It looks like Stephen Ireland could be fit got the important home game with Wolves in 9 days time.
Stephen Ireland – still not fit yet
And it seems Alan Pardew see the Irishman as an important player for Newcastle in the run-in to the season.
Stephen was all ready to make his debut against Everton a few weeks back, but then pulled a thigh muscle the day before the game, and has been ruled out ever since.
This is what the Newcastle manager said about Stephen’s situation today:
“Stephen becomes an important figure for us in the last eight games,” “When Andy Carroll left, we wanted to bring in a quality player, and Stephen’s a quality player.”
“He’s been a little bit unlucky with injury, but we think he’ll be available.” “We’re hoping he’ll train fully on Monday, which would give him a week’s work going into the Wolves game,”
“He’s got a very good chance, though we’re conscious of what happened the last time when he pulled a muscle in his thigh.” “You’ve got to be so careful with players coming back as they can pick up little injuries.”
“We’ve taken a little bit more time over him. He could probably join in today or tomorrow, but we’ll hold him back until next week.”
Stephen has an excellent chance of cementing his deal at Newcastle in the summer, and we hear he is desperate to come to Tyneside, because he can start to make an impact for Newcastle in the remaining 8 games of the season.
If Stephen can get anywhere near the form he showed when he was at Manchester City, he could become a bargain buy for Newcastle at around £8M.
But if the 24 year-old does make his debut on April 2nd, then it will have taken a good two months for the player to get fit in time to play for Newcastle United, and that’s a long time for a player on loan for just four months.
Let’s hope we are paying Aston Villa for the loan, based on when the player is fit to play.
Comments welcome.

If he was good enough tho, Citeh whould have stuck by him. Obviously deemed surplus to requirements.
Sounds like he’s just right for us then haha

yeah ranger is my pick to be great for us come next season, i tell it to any of my friends who will listen.
@geordieboy1982 city dont need to stick by anyone regardless of how good they are, they could buy a replacement without the hassle. we however have to work for our players

Ermm ! so you consider showing your abs. as acting like a dick ?
Stretching it a bit aint you ?
Seems to me there`s a number of fans who can`t wait to see him screw up and you just may be one of them, are you ?
Leave the guy alone , let him show what he`s got on the pitch, if he screws up then take your shot.
Look both guys have history`s, but to single out one in particular, simply reflects a bias of some kind.

Comment #50Now chuck, dont get me wrong, i dont mind player going out and having a drink, but the day before a game when your team is struggling in the league, shows a little bit of disrespect to me.
The fact they were flashing their abs might impress you (joking) but all it says to me is “flashy b*stards”
Modern footballers forget that they are role models and blaming it on the money is another excuse for them. Look at Jack Withshire and Theo Wallcott at Arsenal, they are well paid, probably better than Ireland and Best, but you dont see them flashing in a nightclub. The go out, keep themselves to themselves and go home with dignity in tact.
Is it too much to ask for our guys to act in the same way?

Comment #51And im not singling out Ireland. Remember that he is on loan here and were paying his wages. He’s also injured.
For me he has to prove himself ON the pitch before i will give him any leiniency OFF it.
As for Best, if he wants to be a permanent fixture here he needs to realise that the example he’s setting to that young lad they were with is wrong.

Comment #53I think the 3 players and everone else has got the message – they are not messiahs they are just very naughty boys. I mean its not as if they had taken a rifle to the training pitch – now thats what I call a real arsh@le – respect!

I get it, flashy ba****ds eh ?
Out drinking (not true) before a game (in which none were penciled in to play)
So it`s ok for Wilshire, Carroll, Joey, Rooney, Shearer puncing Gillespie, Gazza etc you name them to get smashed and cause scenes, but it`s a major no no for three kids to show their abs and laugh.
You serious ?

Comment #55You have to be kidding me Pardwho.
If this terwat is your best hope for beating Wolves we might as well give McCarthy’s men the three points now 🙂
What has he done in the past two years that makes you think he’ll even play for 30 minutes without breaking his fingernail and limping off.
This bloke’s best days (if he ever had any) are way way behind him.
I can only assume that Pardwho had been drinking heavily before talking bull once more 🙁

Comment #57“Assuming the usual 50-50 split between the clubs, even at a conservative estimate, Newcastle and Villa will have forked out around £250,000 each in wages for precisely nothing in return”

Comment #61Hopefully we are scouting St Etienne too.
Emmanuel Rivière is looking amazing, watching French u21’s vs Spain, he already has 2 goals before half time. is STRONG and powerful but does what i love which for a striker he is clinical but also helps others makes runs to take defenders away and also passes well.
Being 21 he seems a perfect age for us.

Comment #62The problem is that the club is poorly prepared to compete at the top level..this is the reason we get so many injuries through rushing players back…like AP did on sat with Enrique which could threaten the rest of his season…and we have had no recognised back up for LB for how long now!
He loans in a player like Ireland who is unfit and has been bang outta form for the last season and expects him to be a key player over the next 8 games… smacks of desperation to me.
Before too long AP will be announcing his final throw of the dice with 3/4 games to go when he will risk the fitness of HBA in an attempt to save his skin and our premiership safety.

Comment #63According to everything I have read it was Enrique who said he was fit and the medical staff passed him. Pardew is manager (not the best) and not a doctor. I can’t see how you/we/I/anyone can blame him for that mistake. I also think the next four games will see us safe.

Comment #64i dont understand the doom and gloom mongers honestly weve only lost 3 games in 2011 5 of are next 8 games are against teams below us, 4 games at home we only need to wins.
pardew is good manager i will admit his team selection for the last to games has cost but that is simple bcoz of playing players out of position,
ferguson has got to play the final 8 games forget all this he got the experience we need to survive bcoz am sick of seein players with the experience not performing, ferguson has the skill n raw talent we need to create

2/3 big signings of 10/14mill 2/3 singings at bout 1/4mill and 3/4players on frees
