It seems that top clubs are queuing up to sign Newcastle United left-back, Jose Enrique, in the summer.
Jose Enrique – in action at Blackpool yesterday
And the latest club to be once again linked with him are German Champions Bayern Munich, who are said to be ready to join Liverpool and AC Milan in the battle to sign Jose Enrique.
There is news this morning that Joey Barton is very likely to sign a three year extension to stay at Newcastle, and Kevin Nolan is also said to be close to signing a new long term deal at Newcastle, but it could be that Jose Enrique will be on his bike in the summer.
Liverpool have been reported to be in the lead position to sign Jose, but if he is to leave Newcastle, then we have to hope there will be an auction for him in the summer, that will push up the transfer fee.
Apparently, Bayern have a £100M transfer kitty for this summer, and have made Enrique one of their priority targets.
Jose has one year left of his contract, which runs out in14 months time, and if he does leave Newcastle will want a big fee for one of their top players.
Apparently, club officials from Bayern were at a packed St James’ Park on Tuesday night, to watch Enrique in Newcastle’s 0-0 draw with league leaders Manchester United.
Alan Pardew is still hopeful that Jose will elect to stay on Tyneside, and sing a new deal, and since Newcastle are now clear of any relegation trouble, then negotiations presumably will start with Newcastle.
But the fact Newcastle have been linked with a number of left backs in the transfer market in recent weeks, suggests that Jose may indeed be on his way in the summer.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41It all started on the blog where Shearer said he made up with Barton. My comment was “Good words Alan” and from there he has just singled me out. Ah well school holidays will be over soon.

I would def have a look at Rodelaga and McCarthy but i believe Whelan hates Ashley with a passion and would not sell to us. Both would improve our team. I would stay clear of Bridge as he would be a typical Sheppard signing, past it and stupid wages.

i’d be very happy with those additions. with ben arfa and gosling coming back its like we’d have new signings anyway.
shola, the guy is so frustrating, it’s like when he’s down the pecking order, he impresses so you have to play him, and then when u think he can shoulder the rresposibility, he goes awol. make up ur mind man!
also, where the hell is vuckic? and if we sign ireland, doesnt that spell the end of his time before it starts?

Toonmania using language like that shows he is not going to win father of the year anytime soon…..
I would like to see Richardson be given a chance in one of the home games, looks pretty good in the reserves.

You are probably right mate, we need a striker to run the channels and cause defences problems with pace, he would be a proven prem striker who is mid 20’s?

Comment #58I am really looking forward to this summer and next season. This is the most exciting transfer window for us in ages. We’re certainly going to sign players and I just hope we sign quality. If we do next season we will be a real force to be reckoned with.

Comment #60JP, 5 or 6 “Tiote” style signings would be great as we don’t really have to spend big all the time and we’ve proved that with the likes of Bassong, Williamson, Arfa and Tiote.
We just need the right deals! Sounds simple lol.

fair point mate and from what I have read you have been very much not reacting to comments but this is a football blog so surely you too can just forget this fighting and talk about football opinions…that way we can all join in the arguments 🙂
@kilcline
I’d like Rodelega to be honest with you. Doyle would be happy with and Ba I’d be very happy with. Dont know why we didnt go for him when his Stoke deal fell through West Ham picked up a gem there. Anyone of them plus a striker like Sow or Gamerio then pick up another older one like Keane and we have depth and strength up front imo

Comment #64Howay man get a grip you fools…..
Jose and cash to get Müller or Gomez from FC Bayern. Are you all real ?!!
Müller won the golden boot at the world cup, and is 21 years old ffs. Gomez has scored 25 goals in the Bundesliga and is wanted by all the top teams in europe.
Of course Bayern will pass these players off to the great NUFC for a unstable left back ? Howay man, I like Jose, but he’s a left back and by far from irreplaceable, youre all dreaming !!! Don’t disrepsect the Bundesliga ….there are a bunch of good teams…and most of them financially sound too…especially FC Bayern….watch them spend there kitty in the close season. 6 million for Jose at the most…if he decides to leave of course…

Comment #66So where do Bayern get £100 mil to spend? I thought to play in Europe you are restricted to a percentage of your income to be spent on players? Have they really made so much to be able to spend this…. if so well done to them.
MacToon
Apr 24, 2011 at 2:13 PM
Comment #67WWJBD, anything nowadays under £10 mil can be classed as a bargain at times and sometimes even higher….. especially for goal scorers, £50 and £35 mil is rediculous amount on a player which would buy total prem squads at some clubs.
One thing this regime has done well is spent well most of the time and the list could go on imo.

I misunderstood you in that case then. If your allowing a decent chunk of money to be spent then Tiote like signing are more likely. (I wrongly assumed you meant more in the region of spending 3-4million per player I apologise)

Comment #71lol np WWJBD it’s all relative I suppose, the problem imo is if we buy to primarily make a profit and that is the wrong thing to do and makes us a selling team. If we buy well and make a profit at the end of the day then fine.

Comment #77I have faith that we will sign players that strenghten the team primarily but they will be young (any young player that strengthens our team will increase their sale price over time)
This is assuming Ashley is going to be around or awhile. Which I personally dont believe. If he sells before the summer then the whole transfer plan could change

Just a line to advise you of nasty unasked for comments on your blog. Please read comments, especially in the article “Bayern Munich Want Newcastle Left Back Jose Enrique”.
This antagonistic rubbish is not what I come here for. Please do something as it is your blog after all. Your own comments policy is being breached after all. As I said, I’m here to read about the greatest club in the world, not crass, offensive postings from one member to another. Tongue in cheek is fine. Offensive attacking is not!!!

It’s vital Ashley stays or at least another “takeover” bid does not materialise to disrupt our transfer dealings. I would like us to get 3 players in before July to give them more of a chance to bed in with the squad. Then we can get 1 or 2 late in the market if required.
I hold Toonboy_84 in the same regard as Peter Reid.

Comment #80I certainly hope he sells but not gonna hold my breath. There are the rumours that we are basically sold now but awaiting prem survival before the deal is 100% made…. oh if only it were true.
I do not expect anything now from Ashley to avoid being disillusioned and disappointed. Anything can happen with him around. I think he’s realised the money making potential of being a selling club but hope I’m wrong because it would mean many more seasons of mediocrity.
