two now Ed.

I’d be surprised if he stayed to be honest, like I was surprised when Tiote signed up. They could obviously do better elsewhere and if they have ambition and want to win things then I can’t see them staying more than a couple more years.

Its not like Newcastle are going to improve that much in this space of time.

@Brutoon: Your dreaming! Your never going to get 20m for a player towards the end of his contract. The papers have been quoting around 10m and I think thats about fair as long as theres enough interest in him, eg: a few clubs providing a bit of competition for his signature.

Better to get 10m then loose him on a free the season after.

It`s a well known policy of players egged on by their agents to threaten to leave for sides with more ambition, in order to get a decent contract, just business.
However in Enriques case he may want out, if he does`nt get a call up for the national side soon he may never get one and lets face it there will be more exposure in Milan than Geordieland.
Thats if the reports are to be believed.
Then again if we could get ten big ones for him, hey what the hell you could replace him with a pretty decent LB for 10m.
