Nolan To Sign New Deal Next Week – Barton Next?

There’s some good news in the Evening Chronicle today, that captain Kevin Nolan will sign a new deal at Newcastle.

Kevin Nolan – ready to sign new deal at Newcastle

And Nolan has actually told the Chronicle he will sign a new contract with Newcastle “next week or the week after” and that could be the first of a few very important signings for Newcastle,  before the summer transfer season even opens up.

The sooner Kevin signs his deal, the sooner Joey Barton will follow suit, and Joey has already said he will sign a news contract if Kevin signs – and Joey’s deal is said to be a three year extension to his current deal, which runs out in June of next year.

We fully expect Joey to sign his new deal, even though there have been stories linking him with Liverpool over the last few days.

The other signing that may be a bit more difficult for Newcastle is left-back Jose Enrique, but we assume contract negotiations can now start with the 25 year-old, since Newcastle are now safe in the Premier League.

However,  Jose may have already decided to leave Newcastle in the summer, and if that’s the case negotiations may not even be opened for the Spaniard.

And some good news today is that Kevin Nolan is back in training, and should be fit for the game at his home town club, Liverpool, on Sunday.

Alan Pardew has this to say today about about his captain:

“Kevin wants to play.” “We’ve had to protect him this week, as he’s carrying that injury.”

“It has affected him. We want him to play, but he’ll have to be 100%”

We expect Kevin to make the game but we don’t expect Andy Carroll to make the game, since he’s picked up another injury, this time to his his knee, and at best we think he’ll only make the bench on Sunday.

It will be great to have Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton sign new deals at Newcastle, as these two lads are  two of Newcastle’s very best players, and are also leaders at the Tyneside club.

Comments welcome.

It would be good news if both do sign contract extensions but next season I think Nolan will have to fight for a place in the starting 11 more than Barton.

    We need strikers…………

I say we should get a striker on loan from City Adebayor/Caicedo and either RVW/Gamerio/Sow, Gervinho,Ireland a centre back either Bassong/an Italian defencer Criscitio/Astori a Winger Grabel/Larsson Wendt and Ireland

Sturridge may be possible, but the other two…

Adabyor is on around 150k a week. Not going to happen. Bent just signed a 4 and a half year deal. No chance he’s coming here.

When will people on here realise that we will not be making any big signings they will be at the oldest early 20’s and will not be on more than £50k a week. We are a completely different club to Fat Freddie’s days. No more trophy signings buy young & cheap & sell big e.g. Tiote, BenArfa & Gosling I honestly believe these guys will be gone in the next 2-3 years for big money

I’m normally quite realistic but I do feel benzema is a possibility with the reports of our new found pull on french/french based players, Depending on the asking price obviously. Before anyone brings up the supposed falling out with Ben arfa, these things happen all the time in football and players fighting (often over small things) is all part of the game due to the time these players spend with eachother.

Crawfordladd17: You must be having a laugh.. Adebayor is wanted by real madrid, Cristcito would cost 50m just him. (rated one of the best centre halfs out there)

Caicedo would be a good prospect, but unproven.
And for those of you ditching Best, WHY? He’s scored goals in loads!

Defoe would maybe come here if he gets more competition, Kenw Jones is the star striker of Stoke and an ex-mackem. No way if i’d have him!

Lets get real lads.. Gervinho is a long-shot. Liverpool have targeted him, and they probs have first pick. Would love it if he came, but I dont think he will. RVW, Sow, Gameiro. Bring them in! Seb Larsson, get in!

Jose Enrique has gone, there is no way he will be a Newcastle player next year, he’s already began to move out of his Jesmond home. Also I have a friend who is a builder and has been working on Shola’s house and Shola has said that the players have been told that ‘IF THE CLUB IS OFFERED BIG MONEY, ALL PLAYERS WILL BE SOLD’ So expect Enrique and Tiote to leave. Joey Barton is has also began looking at houses’ in the North West so I don’t see him staying much longer, we have a long, hard summer ahead….

I’m sorry, but you’re massive caps locked shocking statement from Shola is just common sense. Only the worlds biggest teams can honestly afford to say a certain player isnt available for any price.

To be honest, if you think about the fat mans previous the fact that hes waiting for big money offers shows improvement on his part.

I dont for a second believe that Tiote or Barton will be going anywhere this summer either.

I do however agree that enrique is probably gone.

If we get £10-£15m for Enrique then I think its a good deal as long as the money along with the Carroll money goes to buying 4-5 good players. 2 strikers, a midfield player & a left back would be the least we should get. With Arfa and Gosling & if Nolan & Barton sign long term contracts I think we will have a decent next season.

We’ve just signed Tiote onto a 6 year contract. There is absolutely no reason to sell him this season. You might say we’ll get aload of money and the fat man wouldnt turn that down.

But we dont have to sell him for the next 4 or so years, his value is just going to keep going up over the next few years. Surely even the fat man would be able to see that.

