Newcastle After Cheick Tiote’s Ivory Coast Team Mate

Newcastle have been linked with Ivory Coast attacking midfielder Romaric.

Romaric – cut price deal for the Ivory Coast International

The Newcastle club will have found all about 27 year-old Romaric from their star Ivory Coast defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote, who has been in great form for Newcastle this season, since signing from FC Twente last August f.or just £3.5M.

The Spanish Daily Diario de Sevilla is reporting there has been a row between the club and the player, and it seems Newcastle will move in quickly for what will be a cut price deal for Romaric, who turns 28 in June.

It appears the 42 times capped player is fed up at being on the bench at Sevilla, and that’s not unlike the case of Tiote at FC Twente, where then manager Steve McClaren hardly started the 24 year-old Tiote, who has rapidly improved his game at the Newcastle club this season.

Newcastle have been so pleased with Tiote, they are also said to be also tracking Ivory Coast International winger/striker Gervinbho at Lille,  and may move for that player in the summer too.

Tiote will give his Ivory Coast team-mate a glowing endorsement of the Newcastle club, since Cheick often waxes lyrical about the City of Newcastle and the Newcastle fans, who have quickly taken the defensive midfielder to their hearts.

Christian Koffi Ndri (Romaric) was born in Abidjan, the capital of the Ivory Coast in June 1983, and started his career with home-town ASEC Mimosas in 2001, before moving to Belgian club Beveren in 2003.

He then moved to French club Le Mans in 2005 before joining Sevilla in 2008, and he has so far played 48 times with 2 goals for the Spanish club.

The 6’2″ tall midfielder joined Sevilla for £7M from Le Mans three years ago, but are said to be willing to accept a lower fee for the player.

Romaric seems just a little old, although Alan Pardew has often said he also needs to bring in some experienced players in the summer, so this player could well fit the bill at Newcastle.

What do you think?

Benni hasn’t played because he doesn’t train and eats so much. He is so overweight and has no movement would be a waste on his high wages. Better off signing me up, i’d play for free too

its bee said on hear that you can only sign a player that was out of contract in January, but it’s not the case because the new transfer system was actually against European employment law they had to make concessions so any player out of contract can be signed, and the only reason that the hole systems not collapsed is it suits the clubs that it doesn’t.

We need to be careful we don’t end up with too many African players, because they disappear for long periods to play the African nation cup, with the 25 man squad its risky

Dave, I think its a little early to be worried about that, I mean at the minute we only have 1. If we sign this lad and Gervinho thats 3.

I know they would be three of our best players but I like to think out of the 22 other over 21s and the youth lads could cover them during the African cup of nations.

IF he comes for cheap then buy him he can be usefull for us since we have lot of injuries and suspension so we have to INCREASE our squad depth with quality and bargain players

I checked him out on Youtube and he is seen on the video lifting up goal-posts with his team-mates. Amazing talent with good team-work.

Sadly, we got no chance of getting Sturridge. Not until he realises that he has no chance of getting ahead of the 50 million pounds blue trash can.

Considering Coentrao is being touted around at about £20 million and is wanted by Madrid and such, we have no chance of getting him.

Spaceghost. How the hell can you mention Mourinho and Hughton in the same sentence?! Hughton is still unemployed while Mourinho goes from top club to top club! Mourinho could take on Newcastle and make a difference whilst Hughton could not take on Barcelona/Real Madrid etc! Get some sense!

I hope that when we play Liverpool Carroll is left in no doubt about how we feel about his two-faced, lying, traitorous conduct!

African Nations players are great athletes and are well worth a look at.
They also seem to have a great attitude and work ethic too.
Also any purchases like Romaric or Gervinho (or both) would only help to keep Tiote more happy and settled here.

He got fined by the club for drinking night before a game and then since then he hardly has featured as a starting 11 player, would be a solid buy but depends how much i reckon they would want like 6-8 Million, might be alot of money for us.

Just hope we get Long/Sturridge then i will be happy having two scorers who play completely different Long (poacher) Strruidge does everything he makes goals and scores them out of nothing which is great to have.

He looks a decent player. Alan Hutton is also available this summer. I would love us to sign him, he is fantastic at getting forward.

Looks like every Ivory Coast player short of Drogba is going to be linked with us after Tiote’s successful 1st season.

    What’s that about Drogba…???
