Mike Ashley Has Final Say On Newcastle Transfers

Alan Pardew has given quite a few interviews today, and in one of them he talks about the upcoming summer transfer window.

Mike Ashley – will have final say on all transfers

It’s obvious that one of the major priorities at Newcastle in the summer is to bring in at least one top striker to replace Andy Carroll, who left his home town club in January for pastures anew.

And from what we can tell,  the Newcastle scouting staff under Chief Scout Graham Carr,  have done a lot of work this year in tracking down potential Newcastle transfer targets, and the transfer list will now be complete.

The only job now is to bring them into the Newcastle club , and of course that’s  never particularly easy.

Pardew said today:

“Our pool of strikers needs boosting – there is no doubt about that.” “That will be high on the agenda.”“You go about it like you do any other time, there’s always a situation where a club needs a new striker.”

“You just find the best possible striker for your football club and that’s what we’ll do.” “I don’t want to talk too much because we have four games left.”

“The players here have been brilliant, so I’m concentrating on them at the moment.” “Derek Llambias and our scouting team are concentrating on bringing players in.”

“Getting signings over the line is one of the toughest parts of the game.” “We want to be convincing players that the future is bright here, which I think it is.”

“Attracting players should not be a problem.” “Hopefully the financial side of it we can find. We’re competing against Champions League sides and foreign teams and it won’t be done quickly.”

“But hopefully they will be done.” “Myself and Derek are under the guidance of Mike. He is the owner of the club and he says yes or no.” “We’d like to think we can bring a few very good players here.”

We suppose it’s not that surprising that the owner has the last say on all transfers, and Alan Pardew and Derek LLambias will have to present their case to Mike Ashley for each player.

We also expect it could take a little time to get going once the season ends, and of course most transfers occur in August, and late August at that.

However we would hope that Newcastle can get one or two free transfers into the club, quite early after the season ends.

We are still hoping that as many as six new players are drafted into the club, because we need to increase the size, as well as the quality of the squad.

Comments welcome.

FFs is it just me or does anyone know where they stand? he talks so much shit a can’t keep up with the contradictions and lies, now he is basicly saying we won’t be able to afford decent players and it’s not his fault because its mike who gets the final say. What a complete nacka.

Would like to see, Larson come in on a free and bothroyd from Cardiff wouldn’t be a bad free transfer, he could act as cover for hopefully two better strikers that will come in.

Of course he has final say he is the owner. Why are people so shocked by this ‘revelation’?

Also we dont have the questions asked only Pardews answers. Kuqi was a free target that we needed and those ‘budget’ signings thus far have been Tiote, Ben Afra, Simpson, Gosling and Williamson and other squad players.

I like the look of that list, Would love it if lille continue there form and don’t win the league, might make sow consider leaving a bit more. Also it would be interseting to see demba ba or rodellega playing in a better team, Like the Toon, instead of west ham or wigan where the creativity is minimal.

Also, Pardew definitely didn’t say it today, as I read it yesterday :/

When I buy out I don’t listen to the wife opinion so I don’t have a problem with Ashley wanting to spend his money. And he seems to have confidence in Graham Carr, and Graham Carr reports directly to Ashley. Pardew will have no say who we get, the modern game its not possible for any manager to run the club. this is not meant as a dig at Pardew I would feel the same no matter the manager.

We had old Kufqi for a few weeks. He’ll probably only have cost us 50grand by the end of the season but lets face it that has been a waste of money. We could have had airey or ranger on at any stage for the ten mins he has had

FCB is only looking at a budget of £20 mill for players with the other £15 mill going towards wages, fees etc!!

NUFC Romania – how many on your list will we get for a net spend of £20 million, bearing in mind all the other positions we need to cover?

I think the fans are being set up for the same scene as at the end of the last 4 or 5 windows – “Sorry fans, we tried our best for 8 weeks but we couldn’t get any of our main targets at prices we could afford”!

Then we will sign a few “Kookies” and unknowns that FCB has been told have “Potential” in the last few days of the summer window. Its a frightening situation and I really hope I’m so wrong, but I wouldn’t trust FCB as far as I could throw him when it comes to transfer spending!!

