It seems that Newcastle are at last getting some good news.
James Perch – ban reduced to just a single game
And it’s that Newcastle defender James Perch has had his three-match ban reduced to just one match after a successful appeal today.
The defender was sent off in the Reserve team game earlier this week, and it happened when James was kicked by young forward Ravel Morrison, but he then grabbed the player and the two of them were summarily sent off by referee Ross Joyce.
But Newcastle have appealed the severity of the three match ban, and were successful today, as an FA regulatory commission came out and agreed with the Newcastle club.
They now have reduced Perch’s ban to just a single game, to be served from April 4, and that means he will miss the match at Aston Villa on the following Saturday.
But at least Ryan Taylor will be back for that match, having served his three match ban by then, for being sent off against Bolton Wanderers.
James Tavernier was recently recalled from his loan spell at Gateshead to provide more cover for Newcastle at the full back position, but we doubt he will go back to Gateshead now, as all loan moves in any case had to be completed by 5:00 pm today for Conference clubs.
Now, with this good luck, if only Wolves will score a couple of own goals a week tomorrow.
