Gutierrez – We Must Cut Out The Defensive Mistakes

Jonas Gutierrez was easily our Man of the Match on Sunday at Anfield with 74% of the vote.

Jonas Gutierrez – outstanding at Liverpool

Jonas is in good form right now, and provided the only threat up front on Sunday, but it just wasn’t enough against a far superior Liverpool side, who have become very strong again under the short reign of  Liverpool idol Kenny Dalglish.

Kenny’s quickly instilled that Liverpool passion into his players,  and they look very good at the moment, and should do much much better next season, that;s for sure.

Gutierrez was giving 19 year old left back Flanagan such a hard time of it on Sunday, that Kenny Dalglish had to switch full-backs and put the more experienced Glen Johnson up against the Argentine International.

Newcastle were basically undone by their own errors though, and captain Kevin Nolan called them schoolboy errors yesterday, is his dismal account of the poor Newcastle performance, which he even seemed embarrassed about.

But Jonas is now looking only to the next game it seems, as he said this yesterday:

“When the team loses I’m disappointed – I’m not happy,” “We can’t do anything now. We have to think about the things we did wrong and don’t do them in the future.”

“We have to think about that. We have three games left, and we have a big opportunity to take points, because we have two games at home.”

“We now have Birmingham, and we have to be strong, and not repeat the mistakes that we made.”

Gutierrez is in form and we mustn’t forget that in the 2-0 win at Birmingham in mid February, the Argentine set up both goals for Peter Lovenkrands after just a couple of minutes, and then Leon Best early in the second half.

It was a  very good display away from home by the Magpies that night.

Newcastle fans want to see those silly defensive errors cut out in the next game on Saturday, when Birmingham come to Toon, and a win would be exactly what the Doctor ordered.

That’s what we are hoping for,  and all 3 points on Saturday and we’ll be just delighted – it’s as simple as that.

Howay The Lads!!

nothing up front holding the ball up… loosing the ball putting massive pressure on the defence = asking for trouble!

Barton has been bloody hopeless recently, ever since he opened his poisonous trap, Guti has been playing really well and he will start next season i hope, try and fit him and Afra in the team and we finally have some flair and charisma, now for someone that can finish??? because lovenpants and ameobi cant finish their dinner!!

Willy needs to be dropped, to many mistakes and these are no coincidence same sort of thing all the time, infact he probably could of given more penalties away but got away with it, certainly gave one away at blackpool that wasnt given, i really think he and simpson ar liabilities nice lads and all that but not prem class, barton for me gave one of the most wasteful displays of dead ball taking i have seen for a long time, they were so bad you would think he was doing them on purpose, pardew needs some balls and needs to give certain youngins more playing time ie ferguson and tavernier, ranger has really dissopointed me and as of yet not improved from the first time i saw him, young vucic is he still injured?????? its comical the injuries that are picked up at the toon off the field of play, and ben arfas is the only serious one i can remember that we actually saw!!!! jose`s heart is not in it like it was last season and if he wants the money then go i would not stand in his way if he has got that mindset but his value is going down beacuse his displays of late are so inconsistant, up front get bendtner from arsenal no weaknesses and if he was played all the time would be a great asset for us 1 million miles better than shola aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhh

We tend to make more defensive errors at home than we do away due to the tension that’s often floating around St James’s f things aren’t going great early on.

For evidence of this you just have to look to this seasons poor form at home and some games, especially early on, where we were completely outplayed by very poor teams after a couple of woeful pieces of defending.

I’d take a draw against the Brum.

defensive error been at the club SINCE late SIR BOBBY ROBSON still manage the club. But during that time, our strikers are scoring more than our defensive mistakes

we’ve never been a defencive team. attacking’s what were best at (even though our attack sucks at the moment) i just hope that we have a good summer and get the right players at the right price. this is our chance to atleast create a stable squad, weather big mike lets us take it is another matter. TOON!!
