Is Jose Enrique Planning To Stay At Newcastle?

4:00 pm, Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011 by Ed Harrison · 160 Comments

Jose Enrique has been saying some very good things about Newcastle and the famous Geordie fans today.

Jose Enrique - is the Spanish U21 International planning to stay on Tyneside?

Jose says the Newcastle fans love football even more than life, and he even seems happy, in fact he seems very happy at Newcastle United.

But we don’t know if this is a prelude to him leaving Newcastle, or whether he’s starting to decide he should stay on Tyneside, which of course we hope he does – we really hope he does because if would be a huge coup for the club to keep Jose on Tyneside.

Let’s make no mistake about that.

Here’s the interview he gave to the BBC today – and you can make up your own mind.

Please vote and and let us know, given this interview, if you think Jose is planning to stay around at Newcastle, and to be quite truthful we’re not at all sure.

Do You Think Jose Enrique Is Planning To Stay At Newcastle?

Puncheon, Gradel, Boothroyd etc etc etc

Going to be a great summer spending spree lads…. If we don’t beat Birmingham and West Brom then Pardwho can go F@ck himself i knew he was gash from the start and it just gets worse

    Depressed

  • 2 Bell // May 3, 2011 at 4:08 PM

i really hope that jose stays. he is a outstanding LB who could get into alot of the best teams around. im still a bit doubtful of jose staying, and if he does go then i wish him good luck for both club and country.
    WE LOVE YOU JOSE!!!

  • 3 CT // May 3, 2011 at 4:08 PM

If L`pool or Inter offer him m0re than £50k a week he`ll be off. Like Judas did, plus it`s obvious Ashley won`t brake the wage ceiling for any player. Quite right too or there`ll be a queue expecting the same and we`ll be back where we started, in the mire. Players should have a basic and performance related bonuses as should the manager and coaches. We might just see a little more effort!!

  • 4 Nolan96 // May 3, 2011 at 4:16 PM

I totally agree with you CT.

  • 5 awc88 // May 3, 2011 at 4:17 PM

Lets be honest all the signs are hes is going, and who can really blame him, we saw signs of improvement this season and they sacked the manager sold our best player and despite the fact the say they will re invest and do this and that we have heard all this before part of their “exercises in public realations” good luck to him. tiote will in all likleyhood follow, barton wont sign his new contract withier because players want to play where they can achieve, thats not newcastle anymore.

Ashleyt want us run like his shops cheap with no qaulity inside, and eveything on sale all year round

  • 6 NorseToonBrann // May 3, 2011 at 4:32 PM

there is no way in hell he’s staying

  • 7 Benton Toon Exile // May 3, 2011 at 4:35 PM

Guys. Enrique will stay if they want him.
Remember he lives in Newcastle, his family is settled in the area too!

The decision is with Ashley, so if Enrique leaves, the club have sold him to raise cash, simple as that!!

  • 8 GeordieGerman // May 3, 2011 at 4:35 PM

I think he’s screaming out that he wants to stay and throwing down the gauntlet for Ashley. Then again I’m an optimist, although I’ve struggled the last 3 years.

  • 9 chuck // May 3, 2011 at 4:37 PM

The guy might stay now he `s aware of those big names we are about to sign.
Gradel, Snodgrass, Wanyama and Puncheon !

  • 10 craig bell // May 3, 2011 at 4:37 PM

he seems like hes willing to stay but with ashley more than likely wanting more money hel probably sell him. Hope he stays tho!!!

  • 11 Monument Mal // May 3, 2011 at 4:39 PM

If Enrique is staying, why are we checking out every left back in Europe?……He’s off!

  • 12 Markaccus // May 3, 2011 at 4:40 PM

It’s a nice interview, especially as he took the time to have a sly dig at Viduka and Owen. It shows that he understands what fans and clubs need from thier players. I think there is a small chance he might stay now.

  • 13 Graeme // May 3, 2011 at 4:43 PM

NO player is safe at NUFC. If an offer comes in, that matches FCB’s valuation of that player, or beats it, the player is sold – its as simple as that.

As long as FCB is making money and the club doesn’t fall apart, he’s as happy as a pig in shit!! It makes no difference to him at all.

European ambition doesnt exist – unless it happens despite FCB’s antics in transfer market! This summer will really show us just what he intends for the club!!

  • 14 JAMSHA // May 3, 2011 at 4:43 PM

He wl stay for sure. If v get sum good player, he wl stay wit us.

