Newcastle Unchanged At Liverpool – Carroll A Sub

As widely expected, Newcastle field an unchanged side from the one that got a point at Blackpool last week.

Of course this game at Anfield is likely to be a lot tougher than the Blackpool game last weekend, and Newcastle will need to be somewhere near their best to get a point today.

Tim Krul continues in goal, with Steve Harper on the bench despite being declared fit following his knee injury, and Tim now has a chance to become number one goalkeeper at Newcastle.

It’s good news that captain Kevin Nolan is OK and keeps his place in the side against his home-town club, despite picking up a knock last Saturday.

On the bench highly regarded teenager Shane Ferguson replaces Stephen Ireland, with the Irish midfielder now back at Villa Park, after sustaining an injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season.

Andy Carroll is on the subs bench for Liverpool, and Glen Johnson returns to the starting line-up, but Andy may still be injured and may not get onto the field.

This is a very tough game for our boys,  and we’d be happy with a point.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Flanagan, Carragher (c), Skrtel, Lucas, Spearing, Maxi, Meireles, Kuyt, Suarez
Subs: Gulacsi, Kyrgiakos, Robinson, Shelvey, Cole, Ngog, Carroll

Newcastle: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Enrique, Joey Barton, Tiote, Nolan (c), Gutierrez, Ameobi, Lovenkrands
Subs: Harper, Perch, Taylor (S), Taylor (R), Ferguson, Ranger, Kuqi

Just heard Keegan spouting rubbish about Tiote leaving and Ashley making us a selling club.

Keegan is a legend – but also a bitter twisted sh%t when he talks about the Toon now.

Simply the Best. Would be great having in the team now.

    @bills-son

… I think Keegan might be commenting with (mayhaps multiple profiles) on this blog as well then! 😛

    I kid, I kid. 🙂

Completely agree on the keegan thing mate. Doom Mongering. I know he was shafted by Ashley but he is being paid by Espn to be impartial, something he clearly ain’t doing. Twisted old fart.

I said on .org the other day that I’d be happier with Carroll on the pitch – without him they play a nice, low passing game. With him it’s route 1 all the way. Hit and hope tactics.

Really not expecting much today. Anything but a loss will be a good result in my book.

Keegan needs to remember some of the sales he made (Cole, Ferdinand). If Newcastle is a selling club, he certainly didn’t do it many favours.

They will do it now! They always do on my FIFA 11 careers, we always replace him with Samba.

I hope we capitalize on their youngster in the back4, I don’t know if he is right or left but I hope we get him done.

Long ball from Krul, slow execution. Ball going nowhere, everybody up waiting, loose the ball, counter attack….
