Newcastle have been linked with Ivory Coast attacking midfielder Romaric.
Romaric – cut price deal for the Ivory Coast International
The Newcastle club will have found all about 27 year-old Romaric from their star Ivory Coast defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote, who has been in great form for Newcastle this season, since signing from FC Twente last August f.or just £3.5M.
The Spanish Daily Diario de Sevilla is reporting there has been a row between the club and the player, and it seems Newcastle will move in quickly for what will be a cut price deal for Romaric, who turns 28 in June.
It appears the 42 times capped player is fed up at being on the bench at Sevilla, and that’s not unlike the case of Tiote at FC Twente, where then manager Steve McClaren hardly started the 24 year-old Tiote, who has rapidly improved his game at the Newcastle club this season.
Newcastle have been so pleased with Tiote, they are also said to be also tracking Ivory Coast International winger/striker Gervinbho at Lille, and may move for that player in the summer too.
Tiote will give his Ivory Coast team-mate a glowing endorsement of the Newcastle club, since Cheick often waxes lyrical about the City of Newcastle and the Newcastle fans, who have quickly taken the defensive midfielder to their hearts.
Christian Koffi Ndri (Romaric) was born in Abidjan, the capital of the Ivory Coast in June 1983, and started his career with home-town ASEC Mimosas in 2001, before moving to Belgian club Beveren in 2003.
He then moved to French club Le Mans in 2005 before joining Sevilla in 2008, and he has so far played 48 times with 2 goals for the Spanish club.
The 6’2″ tall midfielder joined Sevilla for £7M from Le Mans three years ago, but are said to be willing to accept a lower fee for the player.
Romaric seems just a little old, although Alan Pardew has often said he also needs to bring in some experienced players in the summer, so this player could well fit the bill at Newcastle.
