We should first of all say it’s a Sunday today, so there will be some silly reports in the football pages of the Sunday papers.
Kevin Nolan – this lad is going nowhere
And true to form, there’s a good one today, that West Ham want to sign the Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan.
But why would Kevin want to play in the Championship for a second season in the last three?
We’re just joking, honestly, but surely West Ham should be more concerned about securing their Premier League status right now, rather than talking about getting new players in during the summer.
If the Hammers are relegated, they will need to unload some players, and Newcastle have been linked with forward Freddie Sears, who had a good game yesterday.
West Ham looked poor in getting hammered 3-0 at Chelsea late yesterday afternoon, and Fernando Torres finally scored his fist goal for Chelsea, and it seems that the three Ws, West Ham, Wolves and Wigan keep ending up in that bottom three.
West Ham at the moment are rock bottom of the league, and have been in the bottom three most of the season, and are currently two points from safety, and Newcastle did the double over them this season.
They have away games at Manchester City and Wigan, and home games against Blackburn and Sunderland, and they’ll have to start picking up some points if they are to stay up.
And their best player, former Newcastle midfielder Scotty Parker, who rightly picked up the PFA Player of the Season award last week, is currently out injured.
It’s not surprising that teams would be interested in trying to get Nolan, because he’s been in superb form for the last two seasons for Newcastle, but the Tyneside club are close to agreeing a new long term contract with the Liverpudlian, and the hope is that the new contract can be announced fairly soon.
Unfortunately for Newcastle fans, it seems that Kevin Nolan picked up a slight groin strain yesterday at Blackpool.
But as for Kevin Nolan going to West Ham, there’s no chance at all of that happening.
Comments welcome.

Comment #3Only thing I don’t agree with here is Scott Parker being rightly given the Pfa player of year. He’s a good player in a poor team. Bartons been better, nasty for me has been the best by far. Rooney has been class bale modric better Kevin Davies been better to name a few in my opinion

Comment #7He is an excellent captain but as a centre midfield, he does do much of his job
YES he is good in headers and “running from midfield” but his best form this season is if he play behind a tall striker (i.e Carroll and maybe Best) and from setpieces

Comment #10Hey it’s Newcastle united folks, anything is possible!
But to sell Nolan, would ‘be’ like getting rid of Bobby Robson, Chris Hughton or Andy Carroll…..oh wait a minute we did!
Ok I say that tongue in cheek, but nothing surprises me’ anymore in football, albeit I would ‘be’ absolutely furious if we sold in my opinion one of our top 5 players AGAIN!
The Carroll money should prevent us from doing that so soon. Yes Jose is different as I believe his head has been turned, and after sticking with us, I’ll bare him no grudges if the best Newcastle left back I’ve ever seen does move on to pastures new, as unfortunate as it may be

Comment #14I wouldn’t trust those in charge at Newcastle NOT to do this.
Yes, Carroll put in a transfer request and then tried to con the fans he hadn’t.
And remember – Nolan was gushing what a great move THAT was.
The close season is where we will find out if next year is going to be a nightmare for the fans or not.

Comment #15Nolan to West Ham seems unlikely at this moment in time. However let’s not kid ourselves, if West Ham or any other club put in a decent bid in the summer, the FCB will sell Nolan in a flash.

there really is no logic in that statement , if he’s not in the team , our highest goalscorer this season isnt in the team , take away his goals and were in trouble.
we dont play better when he’s not in the squad at all if you look at the statistics ,
