Newcastle Interested In Swedish International Defender

Copenhagen left-back Oscar Wendt will be in a free agent  this summer, and both Liverpool and Newcastle are said to be in talks with the player.

Oscar Wendt – Swedish International left back

Alan Pardew said that he was in talks with two free agents just last week,  so perhaps this 25 year-old Swedish International left-back is one of them.

There are lots of rumors going around at the moment that Jose Enrique is going to leave Newcastle in the summer, and if that’s true, the Magpies will need to bring in an experienced left-back,  to replace the Spanish U21 player.

The news is that while other clubs are after the Copenhagen left-back, Newcastle and Liverpool are said to be the clubs that have already talked with the player. QPR and Sporting Club of Lisbon are also said to be interested in the player.

Wendt has talked to the Swedish paper Sportbladet:

“Sporting Lisbon are one of the clubs we are talking to, then we have decided to not name the others”.

“But my agent has serious talks with them. Nothing is decided, but I am not stressed about it. I want to find a club which feels right”.

Since Liverpool are one of the clubs said to be interested in signing Newcastle’s Jose Enrique, then if that deal happened in the summer, that would seem to leave the way open for Newcastle to sign Wendt as a replacement.

Newcastle have also been linked with a move for Taye Taiwo of Marseilles, and the  25 year-old Nigerian International left-back is also available as a free transfer in the summer.

The 25 year-old Wendt started his career back in 2003 at IFK Göteborg and played there 91 times with 4 goals, before moving to Copenhagen in 2006.

Oscar, who stands just under 6′ tall, has played 80 times for FC Copenhagen, and has represented Sweden 14 times so far, and also played for the Swedish U21 14 times.

Any insurance for jose will be welcomed and the club and games he has played in are quality plus free agent just what ashley wants.. That being said I like what I’m seeing from ferguson not sure he is a LB but bottom line is he is a footballer that’s for sure and u have to find a way to keep nurturing his game.. I have to say I’m impressed the way we have worked the youngsters into the first team I like the way we are doing it that being said I’d like next season to Vukecic and Richardson to be given a few run outs next season.. Yes next season we will be in the PL and that was the goal so everyone be happy we made a few good moves this year and a few tough ones like AC and CH but the goal will be reached and that’s consecutive seasons with steps in the right direction.. So supports the lads no matter what its the colors and badge we love!! HWTL!!!

Just came across this. I write for CSAR but this is a load of shite. I’d like to know when Jose said he was definitely not signing a new contract like.

It was great seeing John Carver’s face light up yesterday when Newcastle Scored.. you could see the passion and the will to win in his eyes and how Happy he was …He’d bleed Black and White ..what a true Newcastle Man he is

And just to add that Alan Pardew has really grown in the last 10 years from his hammers days ..Remember how he had a pop at Souness
when after a win down there Souness said the West Ham center backs played like school boys

Alan Went ga ga! on Motd

Good Also to hear JC say that Alan Smith Does a fantastic Job at the club even though he’s injured and out at the moment. He Loves the club ..Loads of positives for we Supporters then Eh !

IN Midweek I posted a blog all about Peter Lovenkrands uncanny positional sense and got slagged off for it !

Also said he would score goals ..look at everything he did against Wolves .. He’s in position and thinks so fast he’s there before our striker even knocks the ball on ..So so intellegent a player ..but I said all this last week and got pilloried for it ..Can I take my head out of the stocks now? ..Right Im off fishing for big mouth Bass ! Howeh the Lads ..well thats how I write it !

Why is it that whenever we’re linked to someone, Liverpool is also targeting that same player?

Off topic,I can see Danny Guthrie coming a great player for us,Hopefully he can learn off Cheik Tiote how to sit in the middle of the centers back when we have the ball, Howay the lads.

    Talented yes! Interested NO!
Honestly! The lad is a waste of a shirt here!

The lads who pulled on the black n white yesterday are 10 times te player ireland is, as they have the heart to play and give their all!!

I think this would be a good signing, especially as he is a free!

Also would like to see us sign some of these as well. See what you think: –

    1) Francisco Femenía (aka Kiko)
    2) Daniel Villalva
    3) Axel Witsel
    4) Steven Defour
    5) Gervinho
    6) Ricky Van Wolfswinkel
    7) Wallyson
    8) Possibly Ezequiel Lavezzi although this depends on the asking price!
    9)Mathias Jorgenson
    10) Marek Suchý
    11) Sébastien Corchia
    12) Daniel Opare
    13) Alan Dzagoev

I would be happy with any of these.

It makes a change but I actually agree with Angryman.

We were all told Ireland was fit and ready for this match, yet he wasnt even on the bench. He’s running out of games to prove himself and he won’t be playing against villa either Im guessing.

His natural position is Nolans spot, and hes got 12 goals and is our leading scorer this season, how can you justify dropping him for Ireland.

    Brutooon and one other ,

Yes thats what Im saying …And JC said He’s great to have around. We all know He’s out with a career worrying injury

And As for your assessment of him as a player, Well he may not be the player he once was,but he was good before the horrendous broken leg and ankle he suffered

Just think what he has been through with Injury
I wish people would remember that before they put the boot in from behind a computer..and a lot have. And Im not meaning you Bru.

He’s a Sportsman and a pro footballer, not a burglar or some sort of criminal . Some of the comments Iv read on here are below the belt when it comes to Smithy .

He’s passionate about the club be it on the pitch or off, give him a break… .

    No Im not Smudger’s Dad.

Whatever to pay 60k a week to be a good motivator and love the club but not a good player get realistic! Ridiculous it is no point in having pardew then as isn’t that his job and he’s on less than half what smith is on. Get rid and get a free transfer the many many out there Albin from Getafe would be amazing and wouldn’t be 60k a week could get marveux from Rennes and larsson from Birmingham for same wages what a joke think about it I’m making more than sense!

When Smudger signed from Man U he was not a bad player.. and its not his fault that he’s on 60 k a week is it ?

And its not his fault that he was crocked ..forget money for a moment …He is in a bad position as a player because of two really bad injury’s He did not wish that on himself did he ?

So to get realistic Look at his story and what he’s been through…

BY the way I was not trying or ever mentioned in my post that I was trying to justify his wages ..so don’t pick me up on that one Keyboard warrior !

And If AS can be useful while he’s recovering good on him .

Why dont you see people as people and see the other side of what a player might be going through ?

Its not his fault that he was signed on £60k a week is it? .