  • 15 marcos_nufc // May 3, 2011 at 4:45 PM

Let`s be honest. They are all average players. Tiote, Barton, Kevin Nolan, Gutierrez, Shola Ameobi, Coloccini, etc. Enrique is one of them. He is a very average player. Although, I believe they all do their best and sometimes they play well(especially against teams that are bellow us on the table). Take the match against Liverpool for example. The players couldn`t cross a ball properly, not to mention the set pieces. How many opportunities did the team create to score a goal? actually one with Barton near the end of the first time.In my opinion we should sell Enrique and get more money to spend in the next transfer window, we could have got approximately 45 million pounds, and if we could sell 3 more players we could have got more than 50 million pounds, wich in my opinion is a very good amount of money to spend in the transfer window. We need at least 6 new players that are keen to play at Newcastle United. If Shane Ferguson get more matches he will play like Enrique or even better.
    @marcos_nufc_rj

  • 16 JAMSHA // May 3, 2011 at 4:46 PM

Atleast viduka was much beta dan stroll who keeps strolng around da park. Lazzy ass.

  • 17 Doctapaul // May 3, 2011 at 4:48 PM

This is the same rhetoric we’ve heard time and again.
    “I’m happy…” “if I have to….”

The lad wants to play at Newcastle – maybe, maybe not.

Fact – he’s as good as Ashley Cole and everybody knows that. He will get sky high wages elsewhere in a year’s time.

Bottom line, if Newcastle aspire to get say into the top 6, we need a backbone of top class players being paid market rates. it’s nonsensical joping we can get half a dozen players at say £3.5 like Cheik Tiote. And even if we did… we’d have to up there wages to keep them. there is gulf between the top 6 and the rest of the PL.

Where do you want to put us Mr A? Up there with them or with the also rans?

If you want to compete at the top – sign Enrique on a 6.5 yr contract like Cheik on wages reflect his status.

  • 18 JAMSHA // May 3, 2011 at 4:50 PM

    Strolla*

  • 19 GeordieGerman // May 3, 2011 at 4:51 PM

Why do people keep thinking that Shane Ferguson is a left back?

  • 20 MacToon // May 3, 2011 at 4:54 PM

So with Carroll gone and Jose soon to follow and some of the names mentioned as possible signings…… Is Ashley preparing for life in the Championship again because he and Pardew could quite easily take us back there.

  • 21 Billy1985 // May 3, 2011 at 5:04 PM

people go on about carroll leaving but he left injured so he wouldnt have played in most of our games really since he left he has only played in 3 or 4 for liverpool plus he has only proved to hit the goals this season next season he might not score as many. and before anyone says owt the championship goals only came cause its a lower league i dont miss carroll at all. as soon as someone starts to bang them in no one will mention carroll i say 35 million for him is a total joke but hey its the clubs money now we can get a better striker than him in

  • 22 bills-son // May 3, 2011 at 5:09 PM

chuck – The guy might stay now he `s aware of those big names we are about to sign.
    Gradel, Snodgrass, Wanyama and Puncheon.

Why do you and other fans judge AP and MA on paper talk?

The facts are this season back in the Prem we’ve signed Tiote and Ben Arfa, tied Tiote to a 6.5 year contract and offered Nolan, Barton and Enrique contract extensions.

Yes we’ve sold Carroll for £35M but if that money spent makes us a better team then its good business.

You and the likes of Graeme, MacToon, awc88 etc., wanna shut up negging, stop believing the papers and wait until we actually sign players.

    You might be pleasntly surprised.

  • 23 MacToon // May 3, 2011 at 5:22 PM

bills-son, we are all entitled to opinions and as far as I know that’s what this blog was set up for.

You also take things a little to serious and cannot tell a tongue in cheek remark if it bit you on the nose ;)

  • 24 ToonDownSouth // May 3, 2011 at 5:30 PM

    @ bills-son, great post.

The facts are that since we’ve been back in the prem, we’ve done a lot of good good things, and one bad thing in selling Andy. Hughton didn’t deserve the sack, but if Ashley wants to appoint someone he trusts with his money, fair play to him.

Everyone’s spent the last few days going nuts because the papers have linked us with some average players.

They’ve also linked us with Gervinho, Gamerio, Sow, etc. lol

  • 25 cousto // May 3, 2011 at 5:30 PM

agree with bills-son. I’m waiting till September 1st before passing judgement, papers don’t like Newcastle, and Phil Thompson talks sh1te.

  • 26 ToonDownSouth // May 3, 2011 at 5:33 PM

MacToon, yours was clearly tongue in cheek (although worryingly possible), but Graeme talks like he knows Ashley personally lol.