Is this really news to anybody?? seriously??

At best i would imagine that 20m was the max we were going to spend, if thats our budget i would think the actual figure we do spend will be in or around the 15m mark. Is this surprising? in a word no, what will we get? maybe 4 players for fees and anything else will be free. On a seperate not does anybody think ruud van nistelrooy would do a job for a season? a total poacher and if the rumors are to be believed a 4-2-3-1 will be played next season which i think could suit him very well (if he cam on decent wages/performance related)

    XMind@
Lacina just left Cluj so he wont leave his new club, would of been a great signing i called for him and Ba in January but ofcourse we were more interested in selling/loaning out.

    nufc.romania@

Abel Hernandez from palermo (Not a hope in hell)

Moussa Sow from lille (Maybe but isnt a consistant scorer got released this shows you that he may be a 1 season wonder and expensive)

Demba Ba if west ham goes down (Called for him in Jan love this guy would 100000000000% love to see him in our shirt, lovely skill scores goal is a handfull.)

Hugo Rodallega if wigan goes down (Arsenal and other like Spurs would join the hunt and we would lose out to them)

Lukas Podolski from koln (Arsenal and other like Spurs would join the hunt and we would lose out to them)

Kévin Gameiro from lorient (Wants La Liga move and too expensive for the board i reckon, although a very good player)

Youssef El-Arabi from caen (you could add relegated as they are near it! a brillient player scores tones of goals a winger/striker a defo buy 4 me)

Park Chu-Young from as monaco (Monaco are near relegation too and would be a good investment to build our name too plus he is a good player)

Sloan Privat from sochaux (Looks decent but not good enough for us with other menthioned)

Sebastián Ribas from dijon (Scores alot and is an alrounder, strong and quick-ish could be a cheap buy which i feel is a priority for the board)

Nicolao Dumitru from napoli (Decent prospect but hasnt set anything alive yet needs time to adjust and wouldnt work out i rekcon much like that other Itallian guy we bought!)

Dentinho from corinthians (good but not great never seen anything amazing out of him yet, plus expensive would prefer Cruziero’s “Wallyson” who in the Copa has 7 goals in 7 games and is the same age and would be ALOT cheaper)

Georginio Wijnaldum from feyernoord (A player who could attrack big clubs if he wants to leave not sure if we could win the race but a good player more winger than striker tho.
    ——————————-

    My Picks would be:

Ante Vukusic – 19 and captain of Croatian team Hadjuk split, quick and skillfull and has 14 goals in 23 games.

Wallyson – 7 goals 7 games in Copa for Cruziero

Jelle Vossen – 17 goals this season at Genk

Seydou Doumbia – A beast and born poacher/finisher and Ivorian = strong and quick.

Burak Yilmaz – 15 Goals call up for Turkey very quick and lethal finisher.

Denis Stracqualursi – 23 but Argentinian so would settle with Colo and Jonas at the club, typical Old Fashioned striker, a relative unknown from Tigre but has 11 goals in 19 games (Apartura) and 8 goals in 10 in (Clausura)

Deni Alar – 21 and like 13/15 goals very unknown could be very very cheap, Austrian and has great strenght & pace.

Tim Matavz – great player, NO DEAL in place with Napoli as of yet good height and ariel ability which suits us.

its who we get in not the cost if he gets the players we need for £6m I don’t care, but on the other hand I don’t care if its £66m. when he purchased the club he took on a responsibility not for a business but the most important part of a city’s heritage, but weather he sells or stays the club will be hear, when you take on something as important as nufc don’t moan about the cost, its a case of man who would be king (if they can deliver). I had Ashley money I could bring success, and give him 2/3rds of his money back.

