Tim Krul – A Goalkeeper Of Huge Talent

Tim Krul did himself a lot of good on Tuesday night with an excellent display of goalkeeping.

Tim Krul – he’ll be ready for Blackpool tomorrow

And Alan Pardew has wasted no time at all in letting fans know that he thinks very very highly of the 23 year-old Dutch U21 International, and indeed if Tim does show the same form in the next 5 games of the season he could even get a call-up to the full Dutch side.

The Dutch selectors would have seen his performance against the night of Manchester United, and of course are well aware of the young Newcastle goalkeeper who may one day become Edwin van fer Saar’s successor in the Netherlands side.

Steve Harper will be missing for at least a couple of weeks, as he may have to have an operation on his dodgy knee, but it could also be that Alan takes this opportunity to give Tim a late run in the Newcastle first team.

Pardew told the Evening Chronicle today:

“I expect Tim to be ready.” “He showed that the other night – he’s more than ready.”

“He’s a goalkeeper of huge talent, and next year Tim, Harps and Fraser will be fighting for that jersey.”

“Tim gets an early chance to throw his hat into the ring.” “He’s shown up well in one game, but Blackpool away is a different agenda.”

We mentioned earlier this morning,  that reports linking Newcastle with another senior goalkeeper were just not true, and Alan said this today when asked if he was bringing another goalkeeper to Newcastle:

“Untrue – I don’t intend to bring a keeper in.” “I’ve got nothing more to say on that.”

That will not stop some of the gossip press linking Newcastle with various goalkeepers, and the Daily Mirror is linking Newcastle with Anderlecht Belgium International goalkeeper Silvio Proto, who’s 27.

We wonder if the fact that the story seems completely untrue bothers the Mirror? Probably not.

Tim has so far appeared 29 times for the Newcastle first team, and that number could be 34 by the end of the season, in which he could have played 25 times for the Magpies.

Krul will be our no1 next season I believe.

If we have indeed been watching Anderlecht, it’s to scout Lukaku, no-one else.

He’s already claimed Van der Saar’s shirt and gloves, he wants his caps and mantle next.

As they squawk at Wimbledon ‘ Come on Tim!’

We don`t need another goalkeeper. Newcastle United need one right back, one left back, one central defender, one defensive midfielder, one player to play as a left and right winger, one attacking midfielder or playmaker and one second stiker to assist the centre forward and score goals too. In my opinion Shola Ameobi, Leon Best and Peter Lovenkrands are good centre forwards.

I don’t really get why Forster gets so much praise and attention from us. From what I’ve seen of him (which is quite a lot) he is very hesitant when claiming things, doesn’t have a great kick and is awfully slow getting down for shots. You would expect him to dominate his box because of his size but he is never anywhere near getting to the ball when he does come out. Krul is much the better keeper, although the both share the hesitant about coming about part. IMO Forster will probably end up at a lower prem club or Celtic for the rest of his career but with Krul we have a keeper who could be his country’s number one and could help us returning to where we want to be, top 6/4

Yes Krul is a good keeper but I personally feel that Forster should be our number one. Yes he hasnt played in the EPL yet but hes a 6’7 monster of a keeper just what we need! However to have both of them on our books and battling it out for No.1 next season it will be good. Harps as coach/keeper is required next season.

Fraser Forster really is over rated. From the bits I’ve seen of him at Celtic, he is very slow and struggles to reach into the low corners despite his height. I reckon Krul is a much better keeper to be honest.

davybtoon, Agree with you. I would like to see how long Ireland can play. If he’s knackered after 45 minutes he can always be subbed, but he has to be up to a full match by Chelsea.

i live in scotland so i see a lot of forster and to be honest hes an average keeper. krul has been a lot better and for me is a much better keeper than harper and forster.

Marcos – how the hell have you formed the opinion that peter lovenkrands is a good centre forward? surely anybody that has seem him play this season knows that sadly he has not got the talent to compete in the PL, 10|10 for running about , but imo he needs to be out of the squad next season

I don’t intent to be rude to the SPL but you can’t compare it to the EPL. If Rangers and Celtic had got there wishes a year or two ago to be a part of the EPL I think they would now be part of the Championship (if not lower) Krul is a proven EPL goalie Forster is definitely not. Forster has up to now only been tested in 1st division in England and not much higher in Scotland.

Peter Lovenkrands plays to fool. Shows great effort but hardly ever finishes.

The thing is though GG he isn’t even shining in the SPL. He has stuttered through the season so if he can’t do it for a league potential winning side albeit in a poor league with similar sort of expectations from the fans as ours (fooballing wise, not trophy wise) how will he ever be able to do it for us

Andy, no argument. in fact I thing that’s what I’m saying to. So, after Harper, Krul has to be number 1.

marcos – seriously? I think our strikers are the weakest component of our side by far. We desperately need to add a strong hold up man with some pace, and somebody to play off him. Strolla is nowhere near reliable enough – breaks down all the time. Not convinced by Best but would certainly keep him about. IMO – fullbacks needed and strikers but we are sorted everywhere else.

We needed another striker before Ashley sold Carroll.
Last window was all about Defoe coming in.

I think we need two quality strikers. Two good enough to push Ameobi & Best down to 3&4 in the pecking order.

I think its a good idea to send Krul out on loan. In maybe Championship or the Scottish league as Forster did this season.

Rusbjerg11, it’s just my opinion, but I think Krul out on loan to a Championship or Scottish league team would be a step backwards for him. We should keep him as number 2 or if Harper can’t get fit for next season we should make Krul number 1. Forster should go out on loan to a EPL team. Perfect would be if Norwich come up and he could go back there for a season.

Both of our young GK is just like Given and Haps.

Both have to stay. Who knows Harps may just retired next season because of injury, but i wish him well.

    Take care Harper,

Newcastle really have a nice Gk like you. Every season the only lesses worries department is GK. Because you are always there for us. Thank You.

Even Man Utd (before EDS) or Arsenal have problems in their gk