  • 27 milburn 77 // May 3, 2011 at 5:33 PM

bills-son we can only judge pardew on what he has done in the past and on that basis lets be honest he is crap, ask any of his former clubs

‘If I have to continue here’

    Doesnt sound to good me

  • 29 alex84 // May 3, 2011 at 5:39 PM

i really can’t wait for transfer window to open, not guna lie the mrs nearly left me last time with the whole Ben Arfa saga, can’t imagine how annoyed she will be this summer!…bring on the summer!!

  • 30 Howay The Lads // May 3, 2011 at 5:40 PM

Am I the only sone seeing this as a plea to Ashley for two things:
    1) More money in his wages – if he says he’s happy to stay but also happy to go, Ashley will probs offer more than if he says he’d LOVE to stay.
    2) To buy players – again, if he says he’s LOVE to stay, then Ashley may think all the players (and fans) are content with spending nothing.

Before yesterday I thought Enrique was gone, but now I see this as more of a Wayne Rooney ‘I want to leave rather than a definite I WANT to leave’ if that makes sense.

  • 31 Zangwill_Ho // May 3, 2011 at 5:43 PM

    we shall sign Connor Wickham

  • 32 kilcline // May 3, 2011 at 5:50 PM

He will leave, he wants to play for Spain and we don’t seem to be on their radar in terms of who they watch. I don’t blame him for going, i just hope for a few things:

    1. We do not sell him to Liverpool
    2. We reinvest all the transfer money in the team and not just a cheap left back.
    3. He moves abroad to a club playing in the champs league otherwise it is a indication of money grabbing again.

On another note, i hope Liverpool miss out on Europa.

  • 33 ganiyu // May 3, 2011 at 5:53 PM

The transfer market is not as simple as we all think.I really love to see new players come in but lets wait for the outcome.

    goner

  • 35 fungus44 // May 3, 2011 at 5:55 PM

ever thouht we might be looking at left backs as cover for jose as we have never had much in that position over the years

  • 36 Andy // May 3, 2011 at 5:57 PM

Can’t be bothered with the whole will he won’t he. I’d prefer it if he told us his intentions and his reasons. If he sees moving as a chance of progressing his career then good luck to him. Not many would turn down the chance of going to a team higher up in the league or another huge team outside of England such as Bayern Munich. Whatever happens he has been good this year, probably second best player, just behind Tiote. So thanks for what you’ve done so far but just tell us man!

  • 37 sumo // May 3, 2011 at 6:03 PM

    Hutton 5m
    Samba 10m
    Warnock 3m (if jose goes)

The midfield has work rate no real vision
    midfield
    Larsson free
    Kranjcar 6m

need pace and vision up front
    Forwards
    Elmander free
    Agbonlahor 10m

also add Ben arfa and Gosling to this a lot of quality premiership experience, not saying this would push for top six but would probably guarantee a top 10 finish which should be the next realistic step

  • 38 Thump // May 3, 2011 at 6:06 PM

I’d like to direct anybody who is whining about Newcastle being a “selling club” (yes I know, rival site and all that shite): http://www.nufcblog.org/2011/05/newcastle-united-the-selling-club/

As for Enrique, it’s a lot worse in print than it is in the vocal world. I honestly don’t think he wants to go, like he says, he isn’t even thinking about his contract and even mentioned his contract expiry at the end of next season. I reckon he’ll stay.

  • 39 GeordieGerman // May 3, 2011 at 6:07 PM

I have toothache. That is a fact.

  • 40 nimo // May 3, 2011 at 6:27 PM

How can people judge pardew with what he’s done at past clubs , he’s at our club now and in his 1st 17 games has a better record than chris huoghTon who everyone thought was doing a great job, so 17 games most without huoghtons get out of jail card Andy Carroll pretty impressive and you moan you want more communication AP comments on near enough everything and gets dissed for it – come on guys let’s just get behind the team and manager

  • 41 toonfan09 // May 3, 2011 at 6:32 PM

  • 42 kilcline // May 3, 2011 at 6:32 PM

    @nimo

I am not going to back a manager who rates Ameobi and Loverkrands, they are average at best and he makes out they are class. I have not seen football improve under Pardrew either, he will be judged after this summer though.

