Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has surprisingly made two changes to his starting line-up, from the team that hammered Wolves 4-1 last weekend.
Steven Taylor comes in for the suspended captain Kevin Nolan, while 19 year-old striker Nile Ranger gets his first Premier League start ever, in place of Shola Ameobi, who is suffering from a knee injury.
So the injury jinx hits Shola again, and this lad has always had a hard job staying fit.
The only change is really Steven Taylor for Kevin Nolan, but we thought it would be Ryan Taylor replacing Nolan, and that he would play right wing with Joey Barton in central midfield.
Argentine international Fabricio Coloccini will now probably play in a central midfield role alongside Danny Guthrie, with Steven Taylor at center-back.
This seems a very odd team selection, and we again are having players playing out of position, and Ryan Taylor doesn’t get the start we thought he would get, and we assume Joey Barton will stay out on the right wing.
We have to assume Coloccini and Nolan play in central midfield, unless Guthrie starts on the right wing, and Joey Barton is played in central midfield, and we like that latter formation.
Kevin Nolan, Cheick Tiote and James Perch are all not available because of suspensions, and Ben Arfa, Dan Gosling, Alan Smith and Leon Best are out with injuries.
Stephen Ireland is not allowed to play against his own club, so there are 8 players not available for today’s game, for one reason or another.
It’s an odd looking Newcastle side to us, but the lads must go out and win this game, and make up for the heartaches and despair of two years ago.
Howay The Lads!!

I have found these two sites the best to watch Newcastle games on-line:

or:

The best way to watch is with Sopcast or Veetle. Here are the links to download.

Veetle: http://www.veetle.com/
The advantage with Sopcast is you can (as I found out today) record – here is a site that explains how to do that:

Comment #242Maybe S.Taylor should have been sold?
He doesn`t challenge attackers, falls asleep during games.
Poor marking for the goal.
We were poor all day after the goal.
Badly missed our captain today

Another strange formation by Pardew loses us three points.
He’ll blame the injuries but he was manager during the transfer window.
Routledge could have done a job today ….
No forwards … crazy way to run a Premiership club.

i can only hope Ranger take that as a lesson learnt and realise he is nowhere near the full package.

Comment #246Ranger is shocking, Simpson is bollocks gave away so many corners. Lovenkrands was pants. Barton was sloppy. Enrique seemed so complacent, looks like he’s half way out the door already. Mike Ashely you fat mug, you expect us to win games when we have around 12 senior players actually available, and half of them are bollocks. You cant expect us to win with f****g 16 year olds on the bench. Fucking useless the whole team.
Barton saying he is the best English midfielder?

Comment #251One of most demoralizing profromances of the year we lacked any imagination, Jose Enrique was terrible looked soo injured and unfit it was crazy, Loven was non existant as per usual not likely to score he didnt even try to get onto Rangers flick ons. feel sorry for Ranger did he role of winning the ball but the whole midfield didnt support.
Barton was one of the worst he got annoyed after 10 minutes and played like a little annoyed kid for the rest he passing was abismal. Harper did ok good save but that will mask how poor he was from the goal a keeper shouldnt be beaten like that but because of his age he took an age to move across his goal cannot wait for him to retire.
And we hope to get into Europe, yeah rite we looks so ordinary today luckily our defence was rather good in most parts apart from setplays, but our midfield had nothing and didnt make any chances for our attack, would of prefered to see Ame and Ranger.
Both terrible teams playing our a terrible game, so for the end when even more they will pump ball in box they took for Ranger instead of Loven, does Pardew have a soft spot for Loven or something??

Comment #254Disappointing result but the squad is threadbare. Only one goal in it and on another day it could have been a win for us. Thought Harper, Willo, Enrique, Guti, Guthrie had a decent game. Barton below par. Saylor at his clumsy worst although he is short of matches. Simpson needs to get tighter to his man but did ok. Ranger did ok winning aerial ball but his runs were poor. Collo much better at CB than DM. Loven was ok. Ranger should have slid him in for a tap in.
Had to laugh at the “You’re just a s**t Gareth Barry” chants towards Barton.

Comment #255totally agreed, its the worst side ever. we cant ever make a 5 pass limit. after 2-3 pass, aston villa got the ball.
We need a major overhaul in Summer.
and when Ranger is OUT, we play attacking football.

Comment #256F!!cking useless performance by everyone apart from Harper. Ranger was foocking bollocks couldn’t even touch the ball. Lovenkrands was pants barely done anything. Barton was very sloppy. Enrique was so complacent, this guy is half way out the door already, so it’s not like he gives a sh1t. Simpson gave away so many corners, he is not a PL striker, at best he should be playing for Ipswich in the Championship. Aston villa closed us down extremely well, they made us lose every pass, but when aston villa passed they could do whatever they wanted to no one was closing them down at all. Steven Taylor was extremely rusty, Ryan Taylor had the chance to redeem himself and he f!!cked up. Kuqi shouldve started not Ranger Danger.
Mike ashely is a complete pr!ck who thinks we can actually win games with 16 year olds on the bench. I mean at the moment we have 12 senior players available, many of which are useless and Championship players at best (Lovenkrands, Simpson, Ranger, Kuqi, Ryan Taylor, Guthrie & from that performance Barton). This mug needs to spend atleast £40 million in the summer for me to feel any bit optimistic about his future prospects for the club. What an absolutely useless performance from a team managed by a pillock and someone none of us wanted.
Mike Ashely you’re a mug for trying to run a football club.

Comment #259This was one of the worst performances of the season for Newcastle. Absolute hell of a shocker. Very boring and no chance creation all game. Lovenkrands is SHIT! Not just him but our whole squad did nothing today. Harper, Williamson give them credit that ‘s it.

Comment #260I dont know why Barton says he is the best English midfielder?
I would pick, Ashely Young, Wiltshire, Gerrard, Lampard, Joe Cole, Albrighton, Downing, Parker, Nolan, Tiote, Scholes, Barry, O’hara over him
And there just some of the names I can list in my angry state of mind at the moment.

Comment #264Alot of you need to think like a real football fan and not thinking like shit fans and been so pessimistic. Apart from top 4 who can do without best, ameobi, arfa, gosling, smith, ireland, tiote and nolan? tiote nolan arfa and best and ameobi would all be playing so complaining about our bench and stuff what do you want us to do? you think pardew wanted tiote and nolan to get cards? you think he wanted best to be injured for season? you think he expected aemobi to break his cheek? you think he wanted ameobi out today? smith and gosling out for seaosn? you think he wanted all this not a chance in hell these things happen but we arent top 4 you cant have a massive bench but even so we have decent squad depth but when you have 8 players out not even manu without rooney berba nani valencia carrick scholes anderson park would be winning too many games would they!
just give them a break will you they tried and tried but sometimes you cant help it with so many injuries its not lack of depth its too many injuries. we defended well but had too many players out only need one win and we stay up which will come agaonst birmingham when we have our full team back together again with tiote nolan ameobi and irlena dall playing. you watch its not that bad at all considering the circumstances cheer up guys aston villa had their full team out and if we had ours we would have killed them FACT!
