Alan Pardew has come out today and said he thinks the reason the Liverpool Newcastle game was rescheduled for the top 4pm Sunday game is that they were hoping to embarrass Newcastle.
Andy Carroll – Liverpool center forward
Pardew says he thinks Sky Sports were hoping Newcastle would be in relegation trouble and that Andy Carroll could help embarrass the club.
We never though of it that way. other then it’s the first time toe local striker will play against his former club, but Pardew seems convinced it was all the embarrass Newcastle United.
Sounds to us too much like one of those conspiracy theories that people keep thinking up, which are always rather hard to believe.
Anyway, this is that Pardew told the local Newcastle press corps today:
“You could argue this game was scheduled for live broadcast so that it would be an embarrassment for us, with Andy Carroll playing for Liverpool and us not being safe.”
“We are safe, but having said that we are still as eager as ever to play the game.” “There is still a lot to play for in these last four games for us.”
“Maybe we did not deserve to win at Blackpool, but we still could have.” “We had one or two good chances in or around their box, but we did not take them.”
“That is something we are always looking to improve.”
What Alan is saying is kind of hard to believe, at least in our eyes, but hopefully he can use it to inspire his Newcastle players.
If the lads play with the spirit and guts they displayed against Manchester United last week, they could even get a draw, and that would a very good result for Newcastle on Sunday.

Comment #1Is this bloke for real or what? Sky moved the game because this is traditionally a big fixture that provides an entertaining match, no other reason. Idiot.

Comment #4Brutooon – where are you?
I’ve just read you heaping all sorts of praise on Harper – according to you the dictionary definition of loyal. And yet shola – who has been with us for all this time is spoken of in pretty foul terms.
Our current top striker,, ok yes an area seriously in need of addressing in the summer, and recently played with a serious facial fracture. This season alone he has helped us gain valuable points in a difficult season. All you can come up with is ‘lazy’, because of his style. Sigh.
Your hatred of one of your own reflects very badly on you – just so you know.

Comment #12Whenever, or by whomever it was moved, it was moved because they all want to see another 4-3 out and out attacking football match, not because we sold them a striker. It would have been shifted in the hope that another classic match is played.

Comment #16@ andy, I think it was 93, Bruce Grobbelar was in the nets if memory serves, and it came out a bit later that he had taken bungs for letting goals in that season? I think we also got a result there in a cup game? Bout 94/95 I think.

Comment #18pardew is doing a mourinho…taking focus away from the players and onto the manager…..tactical ..hes a genius …
he does the same talking bout the blackpool game…everyone could see we were absolute rubbish, but instead he defends them, tiredness etc.
good management in my very humble opinion.

Comment #19Another pathetic attempt from Pardwho to make himself look good as if to say well because of me we’re not going down. Absolute egomaniacal, narcisistic loser. Win something with someone other than getting them relegated for a change. Actions speak louder than words of which pardwho has way too many.

I agree. This is good management, he is getting the players motivated by making them think the world is against them. Something Alex Ferguson does very well.

Comment #26Pardew isn’t being daft, this is just a classic coaching tactic; take the pressure off the team by focusing it on the manager, and setup an ‘us vs the world’ narrative. Might seem silly but it’s one of the best ways to mentally prepare yourself for a tough opponent.

Comment #28Just some stats (this season)
Shola Ameobi – 24 Appearance and ONLY 5 goals
Leon Best – 10 Appearance and 6 goals
Notice the difference? Leon Best never play at the Premierleague…..and Ameobi most apperances are from the 1st min

Comment #29Does this guy (pardew) ever shut up ?
He chunders away on any and every subject.
If you did`nt realise when he arrived here ,that he was a fool, then he has certainly done his best to make it obvious since.
Clearly a case of bullshit baffles brains.

Comment #30if we lose the match(well any match) he blame it on “injuries” and “fatigue”
We are one of the team that play less games compare to other team (since we are knock out of both cups early)

Comment #37Not sure if you can say Ter wattt on this board but Pardwho is a prime one of that there is no doubt.
Why ?
1. We’re not safe
2. TV chooses the games but we get paid for being live on TV so get a life and get used to it.
3. As for “Maybe we did not deserve to win at Blackpool, but we still could have.” Please rearrange this well known phrase or saying Pardwho. “Fairies You must away with the be”