  • 43 coolcatcarter89 // May 3, 2011 at 6:36 PM

  • 45 Toonmania // May 3, 2011 at 6:39 PM

I think most of you are reading too much into this, if the club shows some ambition then i think he will stay, if they don’t then he will go elsewhere as he wants to get the most out of his career which i think we all would if it was us.
personally i hope he stay’s he’s a nice guy and stuck with us through the championship season

  • 46 kilcline // May 3, 2011 at 6:39 PM

fat mike is probably getting a court claim filed against him

  • 52 Jammydodger // May 3, 2011 at 6:44 PM

Sumo – and everyone else who thinks getting Elmander is a good idea.

Since 2008 he has scored 18 goals

He (like strolla) has the odd day where he will show a spark but then will be shite for months, he had an 11 month goal drought. ive got mates in bolton and he is their version of ameobi except none opf them even show a hint of liking him hes just a running joke who they want rid of.

There is a reason he is on a free its because thats what hes worth.

Also Kilcline pardew isnt retarded he knows ameobi and lovenhands arent particularly good but what do you want him to say ” they are the two worst strikers ive ever seen” no hes supporting them because at the minute its all there is rather than knocking them

  • 53 GeordieGerman // May 3, 2011 at 6:46 PM

kilcline, I’m not that sure that Pardew really does rate Shola and Lovenkrands. It may just be man management. I mean who else does he have to build up if it’s not them two?

  • 54 Toonmania // May 3, 2011 at 6:48 PM

i think there is something happening Dave_1961 has been going on about the club being taken over perhaps he is right

  • 55 coolcatcarter89 // May 3, 2011 at 6:49 PM

Toonmania beat me to it :( (lost cool points).

  • 56 kilcline // May 3, 2011 at 6:50 PM

    @Jammydodger and GeordieZeGerman

I kind of get the man management side of things but he has Ranger sitting on the bench and therefore doesn’t rate him as high…..

I want to keep Best and Ranger as back up, buy 2 new strikers and get rid of loverboy and Ameobi.

  • 57 Toonmania // May 3, 2011 at 6:50 PM

sorry ccc :-( my fingers are in typo mode been busy at work today

  • 58 GeordieGerman // May 3, 2011 at 6:51 PM

Has anyone thought that Enrique may really want to stay? Look at it this way. If he stays till the end of his contract he’s a free agent and can pick whichever club he wants to pick.

  • 59 Andy // May 3, 2011 at 6:53 PM

Talking about cool points what ever happened to the thumbs up and downs next to comments. Quite liked them. Also the club announcement will probably be something boring and unexciting. Maybe the unveiling of the new shirt?

  • 60 GeordieToon89 // May 3, 2011 at 6:54 PM

whats this about an official announcement? wher has it came from?

  • 61 GeordieGerman // May 3, 2011 at 6:54 PM

kilcline, I agree with the get rid of. But both have scored and Ranger has a lot to do yet. But definitely keep Best and Ranger as back ups.

bills-son after reading your comment, first, you seem sure that we are going to sign 4 players, where did you get that information????
messi, ronaldo, etc, etc, they are what i would call big names IMO,

  • 72 sumo // May 3, 2011 at 7:26 PM

jammydodger- elmander for his country plays in the berbatov/beardsley role for his country behind ibrahimovic,he is a more of a provider plus for bolton he plays on the right or left side of a 3 man attack where Davies is the centre forward who holds up the play, sturridge has the pace and elmander has the vision. All im saying is put him alongside a forward with terrific pace and he would drop off and play him in worth it for a free i think.

  • 73 GeordieTwo // May 3, 2011 at 7:29 PM

Sadly think Jose will go. His body language on the pitch suggests his heart isn’t in it anymore. We need a tremendous amount of work over the summer or we will be in a similar if not worse situation to this season since we had Carroll’s goals and setups for Nolan for part of the season. The owner better get his finger out and start making smart deals, don’t leave it to Lambsarse or we will sink like a stone. The players looked like they we already on holiday against Liverpool for parts of the match. A huge improvement is required against Birmingham! This summer is crucial for the future and we will finally know if Pardew has a clue or not. It will become more and more his team and he will have to take the stick if we don’t play well next season!

  • 74 davybtoon // May 3, 2011 at 7:34 PM

hey lee charnley is the main guy behind getting transfer deals done

but like someone said earlier he also deals with new contracts for players n stuff so its probably nolan n barton new deals, also the new strip will be unveiled in the next week or so coz they will were it on last day of season v wba

  • 77 boonarmy // May 3, 2011 at 7:38 PM

i think lee charnley is responsible for negotiating contracts of players getting new deals, new players being signed and managers etc. probably barton and nolan signed new deals.

