Newcastle United have announced a second game on their American tour, and will play against the Columbus Crew at their Crew Stadium on Tuesday, July 26th.
We would expect at least one more fixture still to be announced, but this is a good game for the Newcastle team, and of course last week the club announced their first game against Sporting Kansas City on July 20th.
The exhibition (friendly) game will kick off at 7.30pm, and Columbus Crew President and General Manager Mark McCullers said this about the game:
“We are pleased once again to bring top-flight international soccer right here to Columbus and to provide the best competitive challenge for our team.”
” The English Premier League is arguably the best league in the world and Newcastle United is one of its most storied clubs.”
Newcastle did play at the Crew Stadium, on July 26th, 2000, when Bobby Robson brought the Magpies over, and at that time they also fixed up a game against DC United in Washington DC.
Here is some information on the Columbus Crew club:
The Columbus Crew is a professional soccer (football in the rest of the world) club based in Columbus, Ohio which competes in Major League Soccer (MLS), the top professional soccer league in the United States and Canada.
It is one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its inception.
The club was owned by Lamar Hunt, who also owned the Kansas City Chiefs and FC Dallas until his death in 2006, and then his son, Clark Hunt, took over his sports properties.
Here is also some some information from the Columbus Crew management about the specific game against Newcastle United:
Individual advance ticket prices start at $24, and tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, April 20 at 10am local time, at the Crew Stadium Box Office, all central Ohio Ticketmaster retail locations, via Ticketmaster phone at 614-431-3600 and on-line at www.thecrew.com.

Comment #3I went to the last game in Columbus. Nice little stadium, and Columbus is a great city too. I think Carl Cort made his debut? Finished 2-2 anyway.

Comment #9Cannot be more excited about this as I found out I wouldn’t be able to make it to the KC game. Simply over the moon, I was afraid I’d have to spend thousands to make it to Newcastle to see a game at the Cathedral on the Hill. I still want to make it across the pond to Tyneside to have a Newcastle Brown at Shearer’s and scream my lungs out for the Mighty Magpies.
