Newcastle After Southampton Winger

The Daily Mirror today is reporting that both Newcastle and Glasgow Rangers are interested in Southampton winger. Jason Puncheon. in the summer transfer window.

Jason Puncheon – Newcastle interested

This is not the first time Puncheon has been linked with Newcastle, and the lad has been quite impressive on loan at Blackpool since January, and whenever we’ve watched the 24 year-old has looked a more than decent player, who can occasionally score goals.

He’s so far appeared 8 times for Blackpool and scored two goals, and certainly fits the profile of young players Newcastle want to bring to Tyneside this summer.

Add to that the fact that Alan Pardew knows the youngster from his time last year managing Southampton, and Newcastle may have a decent chance of landing this Croydon-born winger.

In fact Alan Pardew signed Jason from Plymouth Argyle on January 30th last year, and he’s so far played 30 times for the Saints with 3 goals.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway would also like to sign the player full time in the summer, if the Seasiders stay in the Premier League, which we hope they do, but we have to think Newcastle could be a better option for the player.

Glasgow Rangers are also interested in the player, and Jason could be attracted by European competition at Rangers, but the SPL is hardly the best league in Europe, and is a  perennial two team league north of the border.

We have to think there’s even a decent chance Puncheon could end up at Newcastle this summer.

What do you think?

i would think that we could attract bigger players than him even though he has played great for blackpool but i think we could get bigger players in to be honest. at the end of the day as long as the players fight for the club and fans then they are more than welcome to come in and do the job no matter who they are.

“The most expensive regular, the Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, cost €4.75m (£4.2m).”

We shouldn’t waste our time such as players….if we wanna move up the ladder we don’t have to buy a kind of Puncheon player.

theres a young striker called babacar and he has the potential to be amazing think people are comparing him to drogba he plays for fiorentina think he should get looked at for sure he is massive for his age but he can put in the performance that is required.

Why not put in a bid for DJ Campbell if Blackpool go down ? 11 goals playing with Blackpool he might exploded with the support our midfield will provide next year. He would be a explosive sub and a excellent back up forward and if we Don’t manage to buy a 1st class striker he could do the job as proven with blackpool.

Oh it just get better and better !!
2nd division loan player who’s had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus. At least aim for Gradel or a bit higher please.

Trouble is this is Pardwho’s level of player. He admitted as much saying he only really knew the championship.

You watch it will be : Puncheon, Carlton Cole, Reo- Coker, Konchesky under this god awful manager. About as far away from Gervinho, Gameiro, Sow et al as you could get. Pardwho will think he knows better than Carr, the arrogant ….!

    Rotonda, just wait and see…

This is THE STAR reporting this; they also say that Rangers want him as well, and that Gradel turned us down to stay at Leeds…

The litterally just make crap up…

Yes this is the kind of transfer link I can believe. Our failed third division manager going back to the club who sacked him to sign a third division player. This deal will be right up the FCB’s street. Sell Joey Barton in the summer for £7 million and replace him with some unknown journeyman from the third division for an initial £500 grand.

Worryingly there seems to be too much reporting on players like Shane Long, Gradel, Puncheon, Doyle, Konchesky, Warnock, Upson, Larssen etc.
If this is the standard of players we’re looking for we’re going NOWHERE next season (except downwards).
The likes of Krancjar, Bendntner, Gervinho, Weiss, van Aanholt, Dos Santos etc should be the quality we’re aiming at none of whom would cost a fortune.
I see this next transfer window being the one which defines exactly where this club is making a statement about where it expects to be and have to say with Ashley behind it – it’s not going to be pretty.

I hope not all our summer signings fit the ‘newcastle profile’ ie. v.cheap and young enough to be re-sold if they start playing well. I was never one for trophy signings but if ever there was an occasion for a declaration of intent, its the end of May. You can tell after the L/pool game there’s a dragging to the end of the season and thinly veiled criticism of Williamson.
To settle the better lads we’ve got Ca$hley needs to get his wallet out early and buy 2 top strikers. Then fans and players alike can relax to an off-season of careful negotiations for the other defenders and wide players needed and if Carr can unearth a few rough diamonds, freebies and young unknowns, so much the better.

But without those 2 marquee signings, it’ll be doom and gloom and haemorrhaging players that need to be replaced.

It’s maybe because Pardew thinks that this Championship player is better than our current squad.. :-p I saw cardiff vs boro last nite. I think Leroy Lita is far more dangerous than Ameobi.. 😀

SAV mate you have it bang on……….

I have heard an awful rumour from a mate at Spurs that Llambias & Ashley was offered Van de Vart the day before they sold Andy Caroll and bauked at the £10m asking price and £55k per week wages, they passed the tip onto Spurs who gladly snapped him up.

Makes me want to pull my hair out! What are they thinking if anything? Puncheon??? What is the big hairy deal about Puncheon??? Why not bring in Pardew’s uncles nephew who scored once for his school team in a practice session? I hear St Swithan’s girls team needs a manager. Maybe Pardew would fit in better there.