  • 78 NUFC STEVE // May 3, 2011 at 7:41 PM

95% of me wants Jose definitely to stay but the other 5% thinks 50 million would be UNBELIEVABLE to build a new squad of quality players!!!!! Anyone agree?????????

  • 96 kenzie // May 3, 2011 at 8:19 PM

Enrique more or less said he would be happy to stay but would also be happy to leave, but wherever he goes he would opt to stay in england. He has his beloved dog(and cat) with him now and enjoys life in england. He hardly nailed his colours to the black and white mast though.

If we sign a quality RW and play Ben Arfa bhind 1 striker with Tiote and Nolan in CM,where does Joey fit in? Maybe thts the holdup with his new contract,AP doesn’t see him as a regular next season and with Joeys recent performances, maybe rightly so

  • 115 ToonDownSouth // May 3, 2011 at 10:09 PM

Yeah, who cares if Ferguson ISN’T A LEFT BACK?

Although I do miss the days when our defence was completely cack, so we had to attack for 90 minutes to make sure Bramble, Boumsong, Carr, and all the other cr@p we’ve had back there didn’t get tested!

  • 116 ToonDownSouth // May 3, 2011 at 10:12 PM

Also, because I’m a nosy b@astard, I was reading in to a twitter convo between Simpson & Van Aanholt.

They’d been together in London on Sunday, and Simpson said something like “might be seeing you soon ;) ” and PVA said “You never know!”
(Cant remember th exact convo- take a look)

Either they were joking around, or we might sign the lad, or Chelsea want Simpson.

We can probably write off the latter ey?

  • 117 kilcline // May 3, 2011 at 10:29 PM

    That is true Toondownsouth

  • 118 coolcatcarter89 // May 3, 2011 at 10:48 PM

Haha me too Toondownsouth :) . PVA was doing a Q&A on Twitter about 2 months ago, he didn’t have to respond to a Toon fan who asked “would you be happy to playfor Newcastle again?” He did though, saying “I loved my short spell at Newcastle and you’re great fans, but it’s kind of hard for me to answer properly because I’m under contract at Chelsea.” He’s definitely a top candidate to fill Jose’s boots.

  • 119 The-Ciaran8 // May 3, 2011 at 10:52 PM

He’s on loan at Leicester, so they weren’t referring to the upcoming match.

  • 122 ToonDownSouth // May 3, 2011 at 11:19 PM

Indeed. Pretty sure he’s been there since January.

I’m not saying he’s joining Newcastle, but he definitely wasn’t talking about the Chelsea game. Unless he’s hoping to get called back to Chelsea when they realise they haven’t got a world class left back.. Oh wait…

  • 128 ToonDownSouth // May 3, 2011 at 11:47 PM

Brutoon, thing is I can’t see Ashley spending money, so until he f***s off we’ll be in a “transitional period”, and could do a lot worse than putting effort into some kids.

After all, they save you (the maggot in charge) millions, and generally have a lot more passion for the club than those brought in

  • 129 ToonDownSouth // May 3, 2011 at 11:48 PM

nah, just wishful thinking. To be fair, Ashley Cole’s just skin ‘n’ bones isn’t he? Not as lightweight as Fergie but that’ll come with puberty

    coolcatcarter89@

    Crawfordladd17@

    In:

Sebastian Bassong £5m – Bit expensive for a player whos a sub and we only sold for like 8, maybe a tad cheaper like 3.5M for a backup/starter not bad i suppose but do we want a guy who jumped ship back?

    Wendt free
    Larsson free – Hope not.

N’Zogbia £8m – Too expensive and won’t join us again, he wants to move to next level not back to us.

Ireland £4m – Cheaper than that i hope IF we need an average player.
Gervinho £10m – Bit expensive but talented player.

    Sigþórsson £2m – Tad more i think around £2.5 or 3M

Long £4m – Good player born scorer will he make the jump? with Best here he shall fit in hopefully.

Have we ever bought 8 players in on ONE transfer market? no! and this season wont be any different more around 3/4 MAX

    Out:
Routledge £3m – No way 3M bought for 500k i doubt he would fetch 1M to QPR

Smith £2m – Crazy? he isnt worth nowhere near that, dont see anyone paying that sorta money for him.
    Campbell free
Xisco £2m – Doubt it we will cancal his contract i reckon.
    Perch £1m
    Ameobi/Loverkands £2m for either
    - We wont sell them both, we have had 10 years to sell Strolla unlikely to do it now with hardly any striker.

