Two Newcastle Players Face Late Fitness Tests

We knew Shola Ameobi was only 50-50 for the game tonight against Manchester United.

Steve Harper with Joey Barton

But it was news to us last night when Sky Sports reported that Steve Harper will also have a late fitness test on an injured knee. Apparently he had an injection into the knee yesterday,  and that may clear it up.

It’s the first time we’ve heard of Steve Harper even being injured, so we are not sure when this occurred.

If it’s another training ground injury then we are starting to get a little worried with the number of injuries the players are picking up in training.

If Steve cannot make it for this important game, it will be a bit of a blow to the side, but hopefully young Tim Krul can come in,  and have a good game tonight.

If Shola Ameobi fails to make the game, we’re not sure who will deputize, but our best bet is that Shefki Kuqi will finally get a start, and that’s simply because there seems nobody else available.

Nile Ranger did not have the best of games last time out at Villa Park, and he will in all likelihood be used as a second half substitute by Alan Pardew.

It’s an important game tonight, and a defeat will be the 4th defeat in 5 games for the Magpies, so the lads must try to get something out of this game, since Newcastle are not yet safe on 39 points, just 6 points above the drop zone.

    never get 1st…

Hopefully we can keep Rooney and Nani out of the game, it’s damage limitation though until we get players back

We will need Guti and Jose at their best today as Nani and Park are on fire.
They have so much fire power and danger from set plays.
    Where do you start?
Giggs if playing will be tough to keep quiet so R.Tayls shouldn`t start as Joey would be better covering there.

Agree on S.Tayls, but it really was a stupid move from AP changing a good back line.
Our back line and Midfield will have to have Nitro in them today and we will have to create lots of chances to actually score a goal.

We need to have a very good night and Man Utd need to be suffering from a loss hangover.

Hopefully Barton or Tiote will wind up wooney and he will be sent off. Bring on the best England has and let’s see just how good we can be!

Steven Taylor plays without a brain,Which is so annoying when your used to Mike Williamson and Colo being so calm and pressure without fouling.

‘It’s the first time we’ve heard of Steve Harper even being injured’ = Because he didn’t get injured against Everton earlier in the season…

When you mention us only being 6 points of the drop zone, there are a handful off teams on worse off situation who are not looking like they will pick up points any time soon.

Also not to bothered if Harper can’t make the game due to injury, Krul playied really well earlier in the season so no doubt he will step up tonight if he has to!
