Fringe Liverpool Players Don’t Fit The Bill At Newcastle

There’s been news in the last week or so that Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool plans a big clear out in the summer of some of his many fringe players.

Paul Konchesky – Liverpool fringe player

And Newcastle may be interested in picking up some of the players, maybe.

A reported Anfield source told the Evening Chronicle today:

“There will be a lot of movement at Liverpool this summer.”

“And it’s no secret here that players will be offloaded to make way for new signings.”

“There will be players offered out to numerous Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United.”

There may already be a deal done with Liverpool for left back Jose Enrique, and it may be that Newcastle try to get some of Liverpool’s fringe players in part exchange.

Paul Konchesky is a left back and his name will likely be mentioned in possibly coming the other way in any Enrique deal, but we don’t think he’s good enough for Newcastle,  it’s as simple as that.

Paul is a very decent player and has great experience in the Premier League, and some years ago Bobby Robson was interested in the player when he was a youngster at Charlton Athletic, but at 29 years old he’s not Newcastle’s future.

Another player who may be offered to Newcastle is David N’Gog, the 17 times capped France U21 striker, who joined Liverpool from PSG in 2008.

But again he’s a fringe player at Liverpool, and we think we can do better than this Frenchman in the summer, although he has just one year left on his contract, and could possibly be picked up at a decent price.

And at just 22 years old, David could still improve and he has a decent record at Liverpool,  with 19 goals in 91 appearances for The Reds.

So it seems that Newcastle will have some options with Liverpool players but we don’t think either of the above players will really fit the bill at Newcastle.

And that also includes England International Joe Cole, who will very likely return to some London club in the summer.

Comments welcome.

Couple mill for n’gog why not? hes already scored in EPL and he’s only 22. If babel had held on for another year at anfield i think we shoulda bid for him.

cole and konchesky are old and past it…..nuff said

i’d like to see sow and gervinho in as well as a couple of good freebies like elmander and larsson……i know they’re not every1s cup of tea but they are solid premier league players and although they aren’t world beaters they will improve our squad

Noticed they (Liverpool) have been playing 2 youngsters in defence recently, an 18 and 19 year olds I believe. Strange how some top teams like Man U are quite happy slotting youngsters in but we only seem to do it when we have no other options.

Gonna be a strange summer transfer window imo, there seems to be more and more players running their contracts down at clubs so it means we get them for less but will maybe have to offer more in wages. I think this trend will continue in the future.

Whoever we do get in the summer I just hope they add improvements to our already thin squad. Fingers crossed.

Just seen a list of (someone’s opinion of) the worst 10 buys of the season.
    Konchesky makes the list.
Amazing that none of our buys did.
    Must be a first.

Benton T.E. – one or two “cast offs” mainly up and coming young lads and workhorses he took everywhere with him, and big signings – remember, Trevor Francis was the top dollar signing of his time.

    So – not true.
You buy cast offs, it 95% certain you’re buying dead meat.

Gore Blimey Apples an’ Pears Cole will end up at Spuds or even QPR for next year is my guess.
    Disastrous move for him.
Still hope Carroll will fall flat on his face at Liverpuddle.

So they’d like to trade N’Gog, Kelly, and Spearing for Carrol, Enrique, and Barton.

Hmmm seems like we’d be going backwards..?

Of the three N`Gog would be a maybe.
But there are better players available and having received a hefty wedge for AC, I would expect the club would at least attempt to bring in a decent replacement.

    Mactoon
Unfortunate for them they are short of defenders, having as many unfit players as us.
You are not suggesting they wanted to bring a seventeen year old into the team by choice ?
Have to say though both youngsters (full backs) did`nt embarrass themselves.

Calm down pal, we haven’t signed anybody yet man, never mind LFC’s rejects.

Don’t believe and sweat over everything you read in the papers – or on this blog.

Save your tears until we sign in the summer.

You never know – they might be tears of joy pal.

‘and he has a decent record at Liverpool, with 19 goals in 91 appearances for The Reds’.

ED- Good record!!?? 19 goals in 91 apps!!
    You must be joking!!

We can definitely do better than give Liverpool a hand on taking their dead wood off their books. We already have Guthrie and he’s hardly set the world alight.

What we should do is go abroad and buy good technical players with a physical presence. That is basically it. If we can do that on the cheap and on each position we lack strength/depth in we will have a great next season. Knowing Newcastle and our retarded owner we will probably do the complete opposite and buy the crap that every club in our league wants to get rid of. Bring in the outcasts this summer! I hope i am mistaken.

Sorry to be surprisingly negative but this Ireland blow has really done my head in today. What a season of false dawns, the worst season I’ve experienced (along with the relegation season) and I’ve seen quite a few.

What are we now – Dogleash’s black and white pig? Are we to get the Liverpool scraps until he comes back for a big slice of ham? Howay Ashley and show some ambition this summer.

Something tells me this must be a Daily Mail report? It figures.

Yes, players that can improve the current squad only.

    Ngog is decent signing.