Ranger, Airey,Kadar, Tavernir, Donaldson on loan

    Ben Tozer £300k

13 Players out! Doubt that will happen 13 is alot for the 2nd smallest squads in EPL, our chopping any changing wont be this big.

  • 141 veto // May 4, 2011 at 1:02 AM

really wouldn’t like to see him go , i still think he’s was underrated despite the plaudits , he’s just so strong for a full back with pace and control aswell its not often you find that in one player and a fullback to boot .

  • 142 CT // May 4, 2011 at 1:09 AM

Jay Boothroyd nailed on, said in January. Outsider Lucciano Becchio, also said in Jan.
    Van Anholt ? Hope so
Charlie Adam, again in Jan I said he will be our biggest most expensive signing.
HBA/GOS/ and the above , we might just be dangerous!

  • 143 djm... // May 4, 2011 at 3:29 AM

Or it could mean pva is hoping to play against him when we go to Chelsea or hang with him while we are down there?

  • 144 Baro // May 4, 2011 at 4:58 AM

I’d take “Oguchi” anyday! He is one brilliant defender. Has had a spell on Tyneside before, so he should know how Tyneside is. I would love to sign him. Williamson is a good defender but lacks big time speed. He is strong in the air that is probably it. Meanwhile Onyewu is a beast in the air and has some speed in him in other words a lot more than Williamson. Onyewu would add some competition to our team and there is nothing better than that. Its what every team needs in order to get better.
On the other side i would love PVA to come back to Newcastle. Had a month loan with us last season and he seriously impressed me. Great attacking full back with great speed. We have Tim Krul who is Dutch and maybe he can convince him here as their is rarely any Dutch players on Chelsea. But, i believe they are just talking about our match 2 weeks from time.

  • 145 Toonmania // May 4, 2011 at 5:20 AM

Yeah PVA would be great, he could get stuck up here

  • 146 Baro // May 4, 2011 at 5:26 AM

Just waiting on the official announcement there is supposed to be according to cwarro7 the twitter Newcastle fan i believe. Just want it to be players signed up and joining Toon. That is the only thing i want to hear or an takeover from rich Middle Eastern Sheiks. I really keep saying on i don’t want to be like Man Citeh but Mike Ashley is trying to make a profit from us and doesn’t care about the calabire of the players on this team. Its obvious that he will keep Carroll 35 million, Enrique 10-15 million, that is total 50 million, and watch him run with that money and sell the club. I seriously miss spending in transfer markets. Like the past January we spend how much money? $0.

  • 147 Toonmania // May 4, 2011 at 6:16 AM

    Baro,
i can’t see it being players being annouced in the next few days as they can’t be shown/introduced until after the close of the season, i’m thinking it might be a sale of the club (here’s hoping) i don’t want someone like man citeh but also wouldn’t turn it down, i just want someone to spend a “resonable amount” in the transfer windows so that it improves the team in each window

  • 148 Toonmania // May 4, 2011 at 6:22 AM

From this write up he sounds a bit like Tiote, but perhaps more of a playmaker/ more creative:

    Baro,

Perhaps, if its true that there’s going to be an announcement, it will be that Barton or another existing player has signed a new contract.

One thing I don’t miss from spending big in transfer windows is the dissappointment when that new big signing everyone got all exited about turns out to be injury prone, lazy or utter shite!

    Paul P,

Can’t see Agbonlahor leaving Villa for us. Yes, they’ve been poor since O’neill left, but they’re still a bigger club than us with a decent squad.

  • 156 BillMarson // May 4, 2011 at 10:54 AM

From what i heard, I reckon Jose will STAY, if we bring in class players, especially in the attacking department.
He mentioned Viduka and Owen, those sort of players. And that is exactly what he expects this summer.
He’s basically happy here at Newcastle, but if there is offers from bigger, more ambitious clubs, then it’s time to move on…

I pray that we’ll have 2 new proven strikers next season…

    ps:
One of the good quotes that I picked up:
“…here (in Newcastle i.e. the fans), they love football more than their wives…” – Jose Enrique

You want to know peoples thoughts if Enrique will stay, Why didn’t the interviewer just ask Enrique straight out if he wants to stay. He must want to leave, cause he did not say straight out he wants to stay, and he will be worried the fans will be on his back for the last 3 games if he admits now that he wants to move on.
Only one thing to say, “we’ve lost one of our best players”.

  • 160 hadthetshirt // May 5, 2011 at 11:41 AM

He also said “this is my last year here”
Hope he does stay, but if not farewell Jose and thank you.He should always get a good welcome here.