Talk of “adding to our pool of strikers” is ridiculous – we don’t have a pool.
Amoeobi, Kuqi, Best and Xisco shouldn’t be here and Lovenkrands is a backup at best.
Three strikers out and three in is the LEAST we should expect.
Midfield is OK when everyone is fit (and not getting suspensions).
Van Aanholt for the seemingly departing Enrique with a decent (not madly expensive)back up pair of full backs and we should start in reasonably confident mood next season.
With £50mill+ for the sales of Carroll,Jose and current ‘strikers’, (I use the term loosely), this shouldn’t be a problem – at least for an owner who really wants to take his club on to the next level.
But there again we ARE talking Ashley here.

Maybe I’m being cynical but how much of those players do you actually watch reguarly? A transfer policy buying relatively unknown young players from weaker divisions from around the world would be pretty risky. I hope this isn’t a football manager influenced list?! As a toon fan who lives in Argentina I would be hesitant to spend any decent amount of money on Stracqualursi. Yes he has been scoring goals this season but the Argentine Primera Division is not the greatest standard, particularly the goal keeping and defending!

Wishful thinking I suspect there, Astoria…….expectations have been lowered so much…..it’s like taking chocolate from a baby around the Toon these days and MA knows he can make as many arbitrary decisions as he likes and still convince a load of people he has an interest in building a team worthy of the city……it would take a grossly inflated offer for the maggot to sell now…..the masterplan is apparently to defy the history books and build a successful team on the pitch without signifcant investment and capital outlay……now who would buy into that I ask you?

We can only hope that this apparent denial of a hatful of wonga is for the benefit of the selling clubs so we don’t get ripped off by the first club we look to buy from.

Lets face it, if this wasn’t Ashley with his history of being a tightwad, it would be a sensible ruse to send Pardew out front humming and hawwing over whether he’ll get any dosh or not.

But if this is the genuine article and we are going to get no top new strikers (we needed at least another one before Carroll was sold), we may as well all assume the foetal position throughout next season because we’re gonna crash.
As for Llambias, I think he thought they were talking about STREAKERS.

Unfortunately I don’t see any chance of Ashley leaving and releasing the club soon, at least for the next 5 years.

This bloke knows business well and he just started to turn Newcastle United into his personal goldmine, by selling some of our top players, getting rid of some of the good players with high wages, bring a few players in in cheap and make the fans believe that he has the will to build the club.

I don’t see by any chance we will have 40 millions (Carroll sales + players sold in the past + tons of empty promises in the past) to spend in the coming transfer window, afterall he is Mike Ashley.

All I can hope is 2 things, good players to stay in the club

Well I’ve read half of the post here & got bored with the same rubbish being spouted, really some of you seriously need to get a grip & the rest need to wake the frak up & listen to yourselves because you’re talking a complete load of nonesense…..

    1) We currently have £35m (thats without anything we may get for other players leaving) that is £20m to pay ofr players & £15m for wages & agents fee’s!!

    2) We don’t have anyother money from previous players sales as 1 idiot thinks, all the monies for Given, Martins, Basson, etc etc has been received & used to pay off the loses the club has made over the past 2-3 seasons, remember the £37.5m loss back in 09!!!

    3) Yes Ashley has the final say, same as Abramovich, Glaziers, Kroenke etc etc.. it’s nothing new & will never change, get use to it!!

    4) If Ashley doesn’t have a clue how to run a business, how come he’s a BILLIONAIRE & we’re not… figure that one out!!

    5) Players like Kuqi & Campbell are on small wages & will be released during the summer, players like Xisco, Routy etc will be sold or released, players like Shola, Loverboy, Perch, Raylor etc will be kept as squad players & their contracts run down or sold….

    6) Stop dreaming about who we may or may not get in to replace Carroll, nice list but as someone else said, all untested in the EPL, you don’t want us spending £13m ona striker like Gyan & then finging he can’t play on his own, complete waste of money & look what it did to the muckems!!

    7) Stop believing everything you read in blog, crap-loids, websites etc etc…. it’ll give your ulcers!!!

    8) we have what we have & no matter how much you complain about it, there’s nowt you can do about it…. you won’t be happy unless you ran the club yourself but even then, you’d probably moan at the fans for not liking the way you ran the club, so it’s catch 22, murplys law… get use to it!!!
