Newcastle Injury Jinx Strikes Yet Again

After most of us were surprised that Steve Harper even had an injury at all, and missed the game against the Red Devils, it looks like Steve could be out for the next two weeks.

Danny Guthrie – tussling with Michael Owen on Tuesday night

It appears that Steve Harper may need a small operation on his troublesome knee, and this is what manager Alan Pardew said today:

“Harper isn’t right and we will have to review him over the next couple of weeks.” “It could be that he needs a small operation.”

“He is not necessarily out of the season, and it’s not a major problem, but we will have a look at that and weigh that up over the next couple of weeks.”

There are also reports that midfielder Danny Guthrie could be out for the season, with some foot injury, but there’s scant information about what the injury is, or how he sustained it.

We have to hope it’s not yet another injury picked up on the training ground, but since it’s new news this afternoon, being reported by the local Evening Chronicle, that’s probably where the injury happened.

However, both players will definitely miss the game at Blackpool on Saturday, but of course captain Kevin Nolan will be returning from his two game suspension, for picking up 10 yellow cards on the season.

Tim Krul had a great game on Tuesday night, and will now keep his place in the Newcastle goal, in a game which could see Newcastle absolutely safe in the Premier League,  if they can take all 3 points.

Comments welcome.

Bloody crocks – the lot of them!

It is quite a long list though; HBA, Gosling, Best, Harper, Kadar, LuaLua, Guthrie, Vuckic(?) is a fair chunk.

Steve Bruce keeps complaining about having 6 first team players out, but we have 6 or 7 there. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of suspensions we’ve had.

Guthrie went over during the game and looked hurt, in the first half, so I’d assume it started there? Also, 1st!

Soderberg is ready for the step up according to Beardo. Would love him to get a run out once we are safe. Godddd so many decent YOUNG keepers at the club.

We need to sack our entire physio staff and start afresh. One of the best news I heard regarding Arfa was when he said he was going back to France to let his parent club look after him.

Aren’t our medical staff the same that care for the England U-21s as well?

It is unbelievable the number of players lost to knocks. Certainly have to beleive that there is something in the training techniques or the nature of the training grounds that is contributing. Hopefully the under soil heating will help.

Colo and Jonas seem to cope fine and don’t struggle with injuries. They probably look after their bodies far more stringently, than the British lads. Colo could play ’til he’s 35 at the top level, easily.

I really rate Krul. Close call on who has the shirt next season. I would hate us to lose him in the summer, that performance won’t have gone unnoticed by fergie on tuesday.

Not so worried about the loss of Harps. Krul is more than capable.

So Fat Cash is having a good year…right then, off the wallet son. We need a solid influx of striking talent…sorry Leon, Shola, Nile, Peter…you mob are cover up front at best. LB cover (if Jose stays….please stay) and RB (don’t rate Simmo…stays too far off his man, too often second best in the air) Get these in, and I see a side that can challenge for Europe.

I wouldn’t have been so convinced about Tim Krul.I felt he was a good shot stopper who was poor on the high ball and had a very poor kick out. But having seen him against Manchester United I gotta say i feel reassured. He appears to be learning.Lets hope Nile Ranger has the same effect.Cause right now, I don’t think he’ll ever come to anything but a championship player, at best. How are so many of you so blind to this. But like I say, please prove me wrong Nile.

If you had asked me last week, I would have said TK isn’t ready yet. After the game he against Manyoo, I am forced to have a re-think maybe. Pre season could be very interesting where keepers are concerned.

For the GK position, i dont mind harper injured cos we got excellent backups

Maybe Nolan can play alongside Ameobi and Ireland at CM withTiote?

I think in the Final games Pardew needs to play Krul regardless if harper is injured or not..

The lad is our future goalie and needs to gain more experience.

Do u all not remener the investigation we launched last year into this very matter?

Turns out we are cursed and will have to deal with these types of injuries for awhile more.

On the upside, is it just me or has Colo been our standout performer of the year? Has he missed a game yet? @statboy how many games has Colo missed since hes been here? Quality player!

Guthrie is an unspectacular but puts a shift in, I remember after the West brom game he got roasted , shows good character to come back in and play like he has done
