Scan On Shola Ameobi’s Knee Is Clear

The scan on Shola Ameobi’s knee that was done yesterday, has come back clear and shows no damage to the knee.

Shola Ameobi – what the hell’s that?

That’s good news for Newcastle, and there’s now hope that Ameobi can be fit for the game next Tuesday night against Manchester United.

But on the other hand, the club will not risk the Nigerian-born striker, who was a huge loss for the team last Sunday at Villa Park.

It appears Shola took a knock on his knee in training on Saturday, and on Sunday the knee was swollen, and he couldn’t make the game at Villa Park.

Alan Pardew has made it clear he will not risk Shola next week if he is not completely  100% fit, and he told the local Newcastle press corps today:

“It’s good news on Shola.” “The scan’s come up clear, which is really good news.”

“We obviously didn’t want to run without him until the end of the season.”

“We’ve got to protect him now, and make sure that he is involved in as many games as possible.”

“He is a possibility for Manchester United.” “You’re only as good as your last game, and in that sense we lost our best player for Aston Villa.

“It made a difference to our team.” “As well as Nile tried, he’s got a lot more to learn.”

While Newcastle may have a tough job getting anything out of the game with the Red Devils next Tuesday, the game after that, a week on Saturday, is at Blackpool.

And that’s another massive game for Newcastle, much like the Wolves game, and Blackpool  are 4th bottom of the league at the moment, and the Magpies will definitely need Shola for that game.

Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan will be back from his two match suspension for that game, which is also good news.

If Newcastle can win any two of the games against Blackpool, Birmingham and WBA, they can still end up in a fairly good position in the league table.

And way above the bottom three – that’s for sure. 😀

Howay The Lads!!

Good news, team I would play again Man Utd:

    Harper
    Simpson, Colo, Willo, Enrique
    Barton, Tiote, Guthrie, Jonas
    Shola Lovenkrands

I would tempt over chucking young ferguson in at the deep end on the LW and put Jonas on RW with Barton in the middle for Guthrie…

That Nolito we have been linked with (The lad from Barca) looks quite good, good on the ball, good body strength:

@ciaran, Man Utd defence is very physical and the villa game proved to me that without shola we have no chance up front. Shola is already playing injured for us (once again) and Man Utd can easily injure him.

We need him more for blackpool, birmingham and west brom if hes crocked for them then what are we going to do?

For the Man Utd game i’d play Ireland just off the striker Ranger or Pete
Jonas Tiote Barton and Raylor then the standard back 4

I’ll also be praying the Chicorita gets a stomach bug

    ———Harps———
    Sim-Wilo-Colo-Jose
    ——–Tiote——–
    Jonas–Joey–Ferguson
    ——Ireland
    ——-Strolla/Stranger

That’s how I’d line-up against Manure. The only weakness I could see, is Hernandez’ mobility around Wilo, always buzzing around that one.

With the £35m, we should be replicating Liverpool’s ‘2 for 1’ strategy, I know this sounds farfetched, head in the clouds etc, but if we have real European ambition, spend it on Hulk and Falcao. Instant transformation! Imagine this:

    ——–Harps——–
    Guti-Wilo-Colo-Jose
    —-Tiote-Barton—-
    Hulk-B.Arfa-Ferguson
    ——-Falcao——-

Subs (to be chosen from): Krul, Simpson, Upson, Saylor, Wendt, Larsson, Gosling, Ireland, Nolan, Best, Shola.

Possibly play Nolan behind the ST, moving HBA to LWF.

    Yes I’m bored. 🙂

WWJBD, I’m with you, save him for the games where there is a distinct chance for points. And don’t try to play him 2 weeks in a row.

Get Ranger out there & make sure he keeps moving. He needs to find out what he can do, not just fall into the back pocket of his defenders. He is not ready for the big time, but he can learn a few things and build on them.

Can’t believe the ambition levels of some fans. Where has this euphoria come from that suddenly Ameobi is a world class striker that we’re in desperate need of. For his height he’s has shocking ariel ability which he hasn’t improved since he first put on a newcastle shirt, granted he’s scored headed goals but he can’t flick it on or hold the ball up.
And the thing i find most frustrating is when the opposition have the possession in their 3rd he’ll foul them, when there is no need.

    Sim-Wilo-Colo-Taiwo
    ———Tiote
    —-Barton-Nolan
    Gervinho—–B.Arfa
    ——–Sturridge?

coolcatcarter89 – Sturridge? I don’t know if he’s the right type of character we need at Newcastle. He came through the reserves and made 11 starts for Man City then asked for £65,000 a week.

if Ranger plays against Man Utd we wont win but he will learn alot from a top class defence. Can only be good for his growth.

@coolcarter, if thats realistic why is sturridge there? after his recent performances no way chelsea will want to lose him. He may compliment Torres

Kalou am sure they would part with tho

I think he should be saved for Blackpool.
Admit it, we’ll probably get beat anyway Ameobi or not and when you have people like Vidic on the field it can get risky adn Blackpool is a bigger game for us.. Plus I would like to see Kuqi get more than ten mins as he put our forwards to shame against villa.

    —Harps—
    Simmo-Wilo-Colo-Bull
    Barton-Guthrie-Tiote-Jonas
    —Ireland—
    —Loven/shola/ranger/Kuqi—

as you can see I have not made my mind up on the strikers.

Purely because there doesn’t seem to be many outstanding candidates, within reason. Kalou, he’s 26, not a CF and another African player, no chance.

The only indication we have, of the calibre of CF we’re looking for, is when AP said “we want someone to come in, who is at the level AC was already.” Or words to that effect. Reason for optimism?

Oh how I long for September 1st.

    Ireland
    Ameobi
If irelands shit, stick on loven.

My uncertainty is Willo or Taylor, not sure who will do a better job against rooney and hernandez ?

I didnt mean Kalou as a striker. Just pointing out he is a good winger and 26 is still young.

I still think Sturridge is now out of our reach. Doyle, Crouch and Rodellega are more likely with Obinna and Vela possible (not as our only strikers but as back up)

I reckon we will play a conservative 4-5-1 to start the game with Shola up front and perhaps Ireland in behind. Tiote will be back to cover the back 4 so hopefully we can keep the score down. 2-0 to them? Wish it weren’t so but they are in great form right now. Probably Berbatov up front for them, and maybe Owen for us to boo at? Give the owner another kick up the rear to remind him to get active in the off season. No more broken promises. Here are 2 rules for Ashley to live by. Rule 1: no lying to the supporters. Rule 2: saying nothing at all is another insult to the people who spend their hard earned money on the team. Be informative and talk to the supporters regularly. What are the chances this man will adopt these rules? Thought so.

nimo…can’t disagree with most of your player assessments. Definitely wouldn’t pursue Ireland let him go back to Villa. That squad just shows how badly we are lacking in depth and quality, we have some serious amounts of deadwood. If Pardew and the owner don’t pull their fingers out in the summer and add some quality we will be relegated.

I agree with you all. we have got a weak squad at Newcastle United. Most of the players just cannot cut it. We are a big club and we need a very good squad like Bolton or Tottenham. If you can see they have got a squad that can dispute The Premier League without be worried with relegation and they aim a European competition as well. We don`t need to spend a lot of money we must bring the right players, not unknown players please. My name is marcos and my twitter account is marcos_nufc_rj. Thanks.