Can see him selling Barton, Tiote, Bull if the price is right for him and replacing them with unknowns that he’s been told have potential. The only way we will be in Europe in 2012 is if there’s a war!!

Nolan will be an impact sub next season, last 30 mins when the game has reduced to his pace. The best impact sub in the league, could still easily pinch 8-10 goals in that role, injuries permitting.

Joey will be partnered in CM with Tiote. Playing his more natural, tenacious, supporting, box-to-box style.

Jose will leave for £12-15m. Great price, considering to my eyes, he has made a similar amount of individual errors as Simpson. I’d buy Gibbs (if he isn’t going to get 1st team football at Arsenal), Van Aanholt and still have change.

The length of contract doesn’t matter, Ashley’s greedy for short term cash.

If they get an offer of around 15million for Tiote, he’s gone.

Im sorry Geoff but that is massively poor logic. Tiote has been one of the signings of the season and everyone has started raving about his potential. If hes worth £15m this summer, in two years time if he carrys on his form he’ll be worth at least £30m.

Even though his wages went up when he signed his new contract he’s still not on massively high wages.

I honestly can’t imagine that even the fat man could be so short sighted and sell him this summer.

Agree with Carter – you dont build a team around your LB. If its a toss up between Jose, Cheik and Joey it has to be Jose everytime.

Personally i dont think anything is done and dusted. A strong finish could turn a few heads and i can see him signing a new deal.

Thing is lads is the fat man is greed from head to toe, any offer that sounds appealing he will except, contracts these days are meaningless, AC signed a new contract, couple months later he was gone, to me its seems like it was a planned transfer. as for signings can’t see any world class players joining the toon, this will be a money making operation that MA has conjured up as in previous posts sign young sell big, we’ll be looking at freebies in the summer, I can already see what will happen 10mil will be used and the excuse for the rest of the money not being spent will be because they will tell us that there were no other players that fit the bill, or would benefit us.

geoff777 – So what? If Spurs are offered £30m for Bale, he’s gone. If Everton are offered £12m for Baines, he’s gone. If Man Utd are offered £30m for Vidic, he’s gone. If Arsenal are offered £20m for Van Persie, he’s gone. Every player has a price, Tiote’s is probably more £20-25m, all things considered (contract remaining, importance to team, demand etc).

The only clubs immune to this maxim in world football, are probably Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

I think a lot of fans have some real misconceptions.

First off i’m no Ashley fan and the quicker we get rid the better. However, people need to take a bit of a reality check. There is no Tottenham cockney mafia conspiracy. He is not a secret Sunderland fan and his not standing to make millions buy selling off all our best players.

When it comes to the AC affair i’m the most bitter fan about losing him but in my mind MA had a realistic price and Liverpool blew that out of the window by offering £10m+ over that. He turned it down but the greedy sh1t wanted more so he called his bluff.

I don’t like or trust MA but even i believe that he can’t be that stupid to sell off our best assets at the first flutter of an open cheque book. Tiote is going to be worth around £30m+ in a season or two selling him this summer doesn’t make any sense.

OK let me start off by saying that I am not a fan of Mike Ashley. He’s made some really, really, REALLY bad decisions over his time here.

The amount of money that the club owes him is just enormous. Most of it didn’t have anything to do with him. It was Shepherd the idiot’s doing. And don’t use the “he can afford it” song and dance… he can, but he didn’t really have to. We could have easily done a Pompey and ended up destined for league 1. I get the feeling that people here want that. To have the club spend a ridiculous amount of money on the credit card, win an FA cup and never be seen again for 30 years.

Now we have wages and expenses under control and some transfer money available, there’s no excuse to sell all our players. No excuse not to buy good footballers. If they don’t do it now, they’ve burned a bridge and I’ll never respect them. But you can’t just say “they sold everyone in the past”, ignore that the club is up to its eyeballs in debt, and expect that to be an accurate predictor of what happens in this transfer window.

coolcatcarter89 – spot on, couldn’t have put it better myself.

The way some talk you’d think no other club but NUFC would sell a player for big money and that MA is a greedy fat B for even thinking about it. What a load of boll%x.

I’ve said more than once on here that the only players sold in MA’s time who were any good (apart from the ship jumpers after we got relegated) were Milner, N’Zogbia, Given and Carroll. Out of those four Milner, arguably, was the only one who wasn’t desperate to leave and we got £12M for him.

And YES Carroll WAS desperate to leave – for the £80K a week that LFC were offering. So desperate was MA to keep him though that he turned down £15M, £20M, £25M and then £30M until LFC coughed up £35M for a player with 17 Premiership games. MA a greedy fat B? A smart cookie if you ask me.

It is absolute nonsense that we are a ‘feeder club’ or that Ashley is a ‘fat greedy B’ who flogs players for anything he can get. It is cr%p not even worth reading from the bigoted minds of thicko’s.
